 + 0 moreAfter reading roofing reviews on Angie's List, I had 4 roofing companies come to give me an estimate. Robert was the representative from Saenz. He examined the existing roof and went into the attic to further inspect. Robert fully explained the steps involved in replacing the roof, including how a new venting system would work. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and experienced. Also, Robert gave me the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of references in my area, without my even requesting them. Saenz not only offered the best estimate, but included extras that the other 3 companies did not offer in their prices. Also, they offered a 15 year labor guarantee besides the Owens Corning manufacturers guarantee. When I decided to hire Saenz to do the job, I was informed that I did not need to give a deposit before the work began. Luigi, the person in charge, first arrived on the job, introduced himself, and was there to oversee the crew when they arrived. Since he was not going to be on the job the entire time, he left me his telephone number in case I had any concerns while he was gone. Luigi proved to be helpful and courteous. In all, it took about 5 days to complete the job. The men were prompt, courteous, and diligent in their work. Upon completion they cleaned up so well that it wasn't possible to guess that any work had taken place. In conclusion, I was very happy and pleased with the finished product and satisfied that I had chosen such a reputable company. The work ethic, honesty, and integrity of everyone involved with Saenz Construction was impressive. I would definitely hire them again and recommend them highly.
Description of Work: My original 25-year-old roof needed to be replaced. Since it was a dimensional roof, not a flat one, it was recommended that it be removed instead of just having the new roof put on top of it. Soffits and gutters were also replaced.

They were on time and asked for no money up front. We just went through a hurricane and the roof is still on, so that say's a lot. There was a minor adjustment that they had to come back and repair and they did that the next day with no problem at all.

 + 0 moreI moved into this house last December and though my roof was in better shape than it was. I contacted three companies to give me estimatests for both roof and siding. Saenz was the only company that educated me on why my roof was failing and my siding falling off the house. So for that reason I contracted them to do both jobs and they started the permit process. Mean while it rained and water came into one of my bedrooms; I called for help and Saenz called the town to get emeragency processing of the permit and tarped my roof so the pending rain that was coming would stay outside. The next day the roffing crew came tore off my old roof, replaced plywood, put ice and water sheld where need and did a new roof. At that time I was told the siding crew would come the next week to do the soffit and siding job I contracted for. Right on time as promesed the sinding crew came; today Saturday 10/27/12 to do the job. I did not have to call or chase them to do the job like I have todo to other companies behore. This is the most peofessional company I have dealt with in some time. I think they are the greatest.
Description of Work: Saenz Contractors Inc. replaced my roof by a complete tear off, replace plywood as needed, instaled ice and water barrier, instaled exhaust vents for bathroom fans, and installed a roof exhuse fan. they corred the rof venlation problem I had by removing my old soffit, cuting venlation holes, and instaling new soffit. I had the front siding replaced that was falling off my house. both crews roof and siding were very professional, clean, and came on time. I would reconmend this company to any body they are the greatest.

