My dryer stopped working, with most of my underwear and bed sheets in it. I called Dave at about 8:30 PM. He got back to me within 30 minutes. He walked me through a test of the dryer, and determined it was the knob, not the underlying mechanism. He could have charged me $100 for the phone consult, but would not take a cent. I would recommend him to anyone. I am completely clueless when it comes to appliances, and he was stellar. If you EVER need appliance repair in Bergen County and call anyone else, which I have done in the past, you are a sucker.

True to other reviews I've seen here, Dave called back within 15 minutes of my call. I described the problem and told him what I suspected was wrong, based on my own research. I gave him the brand and model number of my dryer. He promised he could have the job done within a little more than 3 hours, and that he would call when he was on the way. He arrived on time, part in hand. He was friendly, professional, efficient. 3½ hours after my initial call, he was walking out the door, repair complete. Not only did he repair the problem, he also cleaned out accumulated lint that could have been a hazard. (That task took as long as the repair.) I did think the price was a little high, to install a $50 part. However, I would call Dave again without hesitation. As far as contractors go, he is a homeowner's dream: He was prompt, clean and competent; he communicated, he did what he said he would, when he said he would. I'm willing to pay a few dollars more for that. Also, he was very honest: I told him to check another part that might be worth changing as long as he was here. He easily could have done that and made more money off the service call, but he said no, it was fine.

Showed up on time. Performed the service satisfactorily. I was not present. Per my wife the vendor was at our house less than an hour. $267.50. My issue is strictly regarding the price/invoice. The invoice was not broken out with parts vs labor or even a name of the part used. You are paying for convenience. Very professional and punctual, but I felt ripped off. The way a customer feels after a transaction is just as important as showing up on time and doing good work. My advice, use a more formal invoicing system so that your customers don't have to wonder if you are just making up numbers and asking for a check.

I phoned up, and within 20 minutes, Dave phoned back. We were able to schedule an appointment within a 1.5 hour time range later on the same day. He also explained to me how the free service call coupon worked for Angie's List members so that there would be no misunderstandings. Dave arrived on time and went right to work. He looked at the old ice-maker on our 12-14 year-old refrigerator, and noticed that there were ice cubes frozen in the unit, which, he told us, meant that the problem was likely in the ice-maker rather than with other components, as it meant that the unit had recently produced cubes, but these were not being pushed out by the motor into the ice collection bucket. He then told us the cost to replace it, which, we realized, was a little higher than "average," but not so far out of line as to make it worth shopping around. So we decided to go for it. Dave removed the old unit, and looked it over more closely. He became even more certain that the problem was the ice-maker, as he observed and showed us where there was corrosion on the unit, indicating moisture had probably gotten into the electronics, and that this would have likely have caused it to stop working. Fortunately, Dave had a replacement unit in his truck, and brought it in to begin the installation. As our old unit was designed to mount in an unusual location, and the new unit was more common design, he had to use some of the plastic parts from our old unit, which were, fortunately, in excellent condition, and install them into the new unit. But this was not a problem, as most of the parts from the old unit fit perfectly, and for those that didn't, he simply used the new unit's parts. Bottom line, by using a combination of parts, he was able to save us some money because the exact replacement would have been more expensive than the more widely used unit he brought with him. It took him around an hour, give or take a few minutes, to assemble the replacement unit, and to install it in place in our refrigerator. Afterwards, he explained to us that it would take around 6 hours or so for the unit to make ice, and so not to worry if we didn't see cubes immediately. He also explained good practice in avoiding a common cause for icemaker failure, namely condensation caused by keeping the freezer open too much. Therefore, he suggested we limit the amount of cleaning we did of the freezer, which would normally require keeping it open or even defrosting it, something he said wasn't good for the refrigerator. He also explained that there was still a small possibility that another component had also failed, for example the optical sensor, and that if this was the case, he'd have to come back to fix that at an additional cost. So, at least we knew what we might expect in a worst case scenario. Fortunately, that didn't turn out to be an issue, as the new "frankenstein" icemaker worked perfectly, once we realized that the on-off switch was turned to the off position! At any rate, Dave was great about phoning later that evening to check on whether the icemaker had worked, and at that point, we told him that it hadn't yet made ice (before we realized the switch was off). So he asked us to wait till the next morning to see what happened. The next morning, my wife noticed the switch was off, and so she turned it on, and phoned Dave to leave a message saying that she'd just turned on the switch, and would call later that afternoon after some hours had passed. Within a couple of hours, it began making ice, so that when Dave phoned us about two hours later, prior to the time when we'd expected it to have begun making ice, I looked in the freezer and lo and behold, there were cubes! It's really nice that we found a repairman who cares about his work and his customers enough to follow up to make sure everything turned out as expected and to work through any hiccups. We will definitely be calling Dave again when we have an appliance problem in the future.

He was quick and efficient. Made a call and he came within the hour as promised.

Called Dave and left a message and he responded in 15 minutes. Explained my problem with my gas dryer, he said he would be over by 1:00pm and he was. He opened the door to the dryer, immediately diagnosed the problem and explained it to me. Had the part on his truck, did the repair and made sure the machine worked. This is the second time I have used Dave, and if the opportunity arises where I need his services again, I will not hesitate to call.

Dave was timely, knowledgeable, professional and straight forward. I wished I could have dropped a few hundred on this repair and saved some $, but I'm relieved I didn't order all the parts, try to fix different issues myself only to learn that the real issue wasn't worth fixing.

