Was solicited by a Power employee in BJ's about getting a quote for any home remodeling I wished. Set up an appointment the for next day. Received 3 calls prior to visit confirming appointment. Salesman came along with a recent hiree who was in training. The meeting started off with ultra politeness plus a walk around entire first floor of house. We then went outside to review the project from the ground. There was snow on the roof but we visually inspected and went back inside. Was informed that they used sattelite imagery to compute the square footage of the roof. Mentioned that we did not want the roof of a recent addition included as part of the project. We were then subjected to approx 3 hours of Power's roofing methodology (was informative) plus what I would refer to as badgering and harrassment (not informative). Was finally given a price of over $40,000 for the project. When I realized the salesman included the recent addition roof, he revised his price to $34,518. Said thank you but no sale as I had not yet gotten any competitive quotes and I would not buy his product on the spot. He lowered the price if I would buy right then. Reiterated I would not buy until I received more quotes. Salesman then stated he may be able to lower price even more if certain conditions were met. I emphatically said no deal. The salesman and trainee asked to look in the attic. I agreed but no deal today. After a cursory review of the attic the scare tactics started - mold, they had never seen a roof in such bad condition, wet roof boards/leaks, possible collapse of roof with weight of snow. Finally asked them to leave and don't call. If I was interested I would call them. I received a call from them everyday for about the next 2 weeks - I recognized the numbers and intentionally did not answer. I contacted 3 other roof installers and received prices about 1/3 of Power's price. Have recently contracted with one of the suppliers for a new roof. I urge homeowners to steer clear of Power Home Remodeling - an unscrupulous company that tries to gouge with bulldozing, scare and bully tactics.

Response from Power Home Remodeling
We apologize for the inconvenience - we've flagged your profile within our system and you will no longer be receiving any phone calls. As far as the 'scare tactics' - we've worked with over 125,000 customers in our 22 years of business. Working within that many homes over that long a time period, we've come pretty close to seeing it all - and there are some very unfortunate horror stories from customers who put off getting work done that have resulted in serious damage to their home, raising the cost of repairs significantly. The remodeling consultant you met with during your estimate - Alfred - has been with the company for a good period of time and has seen these types of situations first hand. While I can't speak to exactly what was communicated in-home, I'm confident that Alfred was trying to communicate his concerns in your best interests, as roofing issues such as mold and rot are matters not to be taken lightly. While you may not be continuing your roofing project with Power, we sincerely advise you get your roof looked at by another professional quickly so that these issues do not lead to larger problems down the line. If you'd like to discuss your experience further, please feel free to contact me directly. Yours in Service, Ray Lodato Customer Advocacy Manager Power Home Remodeling Group 610.874.5000 x2260

had some hiccups getting the project done they did the initial order correct, but when the project supervisor came it was wrong. he changed it but when they came to install the windows they had ordered a double hung instead of the picture. so they had to leave and reschedule when they got the right window. once they had the right windows, they came and the project went easy after that. crew was very professional and worked quickly. I would use them again. the salesman they followed up with however was very pushy with my wife to finish the whole house, even when he explained she had come into some health issues and we could not spend the money right then.

They were well organized and friendly. They answered my questions, even when I interrupted their work. They completed their work fast and cleaned up after themselves. An inspector came out right after they finished to ask me questions about the service they provided as well as to check their work. Only problem ( or benefit, depending upon how you view it)- be ready for another sales pitch for more work. If you do have more to do, talk to them but be ready to look for alternatives to keep your cost down, ex, ask for better interests rates if you do agree to have more work down.

High quality energy efficient windows installed. The process from start to finish was high quality - from the initial estimate, to the installation, to the follow up by the quality manager. The installers were quick (less than 4 hrs) and cleaned up after themselves. All work was done talking to actual people live that took time to answer all my questions. Top notch windows and a top notch process.

