Work DID NOT GO WELL. The door and tiles in lower part of Shower stall were initially removed so they can put a vent pipe, but eventually removed because "it's not really needed." I agreed I was paying for the repair of the shower tiles and door with the understanding it would fix the problem but it did not. Now I'm left with repair fees. I paid Gold Medal extra to be a member but that does not matter because they will still overprice you when given the chance then give "15% discount". Several plumbers came and went, put and removed vent pipes, removed toilet and put back, pipe smoked. Each plumber had their own spin of the problem and solution. I already requested for a "specialist" for the sewer problem from the very beginning but they insisted on having a "remodeling specialist" take charge. Thus the numerous trial and error made on the bathroom. At the end they tried to charge me $500 for something that was done before for $99. I ended up calling the township and they helped a lot. I am fed up dealing with Gold Medal and it doesn't matter if I paid for membership. I will NEVER CALL them again nor use them for any other reason. I would rather pay somebody else than do business with this company. I don't mind paying but it is really disappointing and frustrating when companies like this take advantage of people.

Unqualified technicians, called back 4 times had to hire a real electrician, gold medal tech's big mistake, which could have burned down my house do not use this company. had two technician's Jim and Juan. Jim not only cut up my wall but patched it up with duct tape, cut my sprinkler zone cable and then also mis-wired my well pump he put a 220 volt lead into the 110 neutral block causing a dead short, original tech Jim was dispatched twice because of the sprinklers and Juan once, Juan wanted to replace the entire sprinkler 220 line for 1284 dollars in addition saying it wasn't their fault, when it was very much their fault, original job was 3102 dollars and it didn't even properly fix the original issue of our electric base board heaters working properly, one of the heaters still doesn't work and an estimate was given to us of 850 dollars for one heater. We hired gold medal because of their availability, they screwed up the permitting process as well they did not file the permits properly or even paid for in in a timely manor, had to have their permit manager escorted by the local PD just to file the permits and then again to pay for it, Very bad Job. Will not recommend the job, nor will we use them again. myself and my tenant living in the home advised my mother no shop around because that was a lot, my mom bought Jim's sales pitch and I'm very upset with her on that. My mother has been known to take other peoples bad advice when good advice has been given to her, I have been a victim of that myself. if you want to see the video, I'm going to upload it somewhere where I have enough space probably google drive. Jim was dispatched for the original call on Nov 19, 2016 and then to do the job on Nov 22, 2016, permits needed to be filed by December 7th 2016, permits finally filed on December 16, approved on December 19th, paid for on Jan 9, inspected on Feb 8, first call back was on Jan 5 because of the heaters second call back was on April 8 for the sprinklers third on April 22 for the sprinklers, and Finally again on May 2 for the sprinklers. we finally hired a local guy Peter who didn't actually get the job but looked at it on May 8 but said he had a two week back log, because his father was in the hospital and dying, eventually that two weeks turned into a month, and finally on June 12 he was given an ultimatum to get the job done, We hired John Gianttasio of Giantassio Electric to finally get the job done on Jun 20, and we found the mis wiring, we had to pay 265 dollars to John to fix the problem. We know that we paid 2 to 3 times as much as much as we should have, with the idea that the convenience comes with a price which was fine for me and my mother we need it done and rapidly because of the winter and it was the heat, the convenience we though we got was a rather inconvenience as I had to take 6 extra days off to have them look at the electric panel 4 times once for an estimate with Peter and finally with what we thought would also be an estimate with John Gianattasio he actually surprised us and got it done in less than 2 hours he actually arrived late. I had a bad vibe about Jim I didn't like the guy, and I felt he wasn't qualified Boy was I right, I called him out on the day he did the job on Nov 22, he didn't like it much being a licensed electrician myself, but with the restriction of my mother not wanting me to do the work myself because it is our rental nor do I have the patience to replace a breaker box, I do know how to do the work, he did not like me one bit when I was trying to see what he was doing. My mother was telling me to sit down and relax, I should have listen to my gut instead of my mother, since my mother has had a history of poor decision making in the last 18 years. Both myself and the tenant told my mother to shop around rather than go with that really high estimate, i took a total of 8 days off for this mess and at 5k a day I lost 40k in wages for this. Convenience what ever. both Jim and Juan both said they have 25 years with Gold Medal, I asked to see Juan's certificate of code compliance he and Gold Medal Refused. Requested some one other than Jim 3 times, got Jim twice out of those 3 requests. Horrible experience got the mistake on video, suing the company for repeated lost wages. and going after their licenses and insurances. Also going after the building inspector who approved it with the mistake. Sorry Gary you may be my friend but I gotta nail you on this one.

