Richie closed the pool last September and I was impressed by his professionalism and expertise. He noticed and fixed a minor installation problem with the new pool pump (not installed by Richie). He told me that when he opened a pool, he would let the pool cover dry for a while outside rather than put it away wet. This was of interest to me, since the wooden floor of the shed had been damaged by the wet pool cover placed there after opening. Richie chose the exact date and time for the appointment, and did not show up between 9 and 9:30 am as he promised. I called at 9:45 to see if the appointment was still on. No one picked up, but fortunately Richie and crew arrived at 10 am. When I told him I was concerned that he might not show up, Richie replied, "I guess we're running late" without any apology. After the pool had been opened, Richie informed me there was no backwash hose. The hose had been present and attached to the filter when Richie and crew closed the pool. All pool equipment had been left untouched in the shed where the crew put it last September. I told Richie that in the 17 other occasions I have opened the pool, there had never been any equipment missing. Richie said that his crew had not stolen the hose. I told Richie I didn't think the crew stole a used backwash hose. I suspect that it was accidentally taken away by the crew when the pool was closed and then discarded. I now had to go out and purchase a new hose and clamp, because I would have to backwash the filter that evening. Before the crew left, I found the wet cover in the shed, sitting on the wooden floor. The crew had also left the garden hose in the middle of the pool deck. I told Richie it would have been nice if the crew had bothered to put the hose back where they found it, and asked that the cover be removed from the shed. Once again, there was no apology for these lapses. When the crew removed the wet cover from the shed (leaving a large wet area on the wooden floor), the hose was also put back where it belonged. The pool opening cost $24.60 over and above what Richie charged, because I had to purchase a replacement backwash hose and clamp. The total cost was $421.57.

The guy from Richie's Pool Supplies & Service did a good job and he wasn’t expensive. The job took him two days instead of one which is okay but he had to come back and check a few things periodically and he never called us. The communication wasn’t all that great but he did a very nice job installer the liner for my pool.