The window job was excellent: 1. Calls to confirm correct installation date and time, before and on day of arrival. 2. Foreman on job and quality supervisor and another supervisor when job was done. 3. Quality of the windows was excellent. 4. Installation was very correct and accurate. 5. Clean-up was done by men with a vacuum. 6. Courtesy of all was exceptional.

New roof. Power Home Remodeling Group was great. They were on time each and every day. The workers were polite. The foreman checked in with me to see if I had any questions or concerns. He also came and inspected the work after it was finished and took pictures to show me. The cleanup was amazing. You would never know anything was done.Even my neighbors commented on the cleanup and how quickly it was done.It did take a day longer than they said it would, but I didn't mind.

Went very well, we did not expect to have to replace the plywood however, this did not delay the process, the roof was installed in a day (and a few hours on a second day). The gutter and insulation installations also went smoothly. Their prices are high but when we look at our roof in comparison to other new roofs in the neighborhood ours definitely looks like a better quality.

A Power representative walking around the neighborhood knocks on my door on a Thursday. Very clean-cut, polite young man. He says representatives will be in the area for the next couple of days to give free estimates for window replacements. I made an appointment for Saturday at noon. We get a call on Friday to confirm. I was busy at the time so I had to call back, but I spoke to someone around 7:30 Friday night and confirmed. OK, by this time, I had already read some reviews on Angie’s List that made me aware that the free estimate appointment was “thorough” and could take at least a few hours. So I was already a little on my guard when around 10 a.m. on Saturday (today), I receive a recorded message from Power, asking me to call to confirm – again. I called back to confirm and spoke to someone who asked me several times if 12 noon was a good time. He also wanted to make sure that my husband would be there. Then, he asks if I have any other plans that afternoon which the estimate might “bump into.” Here is the rest of our conversation, as closely as I can remember it: “Well,” I said, “I do have plans to go out for dinner.” “That’s fine,” he replied. “I assume your dinner plans are for some time in the late afternoon?” “Yes,” I said. “But I certainly wouldn’t expect the estimate to take that long. I am only interested in replacing three windows in one room. From my point of view someone should be able to give an estimate for those in half an hour, maybe 45 minutes. Anything beyond that would be ridiculous.” “Well, I wouldn’t call it ridiculous,” he said, as jovially as he could. (I could tell he was trying to be polite, knowing I was putting up some resistance.) “Everything is done at one time. We get measurements and give our customers as much information as possible so that you'll get the best price… [yada, yada]….” “OK,” I said. “But I have to work this afternoon. I have my own business and I have some jobs to complete. I didn’t expect this to take up the afternoon.” “Well, we don’t want to interfere with your work, “he said solicitously. "We don’t want you to lose any money. Is there a better time when you will be available?” “Not really. This is a busy time for me.” It’s now painfully clear to me that these people want come in, invest a lot of time explaining things so I’ll feel obligated, give me an overpriced estimate, haggle with me as they slowly bring the price down, and not leave until they get the sale. I've worked with a lot of contractors and this tactic does not work with me. At this point I’m thinking this was a bad idea. The Power guy obviously was thinking the same thing. He said, “I am going to cancel the appointment. We don’t want to interfere with your work. I’ll take you off the list.” We’ll see how that goes.

Overall, very well. Installation was interrupted by rain, but they still managed to get everything done in 2 days. They did a great job cleaning up, too. We had a minor issue with the screen locking tabs and they came out and replace them. Will have to wait and see how much we save on heating oil costs.