Same day service promised upon calling, arrived 1 hour late for the promised time frame, technician pleasant and knowledgeable, overcharged for refrigerant refill ($160 per pound for R-22) plus $149 service call, total charge $520 for 2 lbs of refrigerant. Happy that we got the cool air again in time for the night sleep with outside temperature in the 90's.

They get a 'C' because they never delivered the estimate. The appointment was done through Costco. Chris R showed up, though 40 minutes late. He was courteous and professional. He looked over the existing unit and talked a bit about A/C in general and, as Gold Medal does, pitched their general services for a monthly fee. Bottom line is while a got an email spam blast a day after the appointment, they only followed 6 months later and only then to ask if I got the estimate. When I told them I hadn't they said it would be emailed within two days. It's now been a year and half and I've still no estimate.

Horrible, Over Priced, Paid 3102 and change, Very Poorly done, Called them originally for electrical base board heater issues, Tech missed his calling he should have been a legal advisor to a used car lot, Conned my mother to use his services, due to availability, with out allowing her to shop around against my advise and the the advise of our tenant., Called them back 4 times for issues, Technician cut wire he should have repaired / replaced and didn't, Didn't fix problem made it worst because one heater no longer works, messed up sprinkler system discovered more than 6 months later, failed to get dig waiver, permit as required by law when installing grounding rod, failed to file after the fact ucc permit, properly, failed to complete the permit process in a timely manner, had to have permit manager escorted by cops to file permits as they failed to due it in the time frame allowable by law (14 calender days after repair), permits were approved in 2 days paid for more than 3 weeks later only after threatening them with law suit. Permit Manager did not know how to due her job (Permit Manager for Verizon and Optimum, I deal with this all the time, I do know better, 21 years field work for a total of 4 communications companies, currently regional manager of 3 of them, I am also NEC Compliant Certified (Licence Electrician with own license), Renewed after 10 years on Nov, 18, 2016 the day before original visit) Over cut into wall, secured over cut wall piece with duct tape not something you'd expect for a 3100 job, cut sprinkler zone control cable messing up sprinklers, wanted to charge 800 dollars to replace non working heater, that cost only 80 dollars in Lowes, still wanted to charge 1282 for replacing a wiring which we believe was damaged because of original tech's neglect, repeatedly requested another technician but kept on sending the same tech for follow up repair. Wanted a total of more than 2100 in additional repairs we believe to their negligence, My mother needs to learn to trust my gut as it is never wrong, I had a bad vibe about the original tech from the get go, he did not know of local and state laws about putting in a ground rod failed to secure a survey or dig waiver, was advised to call 811 but didn't (Since I work at Verizon and they run the 811 service I checked,) Believed original tech was not a certified electrician, made too many mistakes for some one who has been doing it as long as he and his colleagues had said. Job with a local more reputable service provider is only 980 dollars, and they do a much better job as my neighbor hired other provider, Using new provider to replace the wire believed was damaged, new provider is charging us 500 dollars 700 dollars less than Gold Medal. two or three times the price of anyone else, you pay for the "Convenience" they have been more of an "Inconvenience" as they did a rather poor job with now 4 call backs, and permit issues. I could have done better. And I should have done the job, my mother however since it is a rental house would not let me due to insurance reasons. Original tech when I were to look at his work from a distance while he was doing it continued to ask me if I was spying on him, and I simply replied, Yes I am, I do not trust you, You have already demonstrated your neglect, by not calling 811 or obtaining a survey. ( I had Survey On my Phone Refused to Give it to him, why should I do a job for him they he is supposed to do himself, I also had the under ground utility map as well, foolish people get this type of treatment from me, after all it is his job and he was being paid more than he should have been to begin with and we knew going into it and accepted it. ) The neglect of the companies employees is dumb founding do not use this company. Civil and criminal litigation filed in Ocean County Court, claiming the job was not due right and only allowing for cost of supplies (permit failure issues is a criminal offense in this state as it is considered unauthorized construction even for an after the fact permit if not filed and inspected with in 3 months which is wasn't repaired on Nov 22 inspection took place on Feb 8, permits filed on Dec 17 (past legal allowable time frame) approved December 19 paid for on Jan 9), Gold medal did not provide us with a copy of the inspection report as required by law, Gold Medal never requested inspection report to date, more than 3 months after inspection, as inspection reports have to be requested they are not automatically sent to either the customer or the provider, Gold medal never provided copy of permits for inspection, we obtained permits from the permit office themselves due to their failure, permit manager said we didn't need permits on hand for inspection, permits clearly say otherwise as all inspections require permits to be available upon request however they do not always look at or request to see the permit paperwork., for some one who has filed and obtained a bunch of permits that was very surprising, as well as the fact they didn't know permitting rules and regulations, It extremely bugs me how much they think they can get away with, not with me.) Because of their permitting issues all their master licenses including HVAC and Plumbing are currently suspended pending state facilitated certification from a third-party or state consumer affairs licensing board agent. Electrician's NEC Compliance certification has been revoked, not just suspended, as tech has never filed for a dig waiver, nor has the company, State will no longer allow their technicians to be certified by Gold Medal, under normal master licensing provisions. Cutting an underground utility due to a failure to get markouts, or surveys resulting from a dig waiver, is upto 5000 in state fines plus required fee for repairing, busted Utility's lines. otherwise it is just the cost to repair the utilities lines. A dig waiver is actually a waiver saying that if you cut the lines you accept responsibility of it and it's recognized as your mistake, or an unavoidable damage as well as you did what ever you needed to make sure that you do not affect the other companies lines no fines will occur, if filed properly, only the cost to repair the utility's services. Dig waivers usually prevent jobs from occurring for a minimum of 7 days to allow for markouts, Dig waivers are good in this town for 14 days, in other places up to 30 days for this type of job .

