Early in the summer of 2013 I contacted Trinity Paving for an estimate and Michele Doyle inspected our driveway to give us a proposal. She seemed quite knowledgeable, professional and honest. I received a price that seemed fair and I agreed to have the work done late in the summer or early fall. The work was started on 9/5/13 and completed on 9/9 (2 days of work). Before the last steps, which would be the seal coating, I questioned the worker about several areas of the driveway which were supposed to be repaired using "hot torch" but weren't done. He said he didn't have enough propane with him to do it. So there were no crack areas that were repaired using a "hot torch" even though the written estimate and the verbal by Michele indicated there would be. Also on asking him about the seal coating he told me he was using 1 coat. The proposal indicated 2 coats would be done. He had to call the office to get the O.K. to do the second coat. Payment had to be made before the seal coats were were done which I did using a personal check. I watched him apply the first coat and then apply the second coat only about 10 minutes after the first. In doing research since then I have found that there should be an absolute minimum of 1 hour between coats. The proposal indicates that the property will be "ready to use within 24 hours." There were areas of the driveway still wet and unable to be walked on 5 days later. Because of this I was unable to completely inspect the job until then. I called the office about several quality issues and was asked to send photos showing my complaints. I took photos and e-mailed them on 9/16. I received an e-mail response reading "I will have someone take a look at the property as soon as possible. Thank You, Lisa Izzi, Manager". After about a week I called and spoke to Lisa. She told me she thought someone was there already and said she would speak to the foreman. Several days later, after not hearing anything, I called again. This call resulted with pretty much the same as the previous call. On 10/8 I e-mailed to both Michele and Lisa: "If I am not contacted by Trinity Paving by this Friday, October 11, I will be in touch with a third party regarding my questions and complaints . . . " The next day this e-mailed response came: "Bill, The crew will be there today, in the afternoon, to resolve the issues. Michele Doyle" Nothing happened that day and as of 10/14, there has been absolutely no communication by anyone from Trinity Paving or inspection by them. With the photos I sent on 9/16, I sent the following to describe my complaints: crack patches that are peeling and raised well above the surface; cracks that are still vulnerable to ice damage; pothole repair that has a very rough surface; crack areas that were supposed to be repaired by "hot torch" but weren't. I did not emphasize the long time for the drying of the seal coat because by this time it was set and was a moot point. One of the reasons I decided to have Trinity do the job was because of the "A" rating they have with the Better Business Bureau. The workmanship complaints I have are bad enough, but what makes it so much worse is the lack of response and communication by them and the broken promises by them. This review will be updated by me in the future because I am in the process of registering a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I will add the results of their findings and, if Trinity Paving ever responds to me, I will post that also. update 11/9/13 It is very discouraging to have to involve a 3rd party in order to get action on a complaint. Two days after the above review was submitted to Angie's List , Trinity Paving came to our property (unannounced and while we were out for the day). This apparently was in response to their receiving a copy of our review sent to them by Angie's List. While here, they filled in more of the cracks as per our complaint, but there were still no "hot torch" repairs. So, unfortunately, they satisfied only part of the issues and, thus, only part of what is listed on their proposal. I e-mailed to Michele (owner) and to Lisa (manager) that the work is not complete and gave a list of each item. I have received no communication from Trinity. As of 11/9/13 I have not yet determined whether to submit a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. Thank you Angie's List for helping me get a response from this contractor and to get at least some additional work they had promised on their proposal.
