Had water line outside the house rupture. Bailey was the company chosen by the water / sewer line insurance (American Water Resources, which is also in over their head) to handle the emergency. Unfortunately their definition of handling the emergency was that they could not come out for 10 days. They should not be taking emergency calls that they cannot handle.

Absolute clown show…technician came out on August 3rd to do a routine cleaning of the AC unit. Technician cleaned the unit and “topped off” the Freon and assured me it was completely full. The unit was running fine the rest of the day but the following days I started to notice that the house was not cooling like it normally does and progressively got more hot until the thermostat was reading 82-84 degrees with it being set at 70 degrees. We called Bailey and asked if someone would be able to come out as the AC unit is not cooling the house. On August 15th the same technician that came out on the 3rd came back. He had acted as if he had never been there before and assured us that there was nothing to be worried about. He AGAIN checked the Freon and ended up replacing the capacitor and stated “everything is now perfect”. Later that night a high pitched buzzing started to come from the furnace in the basement and STILL the house was not cooling. We immediately called Bailey and stated that we do not want the same technician and want someone else to come out because it house is still not probably cooling…all of which started after the first time they came out on August 3rd. The following day the 16th a new technician came out and stated that he’s not sure what is wrong but the fan outside is not running and he believes we need a new unit. A WHOLE NEW UNIT! After another technician had just come 24 hours before and stated “everything is now perfect” NOW we need a new unit….UNBELIEVABLE. Finding this hard to believe that same day the 16th we had another company come out to check the unit. To our surprise the Freon was COMPLETELY EMPTY! The new companies technician stated that the previous technician must have not closed the valve for the Freon which caused all of it to leak out… The technician refilled the Freon and since that day August 16th the unit has been running perfectly and without any issues. Now I don’t know if this is complete incompetence by two different technicians or some type of game they are trying to play but to have a technician supposedly who has been doing this for 30 years to “check” the Freon MULTIPLE times and assure me it is full…to learn that it was completely empty is quite alarming. I’ve made multiple attempts to call and speak to a manager or supervisor regarding the issue but have been getting the run around for a week. It’s not right and absolute bad business by this company. I would not recommend this company to anyone I know and would actually recommend against them after this encounter.

We cancelled the job, and they kept the deposit of 1,000, even though the contract/bill doesn't state anything about lost of deposit if job is cancelled. We are now in the process of taking legal actions against them.

We needed a sewage ejector replaced in our basement and needed it ASAP due to a party the next day being held in the party room in the basement. They got the job done within 24 hours of our first call. The gentleman who came was professional, knowledgeable and on time. Several weeks after the installation the unit didn't work and they sent out someone immediately who identified the problem (float was being blocked by power cord that became unsecured when the cover was replaced). They explained how to identify/fix problems with the float in the future and didn't leave until they were sure it was working properly. No charge for the 2nd visit. Their price for the replacement was higher than the last time it was replaced a few years ago but I did some research and they put in a top of the line unit. Overall I would say they are worth a bit more because they were knowledgeable, professional and stood behind their work.

I called A Bailey?s plumbing at 10:20am to let them know that my shower knob was having trouble and the water kept running in the tub. The representative took down my information and said that someone would come between 11am and 1pm. We received a call at 10:38am that a plumber was on his way. He arrived before 11am and was able to detect the problem. He charged us $315 to replace the part. My husband said that Chris was very professional and courteous; and he fixed the basement door that was partially off the hinges. Overall, everything was fixed by 11:30am, just a little over an hour after our initial phone call. We were very impressed and will be using A Bailey?s plumbing for future services.

I don't normally do this, but I'm super frustrated and want every New Jersey homeowner to know about this. Last winter I called A. Bailey Plumbing and Heating to fix a pipe in our garage that burst. That was our fault for not properly preparing the garage pipe and spigot for winter. The technician came to our house very quick, which is normal from A. Bailey. He fixed the pipe and even bent the leading pipe from inside the house to the spigot to help with the draining of water. That was nice of him. Before he left he gave me instructions to leave the valve open on the spigot outside the house to let water drain out. Then to turn off the valve inside the garage and then inside the house. That way there is no more water reaching that spigot. And that way any remaining water with drain out and the pipe will not burst because there is room for expansion and contracting without breaking. The technician left the house with the inside pipes closed and the outside spigot open, as he told me to do. Not long after the same pipe burst. After much back and forth with the technician, they finally fixed their poorly done fix at no charge. Now it's over a year later. This past winter we prepared the pipe as instructed. There was no burst during the winter. It's not spring and we went to open everything up to use the hose. As soon as water touched that pipe, it burst. This time the burst was on the pipe they installed in place of the original 2 that broke. We called because it's the 2nd time their fix didn't work. After much back and forth I was told "I was being negligent" for not preparing the pipe for winter, although I did exactly as told. The technician said multiple times that I need to keep the valve open outside. Even though I kept telling him it was open. In fact, it's still open. It hasn't been touched since he "fixed it" last time. All I did this season was open the inside valves to let water out. So this technician from A. Bailey Plumbing and Heating basically called me a liar and negligent and refused to fix their poor craftsmanship. Once I said I will be leaving a negative review and notifying the BBB the technician hung up on me. So let this be a warning to all in New Jersey. A. Bailey Plumbing and Heating might be quick to respond, and they might have decent pricing. But avoid their bad business practices and poor "fixes" at all costs. Sorry to have to share this, but I've had enough back and forth with them.

