There are three kinds of roofing contractors: those like us, who deliver high quality craftsmanship with major warranties at respectable costs, but we are rare. More common are the cheap guys whose prices look good until the roof falls apart. Finally there is the pricey guy who pressures you into a high quality job but jacks up the price to make a sizable profit. Visit our website to get a detailed comparison between us and the competition. Free estimates. 15 year labor and material warranty. Additional phone - (609) 393-2939, (609) 847-1917. Award winning.

We had had this problem for years. We had the whole roof replaced, but the problem returned, and the roofer we used could not get to the root of it. Whatever he did, or had people do (including some awful "flashing" around our chimney) didn't work. Other contractors did temporary fixes--I know think they just put some tar down. Robert seemed to understand the problem immediately. He also did a general walkover of the roof to see if it was okay (this was after Hurricane Sandy)--it was--and was able to let me know that shingles I found in my yard were not from my roof. He estimated the cost at around $2000, but noted that it could be more if they found more damage. The crew came on time and worked quickly. They did find more rotted wood than anticipated, radiating out from the point of the leak. Mr. Saenz came, showed me the area, and explained the problem. I okayed an increase in price, which was only about 10%.The work was done, everything was cleaned up. Now two-three years have passed (I put in an approximate date for when the work was done--I don't recall when it was exactly), and there have been no further leaks, which is the first time we haven't had SOME problem in 20 years. One of my brothers, who lives nearby, had a similar problem with a leak in his garage roof that no one could fix adequately. He used Saenz as well, and as far as I know, has also not had any leaks in roughly two years since. I found Robert helpful, the workers and Mr. Saenz polite, and everything was satisfactory. I have only given a B for responsiveness because it took a few calls to get Robert here, but it seems they were extremely busy. Also, I asked him about some gutterage fixes I want. He advised me on them, but even though Saenz advertises that kind of work, made it clear they didn't want to do the work. I had a gutter-cleaning company do it. I gave them a B for price because that indicates "good" and it was good: not cheap, but fair and reasonable, including the extra percentage they asked for. I saw, understood, and agreed with the reason for that. The B for price does not indicate any dissatisfaction. I would not only use this company again, I would not use anyone else.
Description of Work: The estimator, Robert, diagnosed a persistent leakage problem we had, leaking from a joint where two levels of roof come together and right down a wall into the kitchen. The workers pulled off part of the roof and the siding, replaced rotted wood, put sheeting and other protective material down to prevent future leakage, put the siding back and reshingled the part of the roof that they had to replace.

I called two roofing companies before calling Saenz but they were too busy to give an estimate. Saenz was the third company I called. Luigi came to give me an estimate on Thursday, November 6. I signed a contract with them and they did not ask me to leave a deposit. Since I don't plan on staying in my house for more than a few years, Luigi recommended a less expensive option than he would have if I were staying long term. Luigi said the work would be scheduled for Saturday, November 22 which was fine with me. I appreciated the Saturday appointment so I wouldn't have to take a day off from work. On Friday, November 7, Luigi called me at work and said they had a cancelation for Saturday, November 8 and asked if I wanted my roof to be done on Saturday. I said, "Yes." The workers (5) arrived at 7:30 a.m. and immediately started removing my old roof. I had coffee for them but had to ask them several times to come in to get it. They were all gentlemen. They covered my property with tarp and when the job was completed at 5:30, they left my property in excellent condition. The price on the contract was the price I paid. No surprises. The roof looks great. There's only one glitch in this experience: they applied for the township permit on Friday but did not have it in hand when they started the job. They said they will absorb any extra expense, if any, as a result of this.