Someone from Power Home Remodeling knocked on my door. They asked if we were interested in Windows, siding or roofing. I would like two windows replaced. So he set up an appointment that was convenient for my wife and myself. The sales man came on time. He gave a very lengthy and thorough presentation. We negotiated on the price and made the appointment. Power called to confirm the appointment for the windows to be installed. Steve and Ed were are installers. They came on time. A Power representative called to see what time the installers arrived. They went over the job with me. They put down clean drop cloths. They used a HEPA vacuum. They vacuumed every time there was a little sawdust or dirt. Project Manager Mike arrived. He asked if the job was going as planned. Yes, I said. Steve and Ed are very professional,do quality work and are skilled craftsmen. Outside all scrap wood and debris was neatly contained in plastic. There was a problem with one of the screens they installed. Mike removed it and Had Ed rescreen it on the spot. . A Power representative called around 4pm. She asked what time they would be done . I said about 4:30pm. She asked what time the Quality Assurance representative could come. I said 5pm. Sure enough, 5pm on the dot Dave showed up. He asked if the job met with our approval. We said yes, however there was a small scratch on one of the handle basses. Dave immediately called service and had an appointment a week from friday. Over all the service, windows and installation was excellent. Cudos to Steve and Ed for doing an amazing job. There attention to detail was outstanding. Power Home remodeling goes the extra mile.

My story is surprisingly similar to others written here. In fact, nearly exact, so I won't get into all the same details. The salesman was on time, was very friendly and informative. The products and service seem to be high end and the quality that we are looking for in a roofer (we had already had at least 5 estimates so we had a good base with which to compare). The agent who set up the appointment informed me that both my wife and I needed to be present at home (which is difficult enough to accomplish) and that the presentation would take about 45 minutes. I was willing to give them that kind of time, especially when it seemed like a good product. Unfortunately, everything went south from there. The entire process took over 3 hours!!! Despite some initially subtle and later not-so-subtle hints that we needed to wrap it up, the sales agent continued to push us into signing a contract immediately to get the big discount (originally $32000 ending at around $24000). We just didn't have the time or the patience to continue listening and it's too bad because it truly does seem like a good product and service. With all these similar postings, I hope the company takes a hint and reworks their presentation so that they do not continue to lose potential customers. No matter how good the product, no one wants to feel that kind of pressure when making the decision to spend that kind of money.

The two workers who were sent for the job arrived about ten minutes before their estimated time when they called to let us know they were on their way. They did the entire 14-window installation in one day. They were neat and cleaned up each window site as soon as that window was installed. They did a really excellent job installing new window frames on the two largest installations. They cleaned up thoroughly after the project's completion. The new windows are a major improvement over our last ones, and we are very happy with the job. We would certainly consider using Power again on a future project.

It all started out seemingly well. The sales rep who did the estimate was very pleasant. He arrived exactly at the time agreed. He did what appeared to be very thorough assessment of the condition of the roof, he went into the attic to see the wood. He gave us a very accurate estimate. What we didn't like is how we felt pressured to make a decision on the spot. We got more than one price, the lowest being the one in which we sign a contract immediately. The entire process took more than 3 hours. It was very long. We knew the price was high but we were promised a high quality product and a worry free, professional installation. A project manager came by maybe a week or so later to double check the estimate, and to view the work site. He was pleasant and quick. The project had to be rescheduled once due to unsuitable weather conditions. By then the availability was limited and we had to accept dates that were somewhat inconvenient. The work was scheduled to be done on two separate days. It actually took 3 days. The first job was the roof installation. The workers arrived promptly. The cleanup was good. However, when the sales rep did the assessment we saw that the wood around the chimney was very damaged and needed to be replaced. This was one of the biggest concerns with regard to the roof. He assured us that the roofing team would replace all damaged wood. We specifically asked if the workers would have a copy of his report so they woud know what work needed to be done and he assured us that they would. When the roof install was complete and we went to check the work we discovered that the wood around the chimney had not been replaced! When we told the team leader he told us that from the outside the wood did not look damaged. A small team returned 3 days later to replace the wood around the chimney. A second team came 2 days after the roof install to replace the soffit and the gutters. We had a difficult time communicating with most of the workers. They did not speak English well. We mostly communicated through one worker who spoke our language. We are not happy with the work overall. The roof leaked around the chimney within the first week. Twice teams came to the house to try to repair the work but all they did was apply silicone around the chimney. Power Home Remodeling Group refuses to do any more work on the roof claiming that the problem is with the chimney. There was no leaking with the old roof that was over 25 years old. We feel that if they believed there was a problem with the chminey they should have told us. The shingles look old and worn less than 2 months after installation. There are areas that look warped. The installation looks sloppy. They did not replace the edging around the roof, reinstalling the old one. It looks old and wrinkled. They did not replace all of the damaged wood around the chimney even after they came back to do it. They applied large, ugly different sized planks of wood from the inside. This did not seem the appropriate way to replace the wood. There are large gaps between the edge of the roof and the gutters resulting in excessive leaking of water through the gaps. The workers applied large globs of silicone to stop the leaking behind the gutters. It looks awful. Fortunately it's not visible from anywhere except up on the roof. We have a contract for the windows and when we tried to cancel it after we began having problems with the roof we were threatened with a doubled interest rate on the financing and a cancellation fee. This issue is still unresolved. We are sorry we ever did business with this company and we would not recommend them to anyone. We went with them because we were promised a superior quality product and service but that is not what we got. Furthermore, the frequent appointments were tedious.

