Don and his team were great! The day that I was supposed to met Don for the consultation, I got stuck at work. When I called Don to inform him, he promised to wait. He waited for 40 minutes. During our meeting, we walked around the property. Don gave me tips as we walked around; he was very knowledgeable, so much so that I asked him if he would price additional services. Don provided a detail estimate of all the services for which I asked and agreed to provide the services in a phased approach, making it more financially manageable. He and his team will soon begin work on a new front porch and walkway, and I can't wait to see the results!

If you want an honest landscape service then look no further. Don answered the phone every single time I called and was prompt, clean and efficient. He performed the exact services we hired him for and actually fixed part of my fence that was broken. Great service!

Isaac came out and had some great ideas, but never came back.

They have been with us for 5years. They have done four gardens, one walk way and front steps. All work was perfect and professional. Now they cut the grass and later in the Spring they will upgrade one garden after consultation. Highly recommended.

Isaac came to estimate the scope of the work. He was very thorough an knowledgeable. We met with a lot of landscapers, he was by far the most knowledgeable and reliable. We eventually postponed the project for next year, but will call them back for sure.

I called to ask for an estimate for lawn mowing but was told in my area they did other landscaping but not lawn mowing. From Angie's List description it appeared my town was in their service area, but after the phone call I looked at the web site and saw it did specify my area was not included for lawn mowing. I found this happened with a few companies so I learned to look at the web sites before calling.

Called for estimate on patio work. Fellow was not the most knowledgeable in terms of the work I needed done as he did not mention some of the specific details in the project that other contractors had indicated. I was quite surprised at his estimate as it still ended up being the highest. I quickly sent him on his way. Did not hire.

Went great, as usual. We have used D&S consistently over the last 8 years and are never disappointed. They have done a great job for us time and time again throughout the years. You can probably find cheaper, but in my experience, you get what you pay for and D&S provides quality work each and every time.

Called D&S on Sunday afternoon and spoke directly with Don who was very pleasant. Asked for an estimate he came within 48 hours and promptly gave us a reasonable estimate. Work was completed within the week. All of the landscapers were professional, courteous and helpful. Landscaping that was done makes our house look 100% more beautiful.

He made an appointment, was on time, and very forthright. He was very honest about what needed to be done and also made recommendations to me for when I had the work done. He gave me recommendations off of what I actually needed not what he would make money off of. I decided not to have my lawn redone.

I have called D & S for lawn maintenance, spring cleanup and grass cutting. They provided me estimates with all details and appointment date promptly. Estimates were fair and as per market price. I agreed and scheduled appointment. Later I wanted to change the appontment date because of fertizer/weed control treatment and wanted to reschedule appointment date. We were not able to reach each other and i have to go to someone else. I suggest the vendor to have a customer support professional who can answer the client calls. Otherwise we will have speak through voicemails and we will have lot of confusion.

They were very responsive. They did what they said they were going to do. They gave us some very good ideas about landscaping and we were very happy with it.

We are really happy with their services. The project manager was really nice. Once we had a problem with the materials, when the color of the stone was not matching. He went above and beyond and reordered the stone so there wouldn't be any color variation.

Very much impressed with D&S. You can not go wrong with D&S. We've continually used them for followup maintenance work.

For a number of years, I had been putting off hiring someone to take care of regular yard maintenance since I could no longer do it myself due to health issues. Just before I was to leave on vacation, I got a notice from the town about the lack of maintenance. I addressed all of the issues identified in the notice and made a mental note to take care of hiring someone when I returned. I returned from vacation two weeks later to find a court summons, requiring me to appear in court 12 days later. I contacted a number of landscaping companies in the area to get a quote and was very impressed with the responsiveness of D&S Landscaping. They returned my call within 24 hours, came within a few days to look at the work needed and provide me with a quote, which was in the ball-park of what I had anticipated. The work was completed a week later, which gave me enough time to take ?after? pictures for court.

D&S did a beautiful job of cleaning and replanting our lawns, especially a hard-to-grow patch which is now lush and beautiful. they are courteous and professional. Don, the owner, is very patient in explaining the various plants and techniques he uses. we have them on a long term contract and are very pleased with the service.

Several years ago, D&S did a fine job hardscaping our back yard. It was a big job, done with sensitivity and imagination. We were delighted at the time. After a few years, a few patio areas began sinking -- probably because of an old tree that had stood there, whose roots continued to decay. We called D&S, and Isaac came by within days to check it out. Although we expected to be charged at a maintenance rate, Isaac immediately volunteered that the repair would be taken care of for free, as part of their commitment to their customers. He just asked that we wait for a convenient time for D&S to do the work. It did take a few reminder phone calls, but Isaac always confirmed they would do the work, and today their mason is here filling and relaying the affected area. I'm very impressed: D&S did a good job to start with, and unhesitatingly stood behind their product and maintained it, even when they could have blamed other circumstances. The pride and professionalism we observed back in 2008 are alive and well at D&S Landscaping.