The estimator from Saenz, Luilli, was the most thorough salesman/representative out of the 4 companies that were competing for my business. Although he was initially 4 hours late, he spent well over 2 hours with me walking me through the entire process and materials from start to finish. He was also the only estimator who carried all of the materials with him (including shingles from GAF, OC, and Certainteed) in order to show me what I would be getting and how the different materials compare. The job started out poorly when, within the first hour, Saenz dropped debris and tools on my awning and ripped it. I was planning on taking the awning down before the job began, but there was an opening to get the roof replaced sooner and I was assured that they would take every precaution in preventing damage. The job foreman did specifically tell the workers to ensure they take care in the back of the house where the awning was, but one moment of sloppiness led to a ruined investment of $4000. So, why did I give Saenz an "A" and why would I recommend them? First and foremost; honesty. The rips were small and I might not have noticed them until it was too late. Saenz immediately alerted me to the issue. The job foreman had the owner, Douglas, come down to the site immediately. Both the foreman and the owner took one look and said "I'm so sorry that this happened. We informed the workers multiple times to be careful. We will take care of the awning replacement, 100%". And they did. The rest of the job went extremely well. All of the materials that I paid for were used. There were no corners cut. The owner took the time to walk over all of the materials with me and how and where they would be used. Any minor issues I had were addressed immediately and to my satisfaction. The crew even took the time to put my Halloween decorations back as they were cleaning up. The job site was thoroughly cleaned. I do think that the workers could have taken better care to cover my landscaping with the tarps, if only to make their lives easier in the end. There was a lot of debris that didn't end up on the tarps. An extra 5 minutes and an extra few tarps would have made their jobs easier. By the 3rd day, the dumpster was removed from my property and it looked like Saenz had never been here (except for the new roof). During dumpster removal, several nails were dropped, so I needed to clean those up. I would think that a slightly better process might help the company be more efficient and reduce the possibilities for errors like nails re-introduced into the work site after cleanup was performed. All in all, I would recommend this company. They competed well for my business and delivered on what was promised. I'm sure you can read dozens of stories about roofers who damage stuff and then disappear or say, "Pay us in full and we'll reimburse you for the damage when you get it replaced". With Saenz, they were honest and true to their word.
Description of Work: In preparation for solar panels to be installed, I had my 14-year-old original roof replaced. Saenz removed the existing shingles and felt paper, repaired damaged plywood and installed new underlayment and shingles. Additionally, they installed a ridge vent system and replaced pipe collars.

My contact with this company was AWFUL. First, they called me late on Monday evening (around 8pm) to set up a time for an estimate. The man who called me was very rude, claiming that he was "very busy" and could only meet me around noon on Thursday. I said that was fine, as my week was wide open and I could meet with them any time. Robert Frank, the estimator, showed up over 20 minutes late on Thursday. I was about to call his company to see if he was coming when I noticed him through the window, strolling up my front walk. Robert is a very unnerving individual; not someone I would send out as a first-time representer of my company, if I were the owner. He never made eye contact with me, choosing instead to look over my head at the wall or ceiling, the entire time he spoke to me. This was awkward and bordered on rude, however, I chose to excuse it, as I suspect he has Aspergers Syndrome (also exemplified by the fact that he nattered on incessantly about unimportant details, most of which seemed important only to him, because he clearly loves his job). I won't go into more details except to say that Robert tried, unsuccessfully, to make several jokes about "When do we start?", while sticking his hand out into my face, and muttering how I'm "clearly not in a good mood" when I did not laugh or find his invasion of personal space amusing. Most importantly, however, I did not like the following things: 1) Robert spent a good deal of time during the Estimate criticizing internet search companies, as well as nameless, faceless competitors, telling me how they would do a terrible-bordering-on-illegal job of lying to me and doing the work with subpar materials. 2) Robert talked non-stop about Owens Corning, which is the manufacturer Saenz uses; this would be fine, except it made it seem as if he was only there to sell me a product, not the SERVICE Saenz would provide me. I don't care how good a roof shingle is, if your roofers don't install it properly and make a mess of my house/yard in the process, who cares? I want to know what YOUR COMPANY is going to do well so that I choose you. 3) After showing me the estimate, which he said was for my ENTIRE ROOF, he then went on to tell me that the roof over my sunroom was "worse than the rest of the house" and needed to be completely replaced (this was helpful, as he gave me great information--like I said, he clearly loves his job). However, I asked if the estimate he'd handed me included the square footage of the sunroom, he said that it did not, and proceeded to take the paper back and add on another $500--while rudely stating, "Well, now you're acting like the Roofing Police!" That comment right there was the nail in the coffin. I don't mind an awkward person, there's lots of them around. But don't come into my house and be rude to me, lie to me about your pricing, and then insult me. There's too many other roofing companies out there with better customer service that I'll be happy to use. UPDATE: Someone from this company proceeded to call my house after reading this review. He left a message for me to call him back to discuss my review. I chose not to. He then proceeded to call again, at 7 am the next day? I'm an early riser, but 7 am?!?! You don't call someone's house at 7 am if they don't invite you to! Especially when they've clearly chosen NOT to do business with your company! Discussing this review with ME was entirely inappropriate, and the reason I chose not to call him back the first time. He should have been discussing this review with HIS EMPLOYEE, and working on managing that person's interpersonal skills. Trying to win my business by waking up my children during Summer vacation at 7 am certainly did not endear him to me any more than his Estimator did, and I told him so!
Description of Work: I contacted them for an estimate on roof repair or replacement, depending on their advice as to what needs to be done.