Gold Medal is large enough that they had 2 crews at my house within 4 days of signing the contracts and completely removed and installed 2 new 3 Ton HVAC systems in 1 day. The guys were professional, knowledgeable and took great care of my house, inside and out! Thoroughly explained all the bells and whistles of the new systems and left the house in the same shape as the when they arrived.

I have been happy with them. Other than one issue I had before, but it got resolved. It was not a biggie, but other than that, I use them all the time. They are a little expensive. I have been asked before for, not about them in particular, but about somebody looking for some work pertaining to plumbing issues and I did recommend them. Whether or not they dealt with them, I don't know right off the bat, but that's pretty much my side I would give them at the time.

I had really wanted to give Gold Medal 5 stars but I can not. Back in the fall of 2016 I contacted Gold Medal to come and investigate a strong sewer smell in my basement along with water coming in. It was determined by Barry and another gentleman (they would both get 5 stars) that my sewer line was broken. Barry told me exactly what he was going to do and wrote up an estimate for the work. I even asked him if he was going to be the one to do the work and he said "yes I'll be here" . He told me that they would dig up my basement floor and remove the sewer line and replace it. I was also going to have French Drains installed on the same day. Fast forward to "work" day , both the waterproofing team comes along with different plumbers not Barry to install a new sewer line. Great! Now I didn't go downstairs to monitor the work after all there was a work plan in place, I thought I was in good hands. That was a mistake. At the end of the day when they were showing what was done and what still had to be done I come to find out that the "work plan" was changed. The existing very dirty sewer line was left under the floor and was going to be covered when the French Drains were done. Now keep in mind that sewer line is right next to the French Drains, hence sewer gas can escape. I won't even get into how Gold Medal still charged me the same quote as stated by Barry but didn't do the job that was intended, they left that sewer line in place. But they did give me a good price of a new breaker box that they installed after I complained. I had spoken to several people and they assured me the smell would dissipate in time. After months Jan came to investigate the smell. He clearly smelled the sewer smell still. He told me a couple reasons why this would be. My bathroom sub-floor is rotten and wood smells, I didn't have windows open , and finally sometimes the soil has a rotten smell and I'm smelling that through the French Drains. And he dismissed my concern that the dirty sewer line is the cause of this terrible smell. He left me with 5 tubs of Bio Clean that he instructed me to sprinkle in the sump pump and along the walls by the French Drains. I did this along with using many other air purifiers , odor eliminators , charcoal bags you name I've tried it. But here we are months later and the smell is unbearable . Yes there are days when its better then the last, but today is the worst. I'm also unhappy with the money I paid for permits. I've recently found out that senior citizens don't have to pay for permits in my town, my husband is 70 years old , I even spoke about that to Anthony who gave me the quote for the French Drains. Very disheartening. I would encourage potential customers to make sure you watch the work being done, get a second estimate as I should have done. Also if you are a senior citizen call your town about any permit fees that you may not have to pay. I am having my bathroom gutted and remodeled in a few weeks . I'm wondering if that will help the smell, remember rotten wood smells like sewer gas....sigh.

