Very positive experience with these guys. I forgot the name of the foreman of the move, but he was a tall guy from Uruguay. 4 men in all. They came on time, were all well-spoken, courteous, professional ... all the good things! Its been 3 weeks now since we moved and finally unpacked and settled in. Nothing was discovered broken! These guys took a lot of care during the move. Love them!! :) They provided the lowest price quote when we were shopping around. Spoke with Adam Mosley on the phone before the move, to provide him with an estimate of the size of the move. I think I was a little incredulous on the phone that they'd move us for so less when the few other similarly credentialed companies that I spoke with quoted much higher prices. Adam reassured me both times that our move wasn't that big and would be done under 4 hours, so the price was fair (it took them exactly 4 hours!). Class act!

The move went very well. All the movers were very nice and responsive. They are not the fastest movers, but nothing was broken so we are happy. The price was well below the estimate!

American Movers did a pretty good job moving us. We did however have a little misunderstanding. We thought they would pack everything but they didn't want to be liable for my electronic equipment, such as my computer. Otherwise I think they were good overall. They came on time and none of my things were broken.

August 2010 Update: I am updating my posting below, 4 years after this move was completed, based on a call I received from the new owner of this business. Adam Mosely indicated to me that he purchased American Movers recently and subsequently discovered my posting from July, 2006. Mr. Mosely indicates that his team is entirely new and that American Movers is committed to quality and customer satisfaction. I respect his concern, outreach and approach. My problem did not occur under Mr. Mosely's ownership and I believe him when he says he is determined to maintain high standards. I also believe that I just got a "bad egg" team member when I moved in 2006, and that an entire business should not be indefinitely penalized for one rogue employee's misconduct. Given that Mr. Mosely indicates that no one is left from the team that moved me, and that management is completely new, I want readers to know that my experience is now in many respects unrelated to the current American Movers. I would also reiterate the positive aspects of my original review -- this company has historically been known for quality and honesty. That's why I chose them in 2006, and now having spoken to the company's new owner, I'd probably try them again if I moved. Original 2006 posting: This firm would get an A+ had the packers not stolen certain personal property. The overall job they did packing was exceptional. The move was also very smooth. Unfortunately, after unpacking everything weeks later, I discovered that a silver ice bucket loaded with change and a digital camera were missing from the kitchen boxes they packed. I was stupid to leave this for them to pack, but in a house full of valuable stuff it did not occur to me to treat some items differently than others.