They never showed up for their appointment and left me in a bad way with my realtor who was waiting for them for two hours. My closing was delayed due to this and I was very upset by their lack of respect for my time and when I asked to speak to the owner I was given a random voicemail and still haven't received a return phone call. I would not recommend them to others.

Although this was done sometime ago and there was no Angie's list to give a review, I want to share my experience with this company. Maybe things have changed, however I couldn't use them again.
Description of Work: Called about stuffed toilet. Two men came. They asked me to get something from downstairs. I returned quickly and overheard one of the men say to the other "hurry she's coming back". I walked in and saw one of the "repairers" stuffing toilet tissue down the toilet. I told them to leave immediately. I did pay them; I don't remember how much ( I am female and I was alone in my house; didn't want to make them angry or hostile). I did not call their office; I should have. Whatever they would have said after I told them about my experience it would not have changed my mind.

He did suggest to call a well company for the job. Review: Called A Bailey Plumbing for a water loss in my house. It happened on a Saturday. The service person came, did not find anything wrong with the equipment in the house and said it was the well pump. Price $2500-$3000. For a couple days we were living without water. Monday called another company for a second opinion (lucky!) and sure enough it was the electrical box. The one the AB technician said was fine...It took 10 min to fix it. Still had to pay A Bailey almost $100 for the service call plus gas and mileage.Even though they completely misdiagnosed the problem and it could of cost us all the money to put a new pump in which still would not work. We called the company to discuss the situation ,but did not receive a call back. Would not recommend THIS kind of service to anyone!

At first I was taken back at the price I was being quoted before the job was really looked at. I notice that when you have an emergency it seems $499.00 is the going price no matter what it is. I told the young man that. But he did take a better look and sent his boss information and we agreed on the price. Overall they were quick in getting to the house and got the job done.
Description of Work: A mixing valve sprung a leak in our utility room. It was a old model and had to be replaced. The young man was very professional and even though it was a Saturday the company located the part and was back within 1 1/2 hours to do the job. He gave me two choices one to get my water back on but it was a temporary and the 2nd so I was within code which was more expensive but it was done right the first time. I choose to have the second done so I didn't have to worry or have it corrected in the future.

I called in the morning reporting that our sump pump was running continuously. The person on the phone suggested that it was burning out and should be replaced. I agreed. It was not a rainy day nor was rain forecast so I asked for service as soon as possible without requiring an emergency call fee. This was granted and later that same day they sent a plumber over who, of course, recommended that a new sump pump be installed. A price was provided and I agreed. I think that A. Bailey is on the expensive side, but I have used them over the 19 years I have been in my house and never had any complaints about the quality of their work. All of the work I have ever required has been minor, e.g. sump pumps and clearing of clogged pipes/snaking, so I can not honestly report on their performance for major jobs. But I have always been, notwithstanding the price, satisfied with the jobs they have done on my property.

I discovered a flooded laundry room at 1:00 am when I went to throw clothes from the washer into the dryer. I thought that my washing machine had exploded...then I realized I was getting soaked from above. I'm a scientist so I have assembled, fixed, ramped up all sorts of equipment in my laboratory...but I did not have what I needed to do this job. So...I used Krazy glue to change the trajectory of the water and I hung a bucket right on this useless pipe. Then when I was ready I shut off the main water valve for the house. Early this morning I checked the yellow pages for a plumber...found A. Bailey who reported that they did not charge a fee just to show up, provided free estimates and they had a coupon. So I called...they were very nice and the man was here about 2 hours after I called. I had a coupon for $30.00 and it still came to $265.00 for a 15 minute job. The man was very nice and professional...but I think it was too expensive. But if the work is solid...I'll consider it money well spent. I was charged nine dollars for a fuel charged that no one told me about....that kind of stuff I don't like, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do! Update 02/16/13 They did not reveal all the costs before they came, it took them 15 minutes to do the job, he left a mess in the basement behind. It was $300 including the $30 coupon from Angie's List.
Description of Work: I had a pin hole size leak in a water pipe, that was only a foot long that branched off the main pipe, and it lead to a shut off valve. It surved no purpose. So the pipe needed to be cut off and capped.

I can't say enough about their professionalism, time sensitivity to their honesty.
Description of Work: We are Diamond members of A. Bailey Plumbing. We have been in our home for 19 years and have used A.Bailey Pluming the entire time. They were recommed to us by my mother-in-law as she used them for her home as well. Approximately cost of the 19 years have been around $7,000. They have fixed a collapsed sewer line which happened the middle of winter. We had to wait 3 months for the ground to soften before we could have it repaired. Several sump pump replacements, sewere cleaned, etc. There are so many repairs but thank goodness I can say that the last 2 years have been new toilet installations due go home renovations. I had a leaking toilet. The technician came and was very honest and told me to try to tighten the screws. If that doesn't work then a new wax ring will be needed and it would cost $150 to remove, put new wax ring, put toilet back. I could call back to make an appointment if the screw tightening didn't work. So I tightened the mounting screws on toilet and that did the trick. Very honest and they saved me $150. They made there in the heavy snow...excellent company!!!!