 + 0 moreWe did have some concerns over the gutter installation, work performed by a sub-contractor of Saenz's. There were rough edges exposed in a few places, and 3 corners were not level with the rest of the gutter. The pitch of the gutters didn't drain as we had wanted. Downspouts were not all located where we'd asked for them to be installed. Certainly, most customers might not have objections to the problems we encountered. We are admittedly tough to deal with. But we wanted our house to be done right. This was the last time we expect to be doing this kind of work in our lifetime. We did not want to 'settle' for half-a** detail work. Doug always knew how to handle each challenge as it came along. Thankfully, this was how he approached it: Every challenge was a learning experience for him and his workers. Instead of getting defensive, he would calmly listen to the complaint and try to come up with a solution. I can honestly say that the finished gutter is superb and meets our expectations.
Description of Work: Saenz Contractors installed a new roof on our house. Because of the size of the job, tearoff of the old roof and installation of the new one was done in sections. This was expected to be a 3-day job, but ended up taking 4 days. The job was complicated by the installation of 5 new skylights, new chimney flashing, new ridge vents, and new gutters & downspouts. The installation was of the highest quality with attention to proper venting through baffles Saenz installed under the plywood. Saenz replaced all of the decking that needed replacing. Since much of our house has cathedral ceilings, and there was quite a bit of rotted decking, about two thirds of the plywood had to be replaced. There was no additional charge for the more than 40 sheets of plywood used. Vent baffles under the cathedral parts of the house were installed from the soffits all the way to the new ridge vent at the top, providing thorough proper venting of the new roof. In the regular attic part of the house, venting baffles were installed to open the soffits into the attic, allowing air to flow through to the ridge vent."Ice & Water Shield" was installed 54 inches up from the roof edge to prevent ice damming. Also, all valleys, framing around skylights and chimney flashing had additional Ice & Water Shield installed. This roof is NOT going to leak!Doug Saenz was exceptional in managing the work. We happen to admittedly be pretty critical homeowners, concerned about how the details of the work is done. Any concerns we had were always handled professionally and with courtesy. Most of the time, our requests were fulfilled as we went along. There were a few details that were not satisfactory, but no matter what, Doug made sure we were finally satisfied, even if the work had to be done repeatedly. For example, we had noticed that the installation of new gable end trim was not symetrical; one side didn't match the other. Doug had the trim removed and replaced with new trim, done to our satisfaction. Doug even voluntarily did a few small details without additional charge that weren't even roof related. We have a pair of entry lanterns flanking our front door. One of the lights was not mounted properly, appearing to pull away from the house at an angle. Doug's workers figured out how to attach the lamp mounting more securely. Now, the front looks attractive and inviting.We have no reservations in highly recommending Saenz Contractors for roofing work. In addition to the quality and attention we were given, the price was also comparable to other contractors we considered.

 + 0 moreEverything was great and went exactly as we agreed in the contract. The team that did the job, headed by Luigi, was hard working and very professional. They arrived each morning at 7Am and worked until either 5PM or 6PM until the job was done. Originally hey were hoping to be done early on day 3, but it ended up taking well until the 4th day. Our house is very non-conventional which is why it took longer. Once it rains I'll be able to say for sure how it went, but I'm thoroughly satisfied with my decision to go with Saenz Contractors.
Description of Work: Both layers of roof were ripped off of the house and detached garage. Almost all of the plywood had to be replaced, which added a good deal of cost - but no fault of the guys doing the job, they brought me to look and I agreed to changing it. Everything was covered in water and ice shield, half inch insulation, rubber roof on the flat parts, there were two shingled areas that had to get redone, 2/3rds of the house roof is flat and the garage roof is also flat. New gutters installed, new flashing with drip edge. Also, the siding of the house is pine, so in the areas that the siding had to be removed, the crew was nice enough to use all new wood (that I provided). Still, they had to cut it and install it, and they did a great job.

When he looked over the area and made recommendations about the type of material to be used, and explained what the completed project would entail I was sure this was the company to do the job. We had a one day delay on the actual roof work, but the supplies were delivered, placed where I requested not to block access, etc. Work was begun first thing in the morning once the team lead presented me with the permit and information. We checked the product to make sure it was correct and the two crews began working. They tarped the whole house and grounds after removing anything that might be damaged, such as landscaping lighting. Then the work began and I was amazed at how quickly they removed the old roof and started applying the new. They showed me the wood they needed to replace due to water damage as they said they would. The job was completed in one day, even though they needed additional material to finish some trim areas - these were brought and the job was complete. The cleanup was great at the end of the day, removing all nails and garbage. Like they had never been here, except for a wonderful new roof. I would recommend them to anyone.

 + -1 moreGood Luck with this guy, this morning we called because it was raining so we thought he was not going to come and he got nasty. We had to cancel an appointment last week as something unexpected came up. Today, he said that he could do his inspection from in the attic. We were not expecting this and could not acomodate him today. When we told him this, he got upset at which point we decided he was not the right contractor for us and told him at which point he got nasty and started yelling. Unanticipated circumstances do occur. As a contractor, he should be more understanding. A short temper does not impress perspective customers.