Excellent. Dave responded immediately to my request for service, set the appointment, and came the next day and fixed the dryer to our satisfaction.

Not very complicated. He knew what to do and look for, and did it expeditiously. Would certainly use him again.

My KitchenAid Dishwasher is about 6 year old and a number of years ago I had a different repair person come in to clean it and clean the hoses. While it appeared that the cleaning improved performance, it needed cleaning again as bits of food were not being ground adequately. He came in, clean the traps where the food was accumulating, also identified that the prior person had not put all the screws back in. After his visit, I ran a wash and it is working perfectly. My 15 year old GE top load washer was making loud noises and we determined that it was no longer spinning at the end of the cycles (leaving lots of really wet clothes to dry). He determined it was the motor that was the issue, but advised that cost to replace is high, and if any other parts were to fail, then we would be paying more than by just purchasing a new machine. We decided not to repair at this time and to purchase a new machine. Honestly, if he had said how much it would cost to fix and left it at that, I probably would have thought, okay; but it was really great that he talked through the longer-term cost so we could decide on whether to try to save the old machine or just get a newer one. I liked him and would hire him again.

Evaluated the fridge, but the problem was apparently a "sealed system" so not cost effective to repair. Charged for an evening service call- was happy to pay and glad he made it over. Clean, fast efficient, honest.

Like a dream! We noticed on the eve before our family gathering that the oven was not working. We called Dave and he came promptly to our house the following morning. He diagnosed the problem and replaced the heating element in practically no time. We were able to prepare the meal and have an enjoyable family gathering that evening.

Dave responded to my inquiry the same day and we scheduled a service appointment the next day, which was my earliest availability. He arrived on time, and after testing a few things, he noticed that the previous owner had pushed the dryer against the gas pipe, which had in turn punctured and crushed the vent tube. This was why the dryer was not drying clothes, and the situation was a huge fire hazard. Essentially for $200, my family was saved from a dangerous situation. He also cleaned the slight mess that was made during the repair process. Dave even called the next day to see if the dryer was working well. If I need appliance repair again in the future, I will definitely use Dave.

Service was great. Dave was on time. Came within less than two hours and fixed the problem with the dryer.

Our ice-maker was slowing down in production a lot...and creating icicles and huge chunks. I e-mailed Dave to see if it was something he handles. Not only did her respond to me the same day, but he came to our house and replaced it the next. He was punctual and friendly, and we have ice again!

Tenant called because of and issue with the Gas Range in the apartment. Looked in Angie's list for a provider and I ended up choosing Dave's based on the Angie's list reviews. He's got an answering machine, but he's prompt in getting back to you. Based on the issue, he gave my problem a priority and squeezed it into his schedule. I described the problem and he pretty much knew the issue and was able to give me a pretty good estimate. He showed up and fixed the issue as he described. I just wished he could have charged me instead the tenant, but that was his policy and we needed to get it done right away. I would call Dave again if I need another appliance repair.

Our KITCHENAID dishwasher stopped working at a very critical time of day for our family. After contacting Dave and leaving a short message, as promised, in 15 minutes he got back to us and set up an early morning appointment. He arrived the following morning well within his expected time frame. There was no waiting around, and we were extremely pleased. There are very few individuals and firms that can promise that kind of reliable service today. I found Dave to be a very personable, professional and knowledgeable individual. He explained very clearly the situation at hand and offered other viable options and alternatives. The repairs and adjustments were completed very satisfactorily. Yes, I will definitely recommend him very highly, and use him again for any other service and repair needs as they arise.

Washing machine broke on a Thursday night, spoke with Dave Friday morning and he was out first thing Saturday morning. He knew exactly what the issue was just by the symptoms i told him. He had the part and it was fixed within 20 minutes. You can tell he has been doing this for some time. Will use again (although i hope i don't need to).

Our oven broke Sunday afternoon and left a message on Dave's voicemail. To our surprise he called us back the same day (Sunday on a weekend) and setup an appointment. Dave arrived promptly for the appointment and was able to diagnose and fix the issue very quickly! He is extremely knowledgeable and professional and even took the time to show the problem and describe the required fix in detail. The entire process went great and the price was very fair. We will definitely call him again if any of our other appliances have issues and would highly recommend him to anyone else!

My dishwasher had not been cleaning dishes very well and the detergent was not releasing at all from the main compartment, and instead needed to be filled before each load. Our experience using Dave's services was superb. He was very easy to communicate with and arrived only days after I first reached out to him. He got our diswasher up and running in no time! I would highly recommend his services and I'm sure that my family and I will be using him again in the future.

I called Dave and explained that I was not sure if it was worth having him come to my house and look at my 7 year old electric clothes dryer. I explained I could get a new for about $450 dollars and did not want to spend more than $150 dollars in repairs. After explaining to him what was wrong with my dryer Dave said it would likely cost over $250 to repair one likely problem alone. As a result I decided to buy a new one. His honesty cost him a trip to my house and a diagnostic fee. It is rare you find someone as honest as Dave. I have used Dave over the years. There are times when he is not sure what is wrong with an appliance and he will charge to come and diagnose the problem and fix the appliance if he can. He does good work. Yet I had a problem with a washer once and he explained over the phone that based on the age and problem I described it was not worth him coming out to diagnose and fix the machine. As I said it is rare to find someone as honest as Dave.
