Haig was requested to reinstall self adhered alarm connection tabs after we had new vinyl windows installed. The Haig service rep was at our residence prior to the window installation and was advised by homeowner and he advised back that connections are self adhered. I asked at that time for a quote for a new system and that quote contained the words "self adhered connections." Haig installer did not use self adhered connections and drilled though the vinyl windows, which at that time were two weeks new, and voided the warranty as well as causing 3 windows to not operate as the screws impede the windows from opening. Other windows which pull in for easy cleaning are obstruced by the connection tabs and can cause premature window failure. The window manufacturer sent a representative to review the windows and advised that Haig's installaion caused the problem. A Haig employee came to the residence upon receiving the complaint and acknowledged that the install was incorrect. He even said that the tabs are of different colors and that the technician should have come to the office to pick up correct materials since we are located a few miles away from their shop. Haig has failed to address the fact new windows will have to be installed at a cost of over $4000.00. We were advised that we would hear from Haig a week after their acknowledgement of the damaged caused and we did not recieve any call. We called only to have the company President do nothing but ask stall type questions and fail to address the problem they caused and interrogate the homeowner as if we were the cause of their problematic install. He questioned how new was new windows and adivsed two weeks new. The company was to charge time and labor for the reinstall and after they ruined the windows they sent a pro forma bill for me to sign for over $500.00 for what I assume is their original installaion. This is over 250% greater than what was advised. What type of company sends an invoice / quote to be signed after they do the work and shoddy work at that.? DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. We are now going to special civil court to seek repayment for the damaged they caused and any additional claims. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR PERSONAL OR BUSINESS THEY LACK CREDIBILITY AND DO NOT STAND BEHIND THIER WORK.

T his is an untypical report. We were customers with Haig for over 20 years. This is the letter I wrote to them after one of our smoke detectors sent a false signal to the fire company. The fire company responded, examined the units we had and said they should have been replaced many years ago. "What is your definition of an alarm company? My definition is a business that provides a service to protect the client. Our equipment is over 20 years old. By any industry standards, this is almost 3 times the life of the smoke detectors. Who knows if all of the units still work? And if they work, are they still in proper condition to protect my family in case of a fire by sending a signal? One already gave a false alarm that triggered a response by the fire department. They are the ones that were shocked by the age of the equipment.Does that mean for over 10 years the detectors were not up to industry standards? What were we paying for all of those years? Not to mention that from a marketing standpoint you could have upgraded our equipment and made a sale.You have our money. We have no way to force you to return it. That is your decision. My only response is to go onto Angie's List and any other service-related site and post a very negative review explaining in detail how you did not protect us despite the fact you were paid, promptly, every year." We asked for our annual fee back which was paid in December and switched companies in response to their error in protecting us. They refused to give us even a prorated amount.See above.