They were fine. I was satisfied with them. I would recommend them. They were right on time. They weren't cheap; they weren't expensive.

Please also think of your neighbors when you hire a landscape service. Excess noise and pollution is very undesirable. I would not recommend this company.

On the day of the service, we were not at home. We left home early and by noon when we came, we were welcomed by a pool table type yard. If my wife and I fell in love with the house before, we fell in love with it all over again. The job was meticulous, clean and very professionally done. I immediately called up Don and thanked him for a job very well done. Since we were not at home, I couldn't give the payment check and Don was okay with collecting at a later date. I have decided to use them for my weekly cutting.We now have an estimate from Don on yard cleaning and design which we are currently planning and budgeting. I am sure to hire D&S back for this job in due time. Thanks for a job well done and hope it remains the same throughout our service agreement.

I went to rising sun landscaping to see if they could refer me to someone that works on koi ponds and i was given the number to D & S Landscaping and was told to speak to Isaac who was a former employee of Rising Sun. I spoke to Isaac on the phone, asked him if he had experience working on koi ponds(he assured me that he had designed and built many koi ponds in the past) and made an appointment for him to come and see my pond. He came to my house on 3/29/11 at which time i explained to him exactly what i needed to be done, he wrote up a proposal on a form that had a 2010 Angie's List Super Service Award stamp in the upper right corner. We agreed on a total of $1000, I gave him a $200 cash deposit and he told me he would be back in 3 weeks to begin the job. After he did not show up I placed numerous calls and received numerous excuses as to why he still had not begun the job. No work was started until the middle of June. He came to my house around 8 a.m. with three workers, briefly explained what I wanted done and then left to go to another job. By 2 p.m. they had finished digging the pond and spent the next two and a half to three hours sitting around waiting for Isaac to bring the materials for the terrace wall. When he arrived he had no materials so he and the workers left and said they would be back the following day. He returned the next day to drop off the workers and materials for the terrace wall then left to go on to another job. After installing the terrace wall they attempted to lay the pond liner that I supplied only to realize that they had dug the pond larger than the dimensions that I had requested which rendered the liner useless. The pond ended up being 7 1/2 x 10 1/2 and is also completely uneven (higher on 1 side and lower on the other). The workers called Isaac to inform him of their mistake then sat for 2 hours while waiting for Isaac to return and tell them what to do next. After he finally showed up he informed me that a larger liner was needed so I recommended he get it at Animals and Things in Woodbridge but he said that he would get it from a store that he knew of. He returned three hours later with the new liner folded up and without any outer wrapping or packaging which prompted me to inquire if the liner was a 45-mil epdm rubber liner which is the standard for ponds and he assured me that it was. He then told me that I would need to give him the three hundred dollars for the liner which I gave him in cash that same day. I asked for a receipt for the liner from the store that he purchased it but never received it. I also asked for the warranty that comes with the pond liner but got the same run around as when i asked for the receipt. The new liner was installed and then the clean stone (which didn't come in a palette but was brought in small piles each day as if it were being brought from different jobs) was installed to fill the side wall. The clean stone was left unsealed and placed with no uniformity which basically created a wall of sharp, jagged, jutting rocks that cause my koi fish ongoing injuries in the form of open cuts, abrasions, lacerations and infection. One koi lost an eye and still one more lost his life due to the resulting infection of a cut to his face(since the wall is unsealed it causes food to become lodged in the uneven crevices of the wall which leads to self-injury as they try to dis-lodge the trapped food pellets). The entire wall was installed over the pump wire which prevents me from being able to maintain it or clean it in any way. If the pump should fail an entire section of the so called 'clean stone' wall will have to be dismantled just so the entire pump can be removed. The waterfall was built by stacking all different randomly shaped and sized rocks on top of each other which left the waterfall completely unstable and sloppy looking. The waterfalls main purpose is to circulate the water of the pond to keep it from becoming stagnant and rotten but they built it so the water would flow behind the rock wall instead of over it. I recently had a legitimate pond designer come to survey what had been done and what it would cost me to correct all the things that were done wrong and he informed me that my current $300 'pond liner' is actually a low cost landscaping tarp that will deteriorate at a rapid rate since it is not even rubber but just cheap plastic. please refer to the pictures that are posted below.
