At first they were extremely professional, when we had an issue after removing the old siding the Owner/Boss came to our house and re-adjusted the estimate (unexpected problems under old siding). The new windows were installed, new siding was installed new front gutter also. Now 2-3 months later, 2 of the New Construction windows are leaking from what appears to be improper installation behind the siding, the gutter is leaking behind the facia board into the roof and into the house causing NEW damage to the house that never had problems before, no one is returning calls or answering the phone. Rumors and I repeat Rumors from employees that I caught at WAWA in the company truck, are that the company was sold and everyone was laid off and that they are only finishing the jobs that were paid for and ignoring all warranty issues and not returning any previous customers phone calsl or going back to do any warranty work.. STAY AWAY sounds like this Professional Company has gone down the drain
Description of Work: Remove old siding, remove old windows, replace rotted wood, install new construction windows and new siding.

Horrible!! They were almost 2hours late for the estimate. The gentleman never called me back to let me know if someone could fix as he stated he would call early the following week. I called his cell 2x and never got call back. As for the office that I also called 2x they were very rude to me and didn't help at all

I spoke with the member on 7-27. He explained he was trying to get a quote for his roof so he could sue his solar company. He said that he was very upset at all contractors because his other contractors and solar company were out of business. The member said in his review that he was never called. An appointment was set and our sales person called him on the day of the appointment to confirm. The problem started when our sales person discovered he had given the member a quote for another section of his roof on 9-11-2008. The member gave the business to another contractor. Our sales person asked him why he did not call the other contractor? Our sales person said he had the measurements for the entire roof and would call him back with a quote. He did not think he had to remeasure the roof. The member insisted it was a different roof. Our sales person knew the roof was 15 years old and he was surprised they would put solar panels on a roof that old. I am confident we could have given the member another bid for the orginal work we did. Our sales person should have called him back with the price or even made a visit to the house. He felt the member wanted the bid but he would select the lowest price which is why he is having problems with contractors. I believe we could have done a better job for the member. While I was impressed with the compnay and representative, their estimate was extremely high compared to the average of three other estimates I'd gotten.
Description of Work: I called Blue Ribbon for an estimate. They were very responsive, professional and courteous. The representative came to me as scheduled. He was neat and clean and very nice. Meanwhile, I'd gotten 3 other estimates. While I was impressed with Blue Ribbon, their estimate came in twice as much as the the average of the 3 other estimates. I did not hire Blue Ribbon.

I am disappointed we could not provide the member with the right price point. Generally we are with in 10% of the lowest competitor. We try to be the best value for our customers and not necessarily the lowest price. We offer the best warranties in the area. For example we off a life time workmanship warranty. We also offer 100% roof leak protection if we take off the existing roof to the deck and have the opportunity to inspect the deck. We use only the best products and provide our customers with all of the manufacturers warranties. These warranties are expensive to provide but we think our customers are looking for someone to take care of their roof and give them piece of mind. Bill Lenahan CEO

Every thing that needed to be done to replace our windows was done in a very professional manner and I am very pleased with this company and the technician that performed the work. It's refreshing to have a contractor that can be trusted. Thank you Blue Ribbon for being that company.
Description of Work: We had 6 windows installed to replace windows that were leaking. The technician worked steadily from the time he started until completion. The work performed was very professional and orderly. I would recommend this company to anyone that needs work to the exterior or interior. In days of contractors that can't be trusted this company stands apart from those.

Description of Work: Called Blue Ribbon for an estimate to replace my garage roof. Their rep came out in a timely manner, measured, then said he would mail their proposal. Called again more than a week later because I did not receive the mail as stated. No response to my follow up call So I assumed they "blew me off." At least they could have called - or responded to my call - to tell me they weren't interested so that I can get my roof repaired sooner rather than later.

I researched the request from the member and he is correct. We went to his home and took the measurments and prepared a quote. Unfortunately our sales consultant did not send or present our proposal. There is no excuse for not responding. He claimed he misplaced the proposal and got to busy. I apologized to the member. We are changing our internal process to ensure that each lead is follow up by our office manager so all leads are closed out to eliminate this problem in the future. Bill Lenahan CEO

I did not select Blue Ribbon because the estimate was too high.
Description of Work: Estimate was initially $2,000 higher then I was willing to pay and not competitive with two other quotes I received from local contractors. Upon reveiwing thei quotes, Blue Ribbon was able to come within $1,000 of the other two quotes. I chose one of the other roofers becuse of their lower quote.

I am sorry we were not able to meet the member's quotes from the other companies. Sometimes in the roofing business we see competitive quotes that do not make economic sense. There are several factors that make up a roofing quote. The first is the products and their prices from the manufacturers. We are one of the largest roofing companies in the state of NJ so I am sure we get the best prices avaiable from our vendors. Secondly, critical questions are: what are the warranties, for how long, will the company stand behinh their claims? We do offer our customers the most advanced warranties available. We offer a life time workmanship warranty (most of our competitors offer 1-15 years). We are the only company to my knowledge to offer a free one year inspection and lifetime roof leak protection if we remove the existing roof to the roof deck. All of these warranties cost our company money. We think our customers want piece of mind that their roof will not fail and if it does it will be repaired at no cost.

Please see above. The coupon gimmick is exactly the type of thing I am trying to avoid with contractors. I would suggest Angie's List should keep an eye on coupons, special deals, etc...or not offer them at all and keep it simple.
Description of Work: I had rec'd a quote from Blue Ribbon back in March, we are now ready to move forward with a roof, so I called to see if the quote was still good. I did receive a prompt return call back from the salesman, the price had gone up $500 from March, and I can understand this as he said it was due to materials increase. When I asked about using the Angie's List coupon he said "Oh no you would have had to tell me about the coupon up front...I already gave you discounts." This concerrns me and it should also concern Angie's List, the coupon is not actually a special 20% off deal For Angie's List members as it is advertised on your site, it appears they want to know they will have to give you 20% off BEFORE they give you a price.

