Herb Settle was a pleasure to work with, we highly recommend his services. Herb was honest and didn't try to oversell us on additional services we didn't need. We initially thought we would need to have our boiler replaced, but after some checking by Herb it was determined we didn't need to replace the boiler only the air handlers and air compressors. Herb performed the work himself along with his helper exactly as the estimate was written and on schedule. Herb is a knowledgeable, reliable and honest professional whom we felt comfortable having in our home around our family. Will definitely recommend Herb to family, friends or anyone in need of Air and Heating services.

Exceptional! Herb arrived exactly at the appointed time, introduced himself, and asked for the details of the existing HVAC system. We went over the details, as much as I could provide as we have only been in the house 2 months during the summer season. Herb then went into the attic where our two units are located and started to thoroughly inspect them. He replaced the filters and mentioned that the units were 25+ years old, apparently the original ones. We talked about him replacing our existing units in the near future with 98% efficient ones. On Monday June 16 2014 the temperature was 95 degrees. I came home from work at 6 pm after working all day. When I walked in my house it was 86 degrees and central air was blowing warm air. I went on the internet to look for someone to come out to look at my unit. I called 3 numbers one of them being Herb Settle. Other 2 places never called back. Herb called back in about an hour. He said he was very busy and would not be able to get out to look at my unit the next day. I said that was fine. He called me when he got there and said the unit was out of refridgerant and from what he could see there was no visible leaks. He said see what happens next day or two. He did say that I should be looking at replacing the air and the heater due to its age. I advised him that I was planning on replacing everything this coming October. Well a 2 days later it was blowing warm air. I called Herb back. He came out next day and found out that my coil was bad. (rusted out) unable to repair. Herb tried to locate a coil to get the air going again so I could wait till October and replace the heat and air then. He was unable to locate a coil due to its age. I asked for an estimate for replacing my heat and air and when could he do it. His estimate I thought was very fair in price. Herb was very honest with me and said he would not be to have the new air unit installed until a week or less. I was willing to wait due to his honesty. He came back in 2 days and took out the old systems. 2 days later the new air unit was in and working. He then advised me that he would be back in a few days to put the heat in. Which he did and did a very nice neat job. He never left a mess and always cleaned up after working. I would highly recommend him for any furnace and air conditioning work.

Great! System wasn't kicking on. He arrived on time. Went straight to work cleaning system. Problem was dirty flame sensor which he cleaned and reset. That did the trick. Didn't overcharge. Would recommend to anyone!

He was prompt and he did it immediately like the next day. He charged what he told me there will be.

I own a house with a friend in Egg Harbor Twp. On Wednesday afternoon, January 8, my friend noticed that the heat was not working properly and it was a bitterly cold day. On Thursday, I searched Angie?s List and found Herb Settle Heating and A/C and gave Herb a call to report my problem. He immediately called my friend and arranged to meet her at the house to assess the problem. He temporarily fixed what he could, but had to order a special part to complete the job. The part arrived on Saturday, but instead of making my friend wait until Monday to finish the repair, Herb made a special trip to her house and completed the repair on Saturday so that she would have her heat restored in the cold weather we were experiencing. Herb personally did the work. He was professional, neat, polite, accessible, honest and reliable. The bill came to a total of $1037. I told him that I had a 20% off coupon of his from his Angie?s List posting, so he deducted $100 from the bill (reducing it to $937) and gave my friend a credit for $100 toward an A/C service call in the Spring. My friend and I were both satisfied with his professionalism, promptness and honesty, and we look forward to doing business with him in the future if we need his service. I highly recommend Herb!

His price was better than several others. He was meticulously clean and very professional. The installation was done quickly with no problems. He was very honest and came highly recommended by friends.

Herb is a no-nonsense contractor. Seems very knowledgeable. Explained his recommendations: the why, what and how. It was slightly less than other estimates I had received, plus he was honest about what was actually needed...as opposed to pushing add ons that were not necessary. Seemed very trustworthy. Clean and neat. His assistant was also very professional and focused.

Called Herb Settle during the hottest week of the summer because our AC unit had failed. We setup an appointment and he showed up as promised. Based on the age of the unit I was expecting to be told I needed a new unit. That was not Herb's assessment! He basically asked a few questions, grabbed some tools out his truck and in 15 minutes had replaced the failing part. He checked the rest of the system and gave it a clean bill of health. I would definitely use Herb again.

