Description of Work: Cleaning of two area carpets

Description of Work: We used Rug Renovating. They did cleaning and restoration of area rugs.

Description of Work: At the recommendation of a friend, I called Rug Renovating Co and was put in contact with Morgan Williams (sales consultant). I told him that my family had just moved into a house that had been left pretty clean by the previous owners, however, I wanted to sanitize the carpets before moving in. Morgan related the following: "In order to do a thorough cleaning and sanitation of your carpeting, we use the hot water method (not shampoo, since this tends to push dirt into the rug). The hot water method removes dust mites, grime and old dirt from the carpet. Other companies may charge less, but to compensate for this, they schedule a lot of customers per day resulting in a rushed, poor cleaning job of your carpet. At Rug Renovating, we schedule plenty of time for each and every customer; because we don't overbook, we give each client the customized service and the time they deserve." | |Morgan quoted $756.00 to clean and sanitize the basement and the office carpets and three staircases. When asked how long the job would take, Morgan estimated the job would take "three to three and a half hours". I told him that another company had given me a quote of $400.00 for this job and I asked him why Rug Renovating was charging so much more. Again, Morgan stated that the extra time and care this company gives to each and every job justified their higher fees. Nothing could be further from the truth. | |I hired Rug Renovating Co and the job was scheduled for June 24 from 12 to 3PM. Two men arrived at 1:10PM and they were done and gone from the house by 2:15PM. In the hour the men were at the house there was simply not enough time allotted to do the job Morgan had described this company would do, with some areas not done at all and some areas showing streaks and unevenness. | |The following day I called Morgan and related the above. He said he would send a senior representative to the house to review the situation. Walter came to the house on July 1. As I began to explain the situation, Walter cut me off, refusing to listen. He said the cleaning had been done, period, end of the conversation. Walter was rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. | |On a subsequent phone call with Morgan I told him of Walter's inappropriate behavior. I told Morgan that the inadequate job done was as unacceptable as was Walter's behavior, and furthermore that charging me $756.00 for one hour of work was gouging a customer. I requested a 50% refund (this still allowed $378.00 of payment for the one hour the men were at the house) but my request was refused. Eventually Morgan was authorized to grant a 15% percent refund as gesture of "good faith". | |There was nothing to like in the way Rug Renovating Co conducted business; my experience with this company was deeply unsatisfactory. Buyer: beware. |

Description of Work: I used the services of Rug Renovating Co Inc. for carpet cleaning about a year ago.

Description of Work: Rug picked up and delivered as scheduled by very polite/helpful workers. Services arranged via telephone and accurate estimate received for each service that was requested. Telephone contacts were always pleasant, helpful and efficient. Very dirty, ivory colored, oriental carpet was cleaned, moth proofed, fiber guard applied and new fringes attached by hand.
