Called 8pm Thursday night after discovering leaking hot water heater in lower level. Got an excellent quote ($1350) to replace a 75 gallon gas hot water heater. I had gotten other quotes of $1700, $2100, range of $2000-$3000 from others listed here on AngiesList. They called me on Friday and arrived at the house at noon. They removed and replaced the heater in 1 hour!! No mess, cleaned up after themselves. I am VERY Pleased!! I will use these guys again for other plumbing needs.

The installers came in the first time, installed the heaters but said the vent not meeting the code and had to come back,. They left a mess on that day, a wet floor and dirty and rusty water stains on my carpet. Most of all, one of the installers was in a very bad mood for whatever reason. Came in the second time, installed the vent and a new vault but accidently opened my irrigation system. I noticed it a couple of weeks later and had to redo the winterization. The manager of the company was nice enough to refund the cost of redoing the winterization. Overall, the products were good and work properly so far. But it was not a very pleasant process.

After sending them a few photos to view, they were very helpful describing what could/could not be done as per what I needed and seemed to be available relatively quickly should I had chosen to go with their firm.

It appears that NJ Water Heaters uses local plumbers to do the installation work. Initially we were pleased with the installation, until we had our inspection from our city. It failed, and the inspector said that the installer should check with the city before quoting and installing a job to know the city's requirements. Our city, Summit, NJ, required an overflow tank. The local installer had to come back to our home to install the overflow tank at an additional cost to us. It will also require a second inspection and a second permit fee. So, if you use them, be sure YOU contact your city and know YOUR city's requirements before accepting their bid.

We use our own plumbers that work for our company and get paid by us and if town wants an exspantion tank we do it but we try to save the customers we install $$$ and most all town do not require it plus you do not ever pay twice for a permit for the same job they come for the same fee

Noticed a leaking water heater on a Sunday morning, called and got an immediate response and price quote. Confirmed the appointment on Monday, new heater was installed (and old one hauled away) on Tuesday. Quick, professional, on time. Very satisfied with the work and the price (especially the fact that installed pricing is on the website). Extra pleased with the responsive service, would happily recommend these guys.

Overall the experience was very smooth.
Description of Work: My hot water heater was leaking from the pressure release valve, they cam in and installed an expansion tank to fix the problem, after this didint work they came back and told me I needed a new tank becasue were the pressure release valve was probebly cracked. They noticed my old tank was only 5 years old and it was probebly under warenty. I called GE and sure enough it was, GE told me I need to take the old tank out and bring it back to Home Depot and get a new one. They took care of everything for me, they came with the new tank, took out the old one and they bought it back to Home Depot and got the credit for the old one. They were in and out in about 1 hour. Steve at the office was very informative and explained everything to me.

It was not an emergency replacement, and so I was fine with schedulng an appointment within 3 days of my call for service. They confirmed the price of the replacement would be as indicated on their website. The price was the best I had found after checking numerous websites and calling several other companies (about $300 less than the PSE&G quote). The installers were from Riteway Plumbing & Electrical Contracting. They arrived an hour after the scheduled time. This did not overly inconvenience me since I had planned to be home that afternoon. They removed the old water heater, carried it out, and installed the new model. They were friendly, efficient and professional. I would use this company again.

Shopped a few places and decided on WaterheatersNJ.com. The prices and products quoted over the phone were as explained. No surprises. The owners were very responsive but the office staff person was not. The job was done quickly and professionally and I would use them again. Service tech (Carmine?) was polite, neat and clearly competent. He replaced a 50 gallon hot water heater and did two other small plumbing repairs during the +/- 2 hour visit.

WaterheatersNJ was prompt in replying back to my inquiry for a broken water heater. They were selected as the company to use because they were the only ones willing to install a Bradford White water heater to replace the one I had. They charged me an additional $75 to use the bradford white heater. The installer arrived promptly and I was present during the installation. I feel that the installer was in a rush to leave more than to take the time to make sure he did a clean job. I asked him as a safety favor to verify all of the connections for the gas lines didn't have any leaks. He kept reassuring me they weren't, and I had to check myself using soap water. I also had questions regarding the water shutoff valve which fed the tank, and the installer didn't take the time to inspect the valve to see if it was leaking as I had suspected. Although I understand the need to complete a job quickly for most contractors (20 mins in my case), I am also very concerned with educating the customer and doing a professional job. The water heater is working and I hope it's not leaking carbon monoxide from the vent pipe that the installer put more holes into while trying to get it to mate with the heater. Overall I am satisfied that the unit is working, but time will tell if they did a good job with the installation. I don't know if it was also standard practice to use teflon paste for every connection? I thought there is a different type of paste needed for the gas lines? They did honor their coupon of 3% off for all angie's list members. Update 11/12/10: My new water heater leaked a week ago from the pressure relief valve. I made contact with waterheatersnj in an attempt to find out what happened. I was promptly advised that since I purchased a Bradford White water heater, they did not service them and I would have to contact Bradford White. After making several calls to various places, I finally got fed up and told Bradford White Corporation to take charge for a faulty water heater. Eventually I was able to get someone to come to my house to service the unit and replace the pressure relief valve. WaterHeatersNJ was not very helpful since they immediately took a defensive role.

water heater started leaking Sunday. Called several companies and they seemed to offer the best value. I like that they are the only company that I came across which displays upfront pricing on their website. Be aware that their price does not include new flues or pressure valves or bonding wires. I think their website does note this. Tried to do some research on brands and Rheem was highly rated, which is the brand this company sells. I went with the Energy Star rated heater. Overall, a good experience. They were punctual, removed the old heater and installed the new heater in a couple of hours.

Very responsive. I had already had PSEG check unit and knew it needed to be replaced "soon". Only problem was that had specifically asked for an install after noon as I had a dr's appt in the morning, and was told I would given the last appt of the day. Instead they called after I had left for the dr to tell me they were on their way at 9 am. They did change the appt to end of day and everything went very well.

HWH started to leak on sunday night. I called at 7am Monday, thinking I'd leave a message, but they answered. Gave me a quote right away and after the office opened, they scheduled an afternoon installation. They arrived within the time period quoted, and did the installation very quickly (although I had already drained the HWH, which saved some time). They also had all the paperwork for the permit/inspection done ahead of time. Overall I am very satisfied with the job.

Service was excellent. Not much else to say.
Description of Work: I had my water heater replaced. I had called several plumbing companies and most did not pick up the phone or get back to me. Then the one or two I did get they could not get out to me quick enough. My friend told me about Angie's List and gave me 2 numbers from guys on it. I called waterheatersnj.com and they gave me next day service. The price was great as well. I got a 40 gallon for under $700. They were in and out kept to their appointed time. Everything was cleaned up after.