Herb returned our first call from a cruise ship and made arrangements to see us. His estimate was not the lowest, but was within $200 of the lowest and we got a better feeling from Herb than the others. He mentioned appearance and covering of electrical and connecting components. Herb Settle is a true professional of the highest caliber. The job was excellent, workmanship was of the highest quality delivered on time and installed with great pride and care for the homeowner. The job was started and completed exactly when it was supposed to be done and Herb bends over backwards to make sure the customer is satisfied. When I was concerned about the condenser units being at ground level, Herb custom built a nice platform elevating the units and relieving my concern. When I asked if the coil lines could be run without being exposed on the house exterior, Herb took extra time to run the lines inside the house out of anyone's view. It was a pleasure to do business with Herb as he cares for your home and its contents like it was his own. Herb did a wonderful job installing the system. Very prompt and neat with the installation. Loved that he was on the job to oversee the entire process. Highly recommend.

Herb was able to determine that the problem was with one of the burners. He explained to me in full detail what the problem was. He cleaned the burners and checked the unit from top to bottom. He also ran the furnace several times to make sure that their were no further problems. My parents have used Herb Settle Heating & Air Conditioning for over 8 years for their shore house and the quality of his work has always been exemplary and at a very fair price. I purchased my shore house in 2006 and started to use Herb for my heating and air conditioning service as well. Most notable time for me was when I called Herb with a problem regarding one of my air conditioning units whcih would not turn on. It was a Saturday and he called me back promptly and asked me to describe the problem He believed it was just that a fuse had blown because it may have been old and this was the first time that I had turned on the air conditioner for the summer. He told me what fuse to buy. I purchased the fuse and installed it and the unit has worked ever since. He saved me the service call and actually called me up later that day to see how I made out. Another time was when I had a problem in the winter when my son had used the house and had accidentally engaged the AC instead of the heater. When I arrived at the house on a Friday night, the coil unit was completely frozen. I left Herb a message that night and he got back to me within 15 minutes. I told him what had happened and he explained to me what to do which was to cycle the heater unit on and off to gradually melt the ice on the coils. I was able to stay down the shore and got the heater up and running in approximately 2 hours. It is rare to see this type of customer loyalty and as you can tell from my lengthy review, I highly recommend Herb Settle.

Herb is extremely dependable and easily accessible. He is efficient and very reasonable - and gets the job done right the first time. More importantly - he is a good, honest family man. Between 2006-2009 we tried many other HVAC companies, most very large and expensive, however, Herb is a local, small business owner, he is the person who actually shows up at your home, who is good at what he does, and we believe in supporting our locals :)

we met herb several years ago through a contractor who was doing renovations for us. he brought herb in because he thought we needed a seperate air conditioning unit for our second floor. needless to say my husband and i were nervous since we knew it would be a big expense that we didnt count on. herb came in, inspected, and reccommended two return vents be installed. our issue was solved for 500.00 vs thousands of dollars! my husband and i have moved since then. a few years ago, we had a huge snow and ice storm. it was during super bowl weekend. that saturday our heater failed. we brought in portable heaters to keep the house warm through out the night. on super bowl sunday, herb came to fix our heater! none of the streets had been plowed! he happened to have the part that we needed! he charged us probably a third of what anyone else would have charged! now i dont know of any heating company that would do that?! herb is honest and fair. plain and simple. period. when you call herb for a estimate, he will be your frist and last call. no nonsense. no wasting your time with getting several different estimates hearing several different opinions. no need. i would never use anyone else. renee esposito

Job overall was a very good experience.

Wanted to replace AC/Heating system (20 years old) while there were rebates available from the state. Herb Settle HVAC came in with competeive estimate and completed job in professional manner (on time, came when he said he would, cleaned up any mess etc etc) Herb also explained procedure for rebates and followed up a couple of times to ensure the system was working properly. Overall it was a stress free process

He was recommended from a family member and is reliable and dependable. He is very upfront with pricing and fully explains the job; he is a nice fellow on top of it. I shopped around and he was definitely the best price. The quality was impeccable and if you call his number you get him; you don't get a recording. I would recommend this guy to anybody and will use him again in the future. He is a top-notch person who did a quality job.
