Ray did an extremely good job in overall, in many specific ways: visually the house fits well in the neighborhood and is very pleasing to us - so he understood our taste and met it well. In all the technical aspects of the building trades, wiring, plumbing, etc. he protected us and contractors by establishing a very clear and detailed plan that allowed the work to progress clearly and well. The flow of the house is excellent and now that we are living in it, we realize very many ways in which small things he did make the house even nicer to live in -- good air flow and ventilation, nice overhangs that allow windows to be open even during rain, etc. It's a wonderful, comfortable house to live in that also has some very attractive and tasteful features that suit us very well. We weren't quite sure Ray really heard us when we said we were willing to pay more for building in energy-saving features and increasing the house's environmental aspects; for example, Ray's specifications for the bathrooms included fans that could not function without the light being on as well, which we see as a waste of electricity if you need to ventilate the room but don't need light. (We changed this with the electrician and general contractor.) But don't let this hold you back: Ray did an excellent and very detailed, professional job for a very good price, and we would be delighted to work with him again.
Description of Work: Ray prepared detailed architectural plans for a partial demolition and reconstruction - expansion of our house, including significant site alterations to allow for a ramp. It was an add-a-level and then some; the house went from 1-1/2 storey cape cod to full 2-storey colonial; was 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms and is now 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. The entire layout of the first floor was changed and expanded (added foundation and new space in back from new kitchen and more room space), an entire new second storey was added as well as a full attic. All plumbing, electrical, stairs, doors and windows changed locations and hardware.
