+ -1 moreI am new to Angies list and spent last night 'testing' by looking at reviews of people I have used. Not sure I am in agreement with many of them. I bought a new contemporary house in 1979 and was plagued by roof leaks for 13 years because of all the roof angles. Many roofers tried and failed. Walter redid the entire roof in 1992. For over 20 years now, my house has been leak free. My other neighbors used other roofing companies. They have all reroofed several times and are still having leaks. I know this is supposed to be a review of a new service. But, I think a review of a 20 year old sucess story is far more relevent and useful.

+ -1 moreI contacted Walter two days later and gave him the go ahead. He said he thought he would be able to do the work Friday of that week depending on how another job went. He did not show up that Friday or call me to reschedule. I tried to reach him the following week but he never returned my call. I left another message a few days later and even asked him to let me know whether he was still interested in the job or not, so if need be I could look elsewhere. I never heard from him again and at this point don't expect to. I am giving WHN a poor rating based entirely on Walter's unreliability and lack of responsiveness. It is unfortunate because I felt he would do a good job and wanted to use him but he was not dependable.
Description of Work: I have had a leaky roof for some time that previous workers have failed to correct. I called WHN based on their Angie's List rating and Walter called me back within a few days. He came out a couple days after that and assessed my situation. He spent a considerable amount of time on the roof and seemed to check things out pretty thoroughly. His recommendation and price seemed reasonable. I did not commit to him at the time because I was still awaiting another estimate.

+ -1 moreWalter was very quick to respond to my calls, provided a date as soon as I gave him the go ahead and completed on time. His pricing was fair and the quality of his work was very good.
Description of Work: I contacted Walter to replace the roof on my entire house which includes a porch. The roof on the porch was in a state of greater disrepair. Since we are in the process of selling the house I asked Walter to give me an estimate on replace the entire roof and just replacing the roof on the porch. I only used WHN to replace the roof on the porch but I would use Walter again in the future.

+ -1 moreWe couldn't be happier with WHN. They were very respectful, showed up when they said they would, finished in less than a week, and left our yard spotless. Walter (the owner) supervised the job himself and is a very likable and honest businessman.
Description of Work: WHN removed two layers of old roofing. Minor repairs were needed to the substrate which were done for no extra cost. They installed new roof and attic fan.

+ -1 moreI was very pleased with the work. Walter had replaced the roof on my next door neighbor's house 2 years ago. He was so professional, prompt and mindful of not letting any old nails fall on my property. He did such a good job on their roof that when I noticed my roof problems I went straight to my neighbor for his name and number. I had called 3 other companies for estimates as well: 1 company couldn't do the work for 6 weeks so they didn't even give an estimate. 1 company was professional but their estimate was higher and $50.00 of the estimate was for a permit that I really don't think they needed for a small repair on the back of the roof. The other company tried to tell me I needed a whole new roof- even though this roof is only 10 years old!!
Description of Work: I noticed an area of about 10' x 10' of shingles that were sliding of my roof, and had buckled. I could see that a strong wind would be a disaster -blowing off the shingles altogether. I called WHN when I noticed this on a Monday. On Tuesday he had come by to take a look and had left an estimate in my mailbox. He followed up with a phone message letting me know he'd been here and had taken a shingle with him so he could match it if I decide to have him do the work. I called him that night to go over the estimate and give him the go ahead. He said he'd be here to do the work by Friday because he didn't want to take the chance that we could have a bad storm and I would need more work. He arrived Thursday morning and completed the job within a couple of hours. He was neat, quiet (I work from home and he was respectful of this) and friendly. Great job!