I contacted Saenz due to a leak in my roof, scheduled the appointment via Angie's list. and was contacted the next day to scheduled an appointment for the estimate. Robert arrived at the appointed time and and made a complete inspection of my roof, the leak was caused by the flashing around a vent pipe, he pointed out an area on the roof where the shingles had lifted, Robert walked the entire roof and found several areas where the plywood had warped he then proceeded to the attic to do a more complete evaluation. Robert explained that improper venting during construction caused humidity in the attic to warp the plywood. Robert then went through the entire process, explaining every step so I could have a full understanding and I decided to go forward with the job. I was told they could start the job the following week. One week later I was contacted by Douglas, the project manager, who told me that they could start the job in one or two days and that he would call me back to confirm. I got a call the next day advising me that they would be on site between 7 to 7:30 am the next day. The crew arrived at 7:10 am and began the job. When I arrived home from work at 6 pm they were still at it and completed the job a short while latter. The clean-up they did was amazing , you could not tell that they were ever there. It should be noted that I contracted for them to replace all of the plywood, but they found that the plywood over the garage was in perfect condition so they left it alone and took the appropriate amount off of the bill. They could have not told me and I would have never known the difference, very honest guys!!! Based on my experience with Saenz I would highly recommend them.

During the heavy rains a couple weeks back a severe leak developed in our living room. I called Saenz Contractors because of their good reviews on Angie's list. Doug Saenz came and inspected the roof and identified the problem, namely that on one section of the roof measuring 16' x 23', the wrong type of tile had been used. I told him the roof had been installed 10 years ago by a Home Depot subcontractor, and showed him the paperwork. He read through all 20 pages of it and said something like "You really are in luck -- it looks like this problem is covered by the Home Depot warranty, both to fix the roof and to repair any damage to the inside of the house. Call them as soon as possible, explain what I said, and request them to put an emergency tarpaulin in place immediately." I told Doug I wanted to pay him for the time spent in arriving at the diagnosis, since he had just now done 30 minutes work onsite plus time spent travelling here. He absolutely refused, and said the best payment I could give is to recommend him to people I know. Which I most certainly will do....
Description of Work: The providers, Saenz Contractors, spent about 30 minutes diagnosing a leak in my living room, first by taking measurements inside the house to determine the exact spot where the leak was happening, and looking for clues in our attic, then secondly getting out a ladder and going on the roof. After doing this inspection Doug Saenz told me the reason for the leak and said the cost of repairing the leak would be fully covered under warranty and that I should contact the contractor, Home Depot. He refused to accept payment.

Unfortunately, a tree hit my house and caused extensive damage. Luckily, this is the first time anything like this has happened to my home. Per Angie's List, I called Saenz Contractors. I was unprepared for the treatment recieved. Being a successful sales professional, I was very polite when my call was answered. Immediately, I was rudely notified that Saenz, "Just doesn't come down and give estimates unless they are going to get the job!" I was then lectured on the difficulties involved in preparing an estimate. Little did the rude person know that I've been preparing estimates for over 30 years! Not only that, my estimates take days to prepare! And, unfortunately, because of capitalism (of which I'm a big fan of) I don't always get the sale...but am always appreciative of the opportunity to earn people's valuable business. Thankfully, others were much more professional and were also appreciative of the opportunity to earn my business. If a company is difficult in the easy stuff like answering a phone in a professional manner, I can only imagine the nightmare of dealing with them on hard stuff. Hey Saenz....wake up!! No one owes you a job just because you picked up a phone!!

Response from Saenz Contractors Inc
This is an unfortunate byproduct of allowing people to rate and review companies online. This gentleman is not sharing everything that took place on the phone and only seems willing to tell the parts that paint a picture which he hopes to share. Its very upsetting as a business owner to have someone like this try to hurt our business because he didn't like what we told him. In the roofing industry all roofers give free estimates and this is because at some point in time enough of roofers were willing to offer them and so the rest had to follow or become extinct. There was once a time when all roofers charged for estimates and so we are not obligated to provide a free estimate and shouldn't be judged based on our unwillingness to do so. This particular customer has a unique situation where he had damage to his home and would now need to negotiate with his insurance company for the replacement of his roof. We told him that we wouldn't be able to provide a free estimate because there is a lot more involved in providing an estimate to an insurance company. Insurance companies use a special program to generate their estimates and so when a roofer gets involved in such a situation he is at an advantage when he has this program that the insurance company uses. Not all roofers own the program because of the large investment and so are at a disadvantage. The draw back to using this program is that it takes much more time and creating an estimate using this program is nothing like when creating an estimate for a roof being purchased in a retail market. When I informed him we would not provide a free estimate he didn't like it but would not allow me an opportunity to explain the difference between a retail purchase(which is when we do provide a free estimate) and an insurance estimate(which we are forced to charge for because of the great investment of our time and often multiple visits to the homeowners house to meet with adjusters during the process of negotiating with the insurance company on our part). Had he given me the opportunity to explain myself then we probably wouldn't be here on Angie's list working this out in this medium and in this fashion. The disconcerting part is the irresponsibility on his part to choose to blast us on Angie's list rather than gather all of the information and leave an informed opinion for others to use when considering to contact us. So now instead he will be punishing us when there was no crime commited and that is very unfortunate. The punishment comes when a customer takes his rating and review and bases their decision on whether or not to contact us considering what he has said, it can mislead people as to what kind of company we really are.