The sales experience went well. The person was very knowledgeable, very informative and very professional. For the most part I was satisfied with the installation. A regional manager came towards the end of their work and they had been packing up ready to leave. They did additional insulation work on the outside of a couple of windows. The windows are relatively new so I am still evaluating them. So far, so good. Their price was on the high side. They were very punctual.

The installers took their time surveying my property before the stripping and prepping started. All my plants and solar lamps where stored away in a safe place in my garage. Only replaced what was needed to complete my installation and showed me the areas needing special attention. No runs to Home Depot because they had all the material needed to complete the project. Would I use them for future projects YES most definitely, and the bonus I'm expecting a representative to inspect the completed project. Redundancy, is what separates the amateurs from the pros and Power is simply that a staff of professionals.

The work was done on two seperate dates. The team that showed up for the window and door instillation were amazing. They were very professional and very clean. They replaced 5 basement hoppers, 4 windows, a 3 foot door, and one 6 foot sliding door in a single day. The team that took care of the insulation seemed to be very rushed. They did their best to clean up after they were done but we still had more clean up to do after they left. Not too much but was a let down after the window team. All the products have lived up to what was promised and we couldn't be happier with the end results.

We replaced 16 (36"x53") windows in our home. The job was done in 2 days and at the end of both days the house was left in the exact same condition the workers had found it in except for the fact we had new windows. Both days the workers came in a 3 man team and were sure to keep us informed of everything that was going on as it happened. They even re-installed a HUGE window air conditioning unit before they left. That was greatly appreciated.

I guess they are a big company and they're spreading out. Their service was kind of expensive but I guess their materials were good. They did what they said they were going to do. I think they did pretty good clean up, even though there was still some left over. In January it was snowing and so they did the best they could. They were kind of a little expensive, but I guess it depends on what a person thinks about them and about spending the money. I had a leak and I think they cured it, and that leak was going on for quite a while. I think they finally found the problem and got to the root of it.
Description of Work: I used Power Home Remodeling Group for doing my roof and gutters. They do the roofing and all around the sides.

replacement windows

PHRG's installers arrived on time and were professional and courteous. It took them 2 days to complete the project which including carting away all the old windows and doors. We have now had the windows for 2 weeks and are extremely happy with our decision. The windows and doors have significantly reduced the heat from the sunlight and the outside noise coming into our home.
Description of Work: PHRG came to give my wife and I a sales pitch on their products. The sales pitch lasted for about 3 hours. The sample window demonstrated was extremely impressive as far as craftsmanship and the insulation quality. The price included replacing all 7 windows of varying sizes and 2 sliding glass doors in our townhouse. While the price seemed expensive we decided that it was time to replace the drafty windows and doors.
