Professionals! Quick booking of service - they could accommodate me with a service-person the next day. I had to call back to reschedule appointment and there was always a person to talk to about my job. My specific plumber called 30 min before arrival, Gold Medal Service sent a qualified plumber named Mike McCabe. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and helped troubleshoot a clogged R/O valve while he was there replacing a cold water valve. Saved me the time, effort and anxiety. GMS pay by the job, which can be pricey, but well worth the convenience of a quality plumber coming out quickly to solve your problem.

Appointment was scheduled on Feb. 1st, 2020 for 9:00 AM - 15:00 EST. A technician names Jorge called around 10:00 AM to inform me an estimated time of arrival within 30 mins. Jorge and myself discussed about my kitchen drain clogged, where is the main line, etc. I told him that the kitchen clogged has happened at least 3 times and have tried all tricks under the sun. We used a local plumbing company to help us once and charging us through the roof with many excuses (i.e. Norton Drain) and remainder unclogged were done by myself (DIY) renting tool from home depot and purchase a tool from Harbor Freight. Knowing the clogged occurred several times already and looking at the coupon which provides " 5-year Guarantee " that will give me peace of mind for at least 5 years forward. Jorge then explains to me about the guarantee is not exactly what printed on the coupon if he only unclogged the drain. Plumbing repair/replacement shall be done for me to have 5-year guarantee. Also, he is very knowledgeable in what he does and tried to provide few tips to assist me further with the clog going forward. Unfortunately, I did not authorize the required works being done due to the fact of FALSE advertisement coupon. Some of you as reader may be on my side thinking that Gold Medal Service is being "Dishonest", you make that judgement/conclusion. For me, the company can state the condition of 5-year guarantee in fine print (as you can see there is a room for that in the coupon). Homeowner Zip Code: 07034

Mom paid Gold Medal $100 to be part of their service system. She gave them a call for a leak in her bathroom. They came over and said she had a leak with her bathroom faucet. The tech installed a Gerber single handle faucet which according to Gerberonline.com costs $72. Tech installed new faucet, took an hour and said he was done. Mom got a bill for $749 but with some odd coupons came to $699. This is a 72 year old mom and grandmother who really doesn't know much about plumbing. I really have to say she has been taken advantage of in this situation. Where on this earth does it cost $749 to install a single handle faucet? Anyway when mom received the receipt it indicated the faucet was a MOEN. A mistake? Who knows. But there were no itemized charges at all. They were all boiled down to one charge. So it took the tech to install the faucet 45-60 minutes and used a $72 faucet. Even if the tech charged $200 an hour that bill would be $200+$72. $272. Mom and I called Gold Medal several times and they said they would deduct $100 first. Then we complained again and they said they would deduct $254. If Gold Medal was in the right here, why are they deducting anything? A company only will give a customer their money back if they know they are in the wrong. So here we are at $699-$254 which comes to $445. Still DOUBLE the average cost to replace a single faucet that took an hour. I have saved the video files from Mom's home security system to prove that the timeline is accurate and what took place if needed. Be careful of this company, if they see a target customer they most likely will take advantage.

Originally the repairs were scheduled for a Sunday (at the repairman's request,) but he canceled as his scheduled assistant called in sick, so work was done and finished the next Tuesday. Quality of work and clean-up done well, but much haggling involved in the overall pricing of the project. (Initially the plumber cited a $ 475.00 cost for each faucet installation, which was basically a 45 minute job each, hardware supplied by me.) The cost was then halved by various discounts applied by the plumber.
Description of Work: 2 faucets installed and a broken pipe in an upstairs bathroom was replaced.

It went excellent! I actually had to stay in a hotel for 4 days while they did most of the work.. They paid for my hotel stay, but, we did have some communication issues when it came to restoring my kitchen back to its original state! We did work it out & I am very happy with everyone I worked with at Gold Metal...
Description of Work: I had major sewer issues. They had to bring in Dry Tech Restoration to dry out the leak in my kitchen. Had to tear up tile in kitchen, rip out ceiling, cut drywall, jack hammer pipe in basement all the way out to the sidewalk.. Very big job..

Gold Medal was asked to determine the cause of a leak that was causing water damage to an area downstairs. They located the problem quickly. They also recommended that the hot water heater be replaced, since it was old. As a "Thank You" to them, I had them install a brand new hot water heater. They were very professional, and did the job promptly and correctly.

I am very disappointed in my experience with them. Three times they cancelled appointments that I had scheduled with them weeks in advance due to "emergency calls", AKA - more money than my free inspection. They did this to me the day before each time after I had already taken time off from work to be home. They did it first in November of 2017 and i had to wait another month. Then they did it again for the spring in May and June of 2018. I'm not even going to bother calling them to do the free service I'm signed up for - now I will pay someone to do it. Clearly they value getting more money from emergency calls than cultivating their relationship with current customers who are just trying to keep their system up with inspections. The one time they did show-up they did the job just fine but since then I just can't recommend them.

