He arrived to start the job on the day he was supposed to start. The house was new construction and completely empty. He estimated that it would take 2 weeks to complete the job. In reality it took a month. He arrived daily on or close to on time and then left for a couple of hours almost every day to get more paint. Rarely did he work past 3:30 or 4pm. The job just kept going and going and going which delayed other contractors from getting in to do other work and in reality because of his inability to keep to scheduled it delayed our move in by a month. If this was the end of it, I would still have been ok with it. When the work was completed, he handed me a bill for almost about 20% more then he originally quoted as he said he used more paint then expected (I paid this with no question). Again, if this were the end of it I would have still been ok with it. The reality of it is that I paid for everything in full including the extra charges. When he left (with payment in full), I called him the next day to come back and finish a ceiling that was missed around a light. We also has some minor touch up that was needed in areas where he had painted and just not up to standards. He was to remove all the switch plates and paint. He did some and not others. He said he would take care of it and I was fine with that and we set up a time where he would come back and take care of everything. The time came and went. He was a no show...no call. I called him back and he said he would take care of it and we would touch base the following week. I called him the next week and left him a message to call me back. No return call. I emailed him, texted him and kept calling. This went on for about 6 weeks. He never returned a call, an email or text. I went out and bought the paint and finished the job myself.

Response from Colorwork Custom Painting & Faux Effect
I should have known when I showed up on the first day of the project and had to ask Member five time for a deposit that it was going to be tough dealing with him. A local businessman himself, with a horrible reputation, I should have backed out on that day. To make a long story short, he continually added things to the job with no mention of paying extra for them, i.e., every door in the house needed an additional coat because he changed the color, and he was upset that I charged him. I will keep it professional, but every contractor that walked in made a comment about Member and his belief that work should be done for free. I suggested to Member that next time he hire Habitat for Humanity.
