The outlet where I have my computer, printer, etc. plugged into started to make a buzzing sound. I unplugged everything and called Don after finding him on Angie's List. He came over same day, checked my wiring and said it was good and that the outlet just needed to be replaced. He did it on the spot and just charged me the service fee. Super nice, very knowledgable. Will definitely use him again.

Don really knows his stuff. He performed the work expertly and in a timely manner.

When I purchased my house four months ago, I did so knowing that there were some problems with the GFCI outlets in the kitchen. Some other small fixes piled up in the intervening two months. My biggest need was a fix for a grounding problem in the room I planned to use as my office; it wasn?t a big deal for powering lights or a fan, but surge suppressors for computer equipment don?t work unless the grounding does. Don Kemper, the owner, came by to see what all needed to be done. He made a list of everything I needed. The bulk of the work would not be expensive, but he warned me that the grounding/polarity problem in my office might be difficult to find, and the hourly rate could add up if his guy needed to spend most of a day to do so. I accepted the risk. Work commenced about two weeks later, as I wanted to take the entire day off. Mr. Kemper sent one of his employees, Louis, to handle the job. Everything was handled skillfully and with attention to detail and doing the job right ? there were a couple of times where he was clearly concerned that removing faceplates would damage the over-painted wall along with the plate. The quality of the work came first, but he was always paying attention to how it would look, too. Louis performed most of the work on circuits while they were live, and only had one ?oops? moment: while opening a junction box in the attic, an old, poorly done connection suddenly came undone, knocking out the lights to half the second floor. I don?t consider that his fault ? that junction box was a rat?s nest of wire nuts, which he then took apart and reconnected, explaining to me the difference of ?before? and ?after?. Only complaint I had about the work was that he tested the fix to the GFCI in the kitchen with a circuit tester, which showed all outlets on the circuit were fine. But the next day, the instant I plugged anything into the two ?chained? outlets past the GFCI, the fault switch would trip, even for tiny amounts of power usage. Louis came back on Saturday and added a second GFCI, which he said would balance it out, which it did. Louis was friendly and informative. He seemed to want to do stuff the right way the first time around, so that there wasn?t a second fix required. This was undoubtedly why he knocked a bit off the price for the GFCI outlets he had to come back for. I?m very happy that I seem to have found a good electrician on the first try in a new town, and I?ll definitely use Kemper Electric again.

Very friendly gentleman with excellent work ethics. Completed the job in one day. We are having him return to install new box and hardwiring a generator.

He really knows what he is doing, he has years of experience. He was courteous and friendly, did a wonderful job, and also explained my options in one or two instances when I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I thought he was a pleasure to work with. I would definitely call him again and feel confident recommending his services to others.

Don arrived on time. He was clear about how much the work would cost and got right to it. He seemed very knowledgeable. He was neat and did not leave a mess. We are very happy with his workmanship. I am happy that he's the owner and fully licensed. In my opinion you cannot go wrong with him. I would gladly call him again.

Mr. Kemper's assistant Louis came by on time. He replaced two older outlets as well as installed a new outlet in a plaster wall in the dining room. I was concerned that putting in an outlet in a plaster wall would be more trouble than its worth with the plaster wall possibly cracking. Louis used a technique of cutting into the plaster wall with a hand saw instead of a small circular saw. He said other electricians may use a circular saw, which would likely cause cracking to a plaster wall. Louis made a clean cut with the hand saw and proceeded to install the new outlet cleanly. Louis was careful to clean up and I am satisfied with the overall job for the price. I would certainly use Louis and Kemper again! Thank you Craigs List.

It was great. Don did some amazing wiring. I am a handy person and I did all of the repairs to the mudroom and my house by myself. But I couldn't possibly concieve how to do the electrical in that room and get the cabling to the basement. Well Don did it and he did it quick! Not only that but when he was done he SWEPT UP! He cleaned the entire mudroom making sure he didn't leave anything behind at all! The best part also is that while Don will offer his advice on something if you say "I'd still prefer to do it this way" he just says "Okay"! That's the number one thing I think everyone wants in any professional they bring into their home. Yes you always want input from whatever professional you are bringing into the house to make sure what you are doing makes sense. But ultimately you (the homeowner) want ot make the final decision! If you want a great electrician at a reasonable price Don is the way to go. He is our new Electrician for life!

