Description of Work: George and his crew did a fantastic job on our paver driveway, sidewalk and porch! He is very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. He gave us an idea of what they were doing and how much longer it would take especially since it was VERY HOT outside. His prices are reasonable and his craftsmanship is remarkable. I highly recommend him!

George, the owner completed work in front of my garage, he replaced concrete that had eroded away when we moved into our home. He also, replaced 1 sidewalk broken concrete. The work was completed almost 2 years ago. He told me the concrete was solid and would last as long as the township sidewalk. He never mentioned or educated me on the effect of salt on the concrete he installed during the winter season. Well, in less than 2 years after paying $1600 for the job, everything has fallen apart to my surprise. The township concrete sidewalks despite multiple salt applications are intact. The one George replaced has become like sand. I called George in the Spring of 2014 and he told me to contact him in the summer. I called him this summer and he is telling me to call him in the Fall because he is busy. George's explanation was that I should not have used salt during the winter. I countered his point by saying that we live in NJ/north east, how can we avoid salt in the winter. I questioned George to tell me why the township sidewalks and concrete have been there for many years and despite multiple salt applications they still look new and solid. The township concretes are much older than those he installed 2 years ago. He just told me for the first time, the concrete he used was of low quality and salt cannot touch them when it snows. Low quality? That is a shock to me. I didn't ask for low quality to pay $1600 for nothing? He said what he installed was just regular concrete not the real one? Meanwhile, he never told me he was going to install inferior concrete. If he had informed me at the time I gave him the contract , I would have gone to home depot and buy myself regular concrete and pay myself the $1600 and do my own job. I was shocked to hear from George that when he comes to repair/replace the damaged concrete he installed, I would be responsible for the cost of the mess he made. Is this how to treat customers fairly? I was hoping to hear that he would be stopping by sooner than the Fall/winter 2014, to at least take a look at it and replace the concrete/sidewalk to meet standard, at no extra cost to me. Right now, it is unsafe for pedestrians to walk and if someone falls and hurt themselves who is responsible? George and GS best, LLC responsible or myself. I do not see the and quot;BESTand quot; in GS BEST, LLC. I want to ask George, why do you operate your business under false pretense and in a deceitful manner? Why didn't you tell me there were different types of concrete, some that can withstand all weather conditions including salt and some that can be blown away by drizzle or common showers like the one he did? I don't deserve apprentice work; I deserve professional work and you should be straight forward with your customers. I am totally disappointed with your excuses, explanations and I feel like you stole the $1600 from me since I need to replace the entire work you did again. Please in the future treat your customers with respect, dignity and with the truth. Tell your customers the type of concrete you use cannot last 1-2 winters and the concrete you use is weak. This way each customer can decide which direction to take. Failure to disclose all that information to your customers is just unfair and taking people’s money for poor service.

The driveway was a two-week job. The men were on the job site by about 8:30 every morning and put in a full day's work--as allowed by the elements (rain, excessive heat and humidity, etc). The job site was left clean every day. George was a good communicator, and raised areas of concern before they became an issue. It was a largely collaborative process. When I had an adjustment to ongoing work, it was handled expeditiously. Otherwise, we stayed out of his way and he and his guys moved forward in a workmanlike fashion. The work was completed to spec. George made sure that all of the landscaping was returned to the condition it was in before the job began, and repaired damaged areas of the lawn with topsoil and grass seed. Overall, we found GS Best to be an excellent, reliable contractor. He went above and beyond what was necessary to complete the job satisfactorily. I would use him again in a heartbeat. I'll report back in a year and let you know how the job held up.

Description of Work: They put in pavers but their design style was limited, the cleanup was improper, leaving behind large chunks of metal, plastic and stone from a structure they removed. This month, one year from the install, we discovered a damaged pipe under the pavers from what appears to be a shovel or pick. When we contacted company owner who told us he is out of business and there is nothing he could do to help.

We had discussion about a few items that I thought may be issues. One particularly, the drain from the HVA which was run out under the patio was not a good idea because it caused a significant amount of puddling. I re-routed it on my own, but the contractor insisted that the way he did this would be fine.

George and his crew came on the day and time they promised and completed the work at the time they said they would. This is my second contract with George and he did a marvelous job. Every detail is taken into account - leveling, height - he uses common sense to make adjustment to the work he is doing and always considers to do "what makes sense." Even the AC contractor who came out to reconnect my compressors after George was gone praised for the excellent job George did. If I plan to have future job(s) which require a mason, I will use George because I trust him and his quality work.
Description of Work: Installed a big concrete pad for two AC compressor units along with a small concrete walkway against the foundation of the house.

My old stairs were crumbling and needed to be replaced due to moisture infiltration, George removed stairs and concrete base , replaced with brick and limestone . He flashed the area by the front door so that we will never have an issue with water infiltration again.
Description of Work: George showed up on time for estimate and had some great suggestions and a very fair price. Work was completed on time and looks fantastic. We had our front stairs replaced as well as concrete walkway. George also put pavers in back of our townhome to make a very nice patio. my neighbors joke that our new stairs our will still be standing long after our homes are gone. Recommended this company highly

They quoted me around $2500 for the job. The gentleman that came out was very upfront and honest; he did not try to sugarcoat anything. He gave me multiple options from cheap to expensive. The one that I decided to ask him the actual number for was the one that he gave me; so everything was good.

My experience was George was one of the best. He was very professional, very responsive and did a very good job. I would contact him every evening after I got back from work and he would always answer my phone and provide answers to all of my questions. Any suggestions or requests I had also were honored and completed. I am very satisfied with the job that was completed.

Within a week of meeting George, he and his workers had come out to our condo with all their materials, had sanded down our patio, and cut and installed all the paving stones and put sand in all areas. He was very efficient and with his help we were able to pick out beautiful material which was both cost-efficient and pleasing to the eye. We recommend him highly.
Description of Work: For quite some time (not knowing who to call, the price, what type of work would be done), we lived with a horizontal crack on our patio. After we joined ANGIE'S LIST, we contacted George (GS BEST, LLC) who came out the next day, took measurements of our patio, discussed the price, options, and showed us samples and colors of paving stones.

Our front steps were crumbling and our sidewalk had settled and had large cracks in it. We also wanted to replace our concrete slab in the back of the house with paving stones enlarging the area. George called to set up free estimate and spent a lot of time with us answering questions, and making suggestions to ensure the finished product would be not only beautiful , but would be structurally sound. HIs price was fair, but we hired George because as owner of his company he is on site doing the work along with his employees and stands by his work. I got to pick the paving stones and the design from a catalog(came out beautifully) George said that he could start in a couple of weeks and was able to give us a date with in that time frame. One of his jobs was running overtime and he called right away to let us know. The new date was just a couple of days difference. Our old sidewalk leading to the front steps had settled causing an 18in drop between step and sidewalk. My husband did not want to put another step into the sidewalk. George came up with a solution. He gradually graded the sidewalk so it gently sloped up to the first step. George also came up an idea to curve the sidewalk for more architectural interest. He had us look at the design first before he poured. (looks beautiful). He flashed by the front door before pouring concrete to ensure no more water infilteration. The finished product is beautiful and our neighbors joke that it is like a roman ruin. Long after our houses are gone. Those new stairs will still be standing. I have recomended GS BEST LLC to my friends and neighbors and will hire him again if I need any mason work done.