I spoke with the member about the report after I investigated the situation internally. I agree with the member's evaluation. The delivery time and communication was unacceptable and does not meet Blue Ribbon's standards. Unfortunately, there was a series of errors, some internally and some by manufacturer. As a managment team we are reviewing our processes to insure we do a better job. The member's reported they do love their door and they have received several compliments. the member commented favorable on the quality of the installation and the final product. UPDATE: It's been just over a year since we had our roof done. The work, as I stated in my review below, was excellent and the experience was great, though they weren't the cheapest quote we got. The work came with a 1-year inspection of the roof. I've been calling the company for 2 weeks and haven't been able to get ahold of anyone. I'm not sure if they're still in business or not, but this isn't boding well for follow-up work with them. ================================================================================================ My husband and I got quotes from several roofing companies. Blue Ribbon was the only company who came out to do the estimate when they said they would and return the written estimate on time. They were also the only company who told us that we had 2 layers of shingles; all the others said we only had 1 and would have put on a 3rd layer! We had some trouble deciding on which color to choose. Neil came out (again) and gave us a sample book and had the office give us addresses to look at different colors of roofs. He was very patient. They weren't the cheapest and we were slightly hesitant about the price, but it turns out they were well worth it. The work was scheduled to start on the Thursday before the hurricane, on a day that we were forecasted to have rain. We were worried that they were going to just rush through the job but they decided to reschedule until the following week. The actual roofers were there on time (no later than 8:00) and worked until almost 6:00, despite not having power. They were very diligent and honest. They found a couple of badly damaged pieces of plywood and took my husband up to the roof to show him. The flashing and weather proofing process they use is great. The house looks totally transformed and we are so much more confident in the safety of our house. I love the fact that not only is the product guaranteed for life, but that their workmanship is guaranteed, too, and that they come out a year after the job is done to inspect it. We will need to have the house resided in the coming years and I would have the utmost confidence using them again.
Description of Work: We had a new roof put on our 40 yo Dutch colonial (a complete tear-off), a new attic fan installed, and a vent installed for a new bathroom fan.

Overall it started fine.They did the ripoff and worked on repairing the sag over the garage.The leveling of the garage roof was terrible.I had to tell them to redo it and gave suggesstions.Finally that was done correctly and they finished installing the new shingles. The window people came and replaced seven windows.The window crew did a great job and I was very happy with their professionism. The gutters and leaders were installed and looked good.The posts for the porch were installed but were not right,they moved. In other words they were not mounted securely.They had no experience in replacing posts and therefore should not have agreed to do this portion of the project. Before I made my final payment I noticed that when it rained the water was leaking in this one corner between the gutter and the soffit.I requested that they fix it.They sent someone and he put this one foot by one foot aluminium "sail" in the valley because they said too much water was coming down at this point.I pointed out that this happened if it was only drizzeling.They came back and replaced it with a smaller piece of metal.At this point they requested the final payment and assured me that if this was still a problem they would take care of it immediately.I paid them.When it rained lightly the same problem was still there.To make a long story short it took two weeks of me calling everyone in that company to get someone to come and figure out the problem and fix it. As far as I am concerned, they blew it.I understand that there are problems in any project but I found out that if you make your final payment you have no levegage. I worked with them through the whole project and would have been happy to give them an excellent rating if at the end they did not forget you after you made your final payment.I would also like to say that if you tell a customer people are coming at a certain time and they are delayed that you call that customer let him know of the delay.After all it only takes a phone call. UPDATE: 6/27/11 I received a call from the owner of Blue Ribbon after he read my report on Angie's List.He was very concerned about what he read.I explained that overall his people did a very good job and I was very happy with the end result.The problem was with the communication and their response after the job was finished.He assured me that they would implement new procerures so that this would not happen again.I believe him and therefore would like to change my rating and also say that I would now recommend them to other homeowners.
Description of Work: A complete ripoff of the roof.Rework the rafters for the garage roof to improve the sag.Replace the roof singles with Timberline singles.Replace seven windows.Replace two porch posts.Replace all the gutters and leaders including a leaf guard like product.

They did a fabulous job. They came, did the job and left. They cleaned after themselves. They notified me when the roof inspectors would come and made an appointment for me. All I can tell is, this was my first experience and I think they did a good job. We had a few estimates and actually they were in the ballpark of a couple of them. I don't think they over charged us.

I was very happy with the job they performed. From the very first meeting with the salesperson to the end of the installation all the people i dealt with acted in a very professional manner. Everything was explained upfront, the final cost was what was originally quoted and there were no "hidden surprises". I would definitely recommend and use Blue Ribbon in the future for any other major work i need to have done.

I called 5 or 6 companies to fix my roof that was "flapping" in the breeze. The other companies that did rolled flat roofs either never called back after leaving a message or charged too much. Blue Ribbon was professional, prompt, and reasonable. Within 4 days from calling, the roof was repaired and the cleanup was spotless - roof and yard.
Description of Work: A wind storm had pulled up the rolled flat rear roof. The old roof was removed and a new rolled flat roofing was installed.

They did a good job. They were really good at cleaning up and they did the whole thing in two days. They were really quick and it looks pretty as well. I was impressed with the quality of their work and the professionalism of the workers. I am pleased with the new roof.
Description of Work: They did a complete replacement of the roof on my house with new asphalt shingles. We have a two story home with four bedrooms. They had to replace a lot of old wood as well.
