We chose this company at the recommendation of our neighbor's cousin. Communication was excellent. Chris came out and did the appraisal, explaining thoroughly what would affect the valuation and showing me the comparables on our computer. He answered all my questions about how the process would work and what we could expect. Because of the large number of appeals in the county, this company was very busy, and it took about a month to get the final appraisal report -- a bit close to the deadline for comfort. A few of my e-mails didn't get answered, which had me a bit nervous about getting the report on time. But we did get it in time to submit to the county. Everything went just as Chris had told us -- we got a call from the town assessor who ended up agreeing with the appraisal number. We did not have to go to the hearing. That is something to keep in mind with this company -- you will be payiing about $100 for a hearing appearance whether you have to appear or not. But this company knows what it's doing. Two houses comparable to mine sold within the last month for just around the same price as my appraisal. $500 may seem like a lot, but a professional appraisal can potentially save you thousands in property taxes. Well worth it, and the people with this company clearly know their stuff.