After receiving many estimates and choosing Saenz to install a new roofing system, I am happy to say that they did an exceptional job. From the estimate appointment till the completion of the project, they showed up on time and as scheduled. I always got a quick response to any questions I had about the roofing job from Robert. They put tarps around the house to collect any debris that came off the roof and they cleaned up the whole yard after they were finished. Saenz used all high-quality roofing products. They have steady crews of workers specialized in installing roofs, new gutters/guards and the trim work. All of the crews were hard-working and very professional, and the owner was there to oversee the project. The gutters and guards work perfectly. I didn't just get a new roof, I got a whole new roofing system. I would highly recommend them to my family & friends.

The results were excellent! The 5 man team worked efficiently and professionally. There were no surprises and everything was completed in a bit more than one day. I was particularly impressed by how well the crew cleaned up between the two days as well as at the completion of the project. Every member of the team knew exactly what to do - the coordination was very impressive. I cannot recommend this company more highly! In addition, they installed a missing piece from my chimney without any additional cost except the cost of the part!

It was a great pleasure to work with Douglas and his crew, professional and the job well done. The original appointment was on Saturday but they couldn't keep it so they came on Sunday and did the job. Douglas was very accommodating and to finish all work on the same day, he made 60 miles trip to get the material since local stores were out of stock. Now that's exceeding expectations! Hope the repairs last long, but I strongly recommend them and would use them in future.

Great. I originally set up an appointment. for Wed, July 2nd between 4:30 - 5:30 PM and Robert showed around 4:40 and checked out my roof. To my chagrin he found a hole where the shingles were sticking up. He thought it may have been a critter that chewed the wood and pushed the shingles up trying to get out. I told him I never heard any sounds in the attic but can he get someone out that night to fix or tarp the area as I was in a panic with heavy thunderstorms predicted for later that evening. He apprised me that he would try but that I also go back inside and see if I could contact other companies that have emergency service. While I was doing this, he remained outside in his truck trying to contact one of his men and fortunately, he came back in about 15 minutes later, asked me how my attempts were going ( I said not to good) and he said his man would be there in about 45 minutes. True enough, about 50 minutes later, Douglas arrived, went up on the roof, took pictures and came down and showed me the hole that was in the roof. He than got his material, went back to the roo and performed the repairs. The severe weather arrived about two hours later and thanks to Robert and Douglas, my home sustained no further damage I cannot say enough good things about these gentlemen and their company. When I need another roof, or roof repair, this will be the only company I call. As for the other companies I called, here is short summary Migliaro; left message on Sunday June 29th, never got back to me Biondo: left message Sunday June 29th, came by house and left me a booklet with sample shingles, no estimate or if they went on the roof. I called again on July 1st (evening) and left message to call me back to discuss situation and they never called back Asch: left same message on Sunday and they contacted me back and made for appointment. for Wednesday, July 2nd between 3:30 - 4:30.. They never showed.

I am not sure if I would recommend them. There was some additional service that needed to be done and they said they would come back, and they didn't. They redid the roof, and after that, I had squirrels in my attic, and I never had an issue before. There was a gap between the roof, and the siding where the squirrels were coming in from. I wouldn't use them in the future.
Description of Work: We used Saenz Contractors Inc. They redid my roof.

Perfect! Salesman Robert was knowledgeable in every aspect of roofing and importance of ventilation. Their "A" team did the work to 100% satisfaction. I have recommended Saenz to four friends who also were completely satisfied.
Description of Work: Removed existing shingles, removed fan, shingled roof and replaced any plywood that needed to be. Installed a complete roofing system and door and vents instead of fans, as new vent pipe boots.