Gold Medal Service offered a "triple play” promotion to inspect the hot-water heater, furnace and HVAC for $69.00. We originally called to schedule on October 28, 2017 and their first available date was November 27. Then Gold Medal canceled that appointment and reschedule for December 11. When they came to the house, the technician, Tom Ciaccia, inspected the hot-water heater first and then the furnace. He said he was not going to inspect the HVAC system, due to it not being summertime. I explained to him that it also had a heat pump and we use it when it is extremely cold outside. He did not realize that because we were using the baseboard heat at that time. He then proceeded with his inspection. After he completed his inspection, he said everything was working fine. He then tried to upsell us a "total care club plan" for $299 per year and "enhancements" on our existing equipment and offered us a replacement hot-water heater. After he left, we noticed that the thermostat that controlled the HVAC batteries died the next day. We replaced them 4 times. I figured that the technician forgot to turn the air handler back on in the attic when he did his inspection. Since we only use that system when it is extremely cold, we didn't think much of it. We use our furnace with our cast iron baseboard heat our home most of the time. Then New Jersey got hit with the "bomb cyclone" and temperatures dropped to below 10 degrees. On the night of Friday January 5th, I went into the attic to see if there was power to the air handler. There was no power and the switch was turned on. I then went down into the garage to see if the breaker was in the on position. It was in the tripped position. I turned the breaker on and it tripped again. On Monday January 8th we called Gold Medal to schedule a tech to come out and see what happened. They sent a technician (Eric) out on Wednesday January 10 and after he looked at the system, he told us that he would need to come back out to perform troubleshooting and charge us $391 per hour. I told them that was not acceptable. Gold Medal caused the damage and I was not about to pay to fix their mistake. He said I would need to speak to his manager “Robert”. I called Robert two times and he never returned the call. The receptionist then put me through to their director of operations Steve Closs. I left a message with him and shortly after I had a return call from Sarah. I explained the above situation to her and she began to tell me that my system was 10-years old and that it was in poor condition. I told her that the system is not 10-years old, and it was working before their technician performed his evaluation. (Our system was installed in April of 2012). She then started to blame me for the damage and that I should have called them the next day. I then tried to explain to Sarah again that we do not use this unit for our primary heat and had no need to turn it on unless it was extremely cold, like this past weekend. She then offered to refund the $69 fee because I was not happy and part ways. I once again told her that it was not acceptable, I want them to come and repair what they broke. She continued to refuse to accept their mistake and repair our system. I told her that I started to read review about Gold Medal on yelp and Angie’s list and it seems like it is a common problem with their company. I wish I would have read those review prior to scheduling them to service our unit. Sarah then said that I should check their reviews on Facebook and google and they have a good rating with the BBB. I told her that I intend to post my experience on all those websites and contact the BBB. Eventually she said that “Mitchell” from customer resolutions will call me tomorrow and not to do anything until I speak to her. January 11th, Mitchel called. Explained to her again in detail what happened. She only offered to refund the service fee visit and did not offer to repair the damage caused by their technician. She forwarded me the details and work log of the service visit and there are no notes saying that the unit was not functioning properly. I pointed that out to her and pointed out that I received quotes to “add new features” my HVAC system and no mention of anything non-functioning that needed repairs. She still refused to accept their mistake and said that the service manager, Robert, would call me. He still has not called.

BEWARE OF THE BAIT & SWITCH!! They are very dishonest! When I scheduled the appointment at 11 am, I advised the agent that I owned the house but did not live there. I was given a window of between 3 and 7 pm. At 5:30 pm the dispatcher called and advised me that the plumber would arrive closer to 7 pm. At this point, I could not complain - who was I going to find after business hours. I received another call at 6:45 pm and was advised that since I did not live in the house the cost would be at least double of quoted $93 price. Also, that I had to provide a credit card number immediately or the plumber would not come to my house. The plumber had called in the interim. When I returned his call, he told me that he had listened to the taped conversation of my first call. He told me that the agent should have told me that since their were tenants, the special did not apply. Since "Gold Medal" waited 8 hours, I believe they should have provided the service at the quoted price. What kind of company waits 8 hours before disclosing their policies - a DISHONEST company. The agent read me a speech about their professionalism and good business practices. Empty words from a dishonest organization!

I have been using Gold Medal since 2005 for plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work. If you are looking for the low cost option, Gold Medal will probably not be your choice. However, my opinion is that they are worth it. They show up when they say, their workers are very skilled, professional, and clean. They will always give you a solid estimate before starting work, and they will stand behind it. This is a top notch organization in my opinion. They also provide same day service.

They are a little on the expensive side. Their quality is excellent, that's why we use them. They are right on top of it. I would use them again, we always use them, they are our plumber and elextreicna. They are the only one we go to for that. Definitely use them, very professional, on time, their service techs are just so nice and very respectful. We are senior citizens and they are very respectful to senior citizens or anyone with the way they act. We've used them for electrical work. We've used them for plumbing work. They put our whole house generator in. They are excellent, professional, prices are a little high but they are are really good. They know what they are doing and thery're always on time. They call from their last stop when they are fixing up their last stop to tell you how long they are going to be to your house, I like that. It is awesome that they do that. It took them about 5 minutes to get the battery installed. They cleaned uip where the generator is in the yard, cleaned all that up, took all the packing and old battery away, shut the generator and that was it.