 + -1 moreFrom the beginning, everything was done professionally. They promptly came out to give us an estimate. When we decided to use them, we finalized the details and they gave us the approximate timing. They stuck within the timing and called us a few days before to let us know when they would start. It was a huge job because they removed the previous roof (roofs in some cases), replaced plywood where necessary and then put on the new roof. They came at around 7:30 in the morning and left at 7:30 at night for two days and finished, even when it rained part of the time. They left our house cleaner than when they arrived, making sure all debris was removed. The third day a gutter subcontractor came and installed new gutters. Then they came out to review the job and make sure we were satisfied. It was a great experienc.
Description of Work: We had to have our roof removed down to the plywood, replace plywood where necessary, and then put on a new roof on our main house, over the garage, our family room, and a screened in porch. We also had our gutters fully removed and replaced.

He checked the leaks indoors and then inspected the dormers, where the leak seems to be coming from. He clearly explained the problem and the options we had. I learned a lot that I wished I had known before about flashing and how to tell a quality installation. For any other roofing problems I intend to call Robert, and I will be passing his name around to my friends.

The roofing crew had an obviously strong work ethic and worked quite efficiently as a team. All Saenz associates were courteous and professional. The job was completed on schedule and it was good qua[ity. The price estimate was accurate and the job site was left clean of all debris. Robert followed up after the job was completed to address any questions or concerns I may have had. He is the type of individual I would attempt to recruit and hire if I were in the Roofing Business. As it concerns my rating of "c" for responsiveness, that resulted from Douglass Saenz missing an appointment with me. I'm sure it was an honest oversight due to his workload, but it didn't sit well with me.
Description of Work: The contractor removed the existing shingles and removed/replace all damaged sheeting (plywood), repaired/installed soffit vents then installed new roofing system.

 + -1 moreSaenz was AMAZING! Our sales guy Robert was always reachable & responded quickly whenever I called. We called just before hurricane Irene came through & they were still able to get us in with all the other work they had. We ended up needing to have a flat section of the roof replaced, as the previous contractor didn't install waterproofing. Just the black felt/paper that goes under standard shingles. Hence why we kept getting water in the house! Saenz had 2 crews come out on Labor Day Monday to do the job & threw a bunch of guys on it so we wouldn't fall victim to more water damage with the coming rain, predicted for that afternoon. I would recommend them in a heartbeat! They were total professionals!
Description of Work: Mine is a cautionary tale, always go with a qualified contractor! Last year my husband & I had our roof replaced. We were in a rush as our insurance company said they would drop us if we didn't address it within 30 days and we had a planned 10 day non-refundable vacation. We made several calls & got quotes, but mainly used those people you find in the Valpak & in the phone book. We picked a guy who was middle of the road, not the most expensive, not the cheapest & he was local. He told us being only a few towns away he knew the area & would be able to do a good job. He took about 1 week and was able to get it installed within the time frame we needed. This spring we started noticing leaks in our bathroom. We called this contractor out on four separate occasions to have him fix the leak. Needless to say every time it rained we'd cringe & wonder if we'd have more water coming through. Also at this time I was pregnant with our first child & not looking forward to bathing a newborn with dirty rain water dripping on him from the ceiling. We decided that we'd had enough of the back & forth & not actually being fixed by our previous contractor. So I signed up for Angie's list & called around for a new perspective on what was going on up on the roof.

 + -1 moreI tslked with 6 other roofers and they all offered similar specs. I never had bought a roof and didn't think beyond replacing what I had with exactly the same thing.. These reps didn't go beyond that. Robert Frank was the only rep that asked me: "If you were buying a new car, would you buy one exactly like your old one?" He pointed out the advances made in roofing and had a wealth of information. He spent a lot of time with me discussing the available options . I told him I'd like to lower my air conditioning costs and he recommended a new sun-reflective roof as well as adding a roof fan and venting system. He had answers to every question I asked (and I asked plenty). The man knows everything about roofs. Although the cost was higher than the other bids, I qualified for a $1500 energy tax credit, which brought the cost to $300 above the lowest bid I was given and I had also added a fan and intake system. I had the roof inspected and the inspector had glowing reports about the material and the installation. In fact, he's recommending this roof to a friend that is building a new home. .