Phone call was returned same day,Don said he would try to fit me in the next day,called at 900am next morning and asked if he could stop by to check out the problem.Arrived 20 minutes later started working right away.Problem was fixed with in the hr.Work was done neatly ,professionally and was a good value.I will use Don again for my next electrical needs without hesitation

He was wonderful. He did a great job. He was very professional and cleaned up after himself. He was very polite and trust worthy.

Don is a phenomenal electrician, a professional business man, and all-around good guy. When he came to give us our initial estimate on the house we just bought, he was quick to point out why we didn't need certain work that we were asking for and looked for ways to save us money, while also pointing out safety hazards that we hadn't noticed. Don and his assistant Louis worked over several days, arriving on-time, working neatly, and cleaning up after themselves. Don stayed in touch with us every day to let us know the status of our many projects, and coordinated with our other contractors. He and Louis rolled with the punches as we added more projects to the list, and the pricing was always fair and discussed in advance. Best of all was Don's diligence. He even came over on a Sunday to walk us through all of his work when he was finished. And at one point he called me to tell me that, while working on the second floor, he noticed that the roofing crew had missed a spot on the garage!

Don came on time, worked steadily, was very friendly and generous with information for potential work as what may save me money. He left my home clean and his work was neat. I will use him in the future and recommend him to anyone.

I needed 200 Amp Service installed after a previous contractor I had hired had botched the job by improperly installing the service cable, cutting corners and not filling out the proper permits. My previous contractor had stopped picking up his phone and was giving endless excuses about the permits. I contacted Kemper Electric to clean up the mess that my previous contractor had failed to complete. Kemper came in and did a great job, he filled out all the proper permits, did not cut any corners and was timely in getting the inspection passed.

Don responded quickly to our problem, as we called him on a Sunday and he got back to us quickly. He and his assistant worked very professionally. Being experienced and knowledgeable all went well from start to finish. Very thorough with even the smallest of details. Cleaned-up well. Very pleasant to do business with. I would recommend Kemper Electric and I would do business with them again.

Mr. Kemper is a professional and a man of his word. Went out of his way to locate an unusual part for us and was not satisfied until the job was done to his high standards. He took care of several problems for us with ease and efficiency. Would definitely recommend his business.

House Type: 1927 Colonial near Montclair, NJ Situation: Typically i am very handy and will opt to do much of the work in my house myself. I found myself quickly digging myself deeper and deeper into a complex issue. So after having the circuit off for 3 months i finally decided to get a quote from a professional. Estimate: Contacted Don Kemper. He responded the same day and was able to come the next day to look at it. The quote was reasonable. He was extremely courteous, honest and professional. Job: Don showed up on time and was thorough. He had to use every bit of his 60years of experience to get the 2 bedrooms wired correctly. He also had to change the existing fixture to accommodate a ceiling fan. Pros: Punctual, Reasonable Pricing, Quality work. Cons: There was some clean up needed in the various areas that he worked but it wasn't unmanageable.

Don responded to my call promptly. He was very knowledgeable, and gave a fair and honest price. Very happy with his work. Will definitely use him again, and I highly recommend him.

I was extremely impressed, my initial call was returned promptly. Don quoted us a price and a half hour later called to state the price was not as high as he thought. The following morning he was at our home. All the smoke detectors were replaced as well as our carbon monoxide detector. It was a very positive experience and we will use him again!

Don returned our call promptly, came when he said he would, did quality work and cleaned up. We would hire him again.

I contacted Don and arranged for him to come out and look at what I needed done. He came, gave me the quote and arranged to come two days later to do the job, which consisted of changing old outlets into grounded ones. Approximately an hour later, I receieved a call from Don stating that one of his clients had cancelled and that he would have time to do the job immediately. This suited me and the entire process from start to finish went smoothly. Although this was a relatively simple job, it was a good introduction to an electrician that I now will feel comfortable contacting for larger jobs as well. He is good at returning calls and has been doing this for a long time. I feel confident in his abilities.

Kemper Electric came to my parents house on a moment's notice because my ailing father needed oxygen in the bedroom and we had to run a separate line. We also needed another line to run an air conditioner on the second floor. They were prompt, respectful of our situation, neat and reasonably priced. I will always be grateful for their their willingness to do this job so quickly. They also respond immediately to all of their calls. (Why don't other contractors learn to do this?!)

We looked them up on Angie's List. My husband did most of the dealings with them, he said when he called them they called back quickly. He came the same day so his response time was excellent. We'll definitely use them again. I don't know the price, but I'm sure it was right in line with what electricians charge.