They came a couple of times and knew what they were doing. They determined that the wiring leading to the thermostat was incorrect (they did not put this in originally). It was a complex problem and they fixed it. I had a service agreement with them. They service the heating and air conditioning once yearly. They also check the outlets in the house once a year and also check the piping once a year. My system is under a five year warranty. The first year was free and after that they had a bargain rate. They also give you a bunch of coupons for work needed done that is not covered by the warranty.

Electrician came and gave me a quote for $800. I declined and paid the minimum $29. Got an electrician to come out from Brooklyn. Paid for his gas, toll, lunch, service and parts all in all for $200. Got a call from them a few days later asking how it went. Told them i declined the service because your prices are outrageous and they immediately hung up. I guess they don't like to hear from us or they are so used to hearing about their high rip off prices. These guys are rip offs. We were having a new floor installed in the kitchen. I called Gold Medal and two representatives, Mike Jackson and Kevin (trainee) came out. They were on time, and after pulling out the oven, noticed that the line connection was outdated and out of code. They prepared several options for us to choose from including establishing a service contract for the oven and the other utilities in our home. They were effcient, clean while they worked and afterwards, and their work was excellent. Mike explained everything before beginning the job, and once the floor was in, came back the next day (on a Saturday) reconnected the oven with a new valve for no charge. We were very impressed with their work and professionalism. We would no hesistate to call them again and recommend their service.

01/23/2015The majority of member reviews about this Company always condemn their high price shedule by using their "book" pricing. I too have probably overpaid for two faucet repairs, but I did it with both eyes open. From past experience with this group I knew I was going to pay more than the routine plumber quotes I get, but I balanced that off by all the headaches I feel I avoided. Their phone number is promptly answered by smart friendly people without using an answering machine clogged up with unanswered messages, the job is scheduled ASAP, and a professional knowledgeable individual promptly comes on time with the correct parts, ability to fix it, and does it right the first time. You have to accept paying more and have to listen to a membership program sell, but all the positive effects that happen from using them when compared with the jobs done for me by their competition has to applied somewhere in the toal bill. Description of Work: I am amending the below review to add that I have since found out that I was lied to by the plumber involved in the 1/23/2015 repair visit. (See below). The plumber softened me up for the outlandish price charged ( sadly paid) by acting as if he had saved a life by his visit. As a do it yourselfer had I installed a MOEN 1022 cartridge in one of the two faucets and it would not stop leaking, hence the call to Gold Medal. The plumber they sent said it is lucky he came because the 2 faucets needed a MOEN 1025 cartridge and my DIY error with installing a1022 could have caused a dangerous pressure buildup that would have exploded in the bathroom pipe opening sending the cartridge flying out withe the force of a bullet. and hitting who knows who or what. Up until 6/3/2016, I thought the guy was hero. That day I found out on a Home Depot internet helpline that the 1022 and 1025 cartridges are interchangeable but Home Depot sold me the all brass model where as the 1025 is partially made from plastic. I am sure the outcome of the repair call would have been no different than it was on 1/23/2015, as he wouldn't have used the two Home Depot DIY parts anywat and I needed the 2 faucets fixed. I had already agreed to their exorbitant pricing schedule book and no one else reponded to my call. I probably would still use them in an emergency. But I don't like bering lied too and feel I must amend my review by adding a failing grade t\o my ex-hero's professionalism rating. Next time I will request they send out Pinocchio to the call so I can watch his nose size when he hands me the invoice.

Horrible. The tech showed up on time and was pleasant. Realized I was right: we needed to replace the outlet and quoted $212 on top of the $29.....for 10 minutes work and a $26 part. I told my wife that we'd pay the same $75 that we paid a local guy to do the same work last year (he was on vacation). Would have used him but needed the work done by Sunday the 12th. I bought the outlet at Home Depot for $26 and did the work myself Shame on you Gold Medal for deceptive advertising practices and cheesie loss-leader attempt to try to rip people off less knowledgeable folks
Description of Work: Needed a broken exterior GFI outlet replaced. They advertised a $29 electric service call. Clearly a loss leader. The call center was pleasant enough but refused to give a straight answer on cost, even though I asked a direct question. I knew exactly what needed to be done. Nothing more nor less, but was told that the tech needed to diagnose the problem and then and only then could a price be given
