Description of Work: I used Angies List to find an appliance repair service, as our Kenmore Dryer was not heating up. Dave's Applicance Repair was highly rated on Angies List, so I called him at 8:30 A.M. today, Tuesday morning. His phone was answered by an answering machine with Dave's voice explaining that "This is not a typical answering machine. Please leave your name and number and this machine will contact me in my truck, and I will call you back within 15 minutes." I received a response call from Dave about 10 minutes later. I described the problem (the dryer was not heating), and Dave explained that, normally, he would be over to fix the machine that day, but he was not feeling well and was probably going to end the day early. He asked if he could schedule an appointment for the following day. Because we had plans for the following day, Dave and I scheduled an appointment for Thursday upon our return home. Dave said that there would be a possibility that he might call back today, but that he would probably see us on Thursday. My phone rang about 30 minutes later, and Dave explained that he just finished a job in Paramus and that he would be at our house in 15 minutes. Dave arrived within 15 mnutes. He drives a well-painted van with "Dave's Appliance" logo and information, was very presentable, professional, and personable (despite not feeling well.) He dismantled the dryer, cleaned it, installed new burner coils, and charged $165 plus tax. The entire service call took about 25 minutes. I paid via check and received an invoice. Dave put a "Dave Appliance Repair" sticker on the dryer. The dryer works well!

Was extremely polite and knowledgeable and fixed our dryer in short order. + -1 moreI called and left a message and Dave got back to me within twenty minutes. He then showed up in person about an hour and a half later. He was very courteous, knowledgeable and very fair with regard to pricing. He told us exactly what he was going to do and did the job well.
Description of Work: Our gas dryer (it is about 15 years old) would not heat up. We figured it would be time to get another one at this time but wanted to be sure that we did not need to spend the money if at all possible. Dave told us that all we needed was a new thermostat and that there was plenty of life left in the machine. I also had him replace some "dogits" for our washer which was not spinning properly. I had ordered these parts about two months ago and had not yet had time to install them. Dave actually did this free of charge. We would highly recommend Dave and will use him again without hesitation.

Description of Work: I called Dave, after getting his name from your list, around noon today b/c my washer was making this awful screeching noise. He said he would be here before 3 pm and was! He's very friendly and very professional...I was not worried about allowing him into my home. He listened to the sound from the machine for less than a few seconds and knew exactly what the problem was. He had the coupler on the truck and the machine was fixed within 20 minutes or so. He tested the machine, with the load of clothes I had been trying to wash, and discovered that the agitator was not working properly either. Told me the cost of thepart for it and after I agreed, he had the machine up and running within minutes. Total time here under an hour...not exactly sure, but it was quick. I was totally pleased with this service. Also, he took the time to make sure I understood the coupon he offers which is $70 off his "walking in the door" if he performs the repair. I was perfectly ok with this...it is only fair and made sense. The total cost was a little higher than I expected, but then again, he fixed 2 things on my machine...it was not an overcharge by any stretch of the imagination. I will definitely call Dave for any future appliance repair problems I have and would recommend his service to my friends.

+ -1 moreIt went great. Dave came in and took the ice out. Then he used some hot water and and something to clean out the hole and its all fixed!! He was fast, knew what he was doing and was very clean and neat. It took him less than 30 minutes to do. My only complaint was that it cost $110. I think $75 would have been more appropriate.

I initially has a repair call setup with PSE&G and when they sent a technician to repair my stove, and I wanted my refrigerator repaired it turned out to be a great opportunity to use Angies List. I researched for appliance repair and I notice the Dave's Appliance repair had 22 reports and all were A's, with very positive comments. I called and spoke to Dave and unfortunately his truck was being repaired so he wasn't sure that he would be able to get to us until next week. He told me that he was waiting for the repair shop to get back to him and that he would call me back to let me know if he would be available. We spoke several times on Friday August 5 and he said he would call me on Saturday morning to let me know when he would be available. He called me as he said and showed up very soon after we spoke. He was very knowledgeable and upfront we me regarding the repair. We have a very old refrigerator and he said that the part would not be available. He still continued to see if there was anything that he could do to fix the problem. He made some adjustment and it seems to be ok so far. While he was working on the refrigerator I asked if he could also check out a leak on our washer and a heating problem on our dryer. He looked at both of them and was able to fix the problems on them as well. I am grateful that I re-subscribed to Angies list. I will definitely use Dave's Appliance Service again. Thank you. Dave for the education.

+ -1 moreOMG!!!! What is not to love about this man? Nothing. We loved everything about him. We had a problem with our Neptune Washing Machine. We contacted him on Monday and explained the problem to him. He told my husband to try a few things first and if that didn't work to call him and he would be over. We tried it and it didn't work so my husband called him first thing this mourning and he said he would be here between 9-9:30 am. At 9:10 am the doorbell rang and it was Dave. He went right to work and explained to me everything that he was doing and what he thought the problem was. He was here about an hour and found 2 things wrong with the washing machine but it cost us more to fix than an new washing machine. So he gave us his recommendations on a new washing machine and etc. I will not call anyone else but Dave from now on. He was very courteous, punctual and basically did everything to help us save money. I will do business with him again and will also recommend him to anybody and everybody. Thanks Angies list for finding Dave for me and thanks so much Dave for all that you did. You have new customers for life. Hello again! Just wanted to update-we followed Dave's reccomendations for a new washing machine and just wanted to say thanks! We got our new washing machine yesterday and we love it!!! + -1 moreDave was an excellent service provider. I am keen on customer service and his was superior. The word I would use is highly-skilled. Where I've used generalists from PSE&G through their "worry-free" maintenance plan (the energy company who offers to fix your appliances too), they never really seemed like they knew what they were doing (a lot of phone calls and trips to get parts). Dave returned my call within 15 minutes (as promised on his website) and talked specifically about my issue to ensure he was properly supplied for the call the next day. Today he came promptly at 9am, with the necessary part and found 1 other issue for which he also had the part handy. He was extremely informative and courteous. I highly recommend his services. I will be using him again for future issues with other appliances (as I'm sure there will be issues).
Description of Work: Refridgerator Repair: GE side by side PSS26MSTE SS. Had to replace heating element and sensor. Fridge was not defrosting properly. Problem began over a year ago. Unit is only 5 years old but research told me this is a common problem with this model. Dave showed up promptly with all the necessary parts and was extremely informative about the nature of the refridgerator-market overall.

Description of Work: I have a problem with my refrigerator - the water and ice mechanism was broken. Dave came out to assess the issue and also to check out a few other appliances. He had to get a part, however, about a 1/2 hour away and counted the time he drove to and from the place into his labor. It was only after he finished and saw the look on my face when I saw the bill that he said I could have put my food in another fridge and he could have come back the next day, thereby saving me money...he assumed since I didn't have another fridge that I wouldn't want that option... however, I could easily taken my food to a neighbor to keep for me. Also I had a coupon for a free service call worth $70. I can't believe it would have been ANOTHER $70 on top of the $363 it cost me! He was very nice, friendly and pleasant to talk to, however.
Description of Work: remove back of refrigerator/freezer, melt frost, and replace heat removing element .

Description of Work: We contacted this company and Dave came out on Sunday afternoon to repair our Kitchen Aid refrigerator which is 8 years old. He arrived in a very timely fashion and inspected the fridge and provided us with three possible options: a repair, a compressor replacement or replace the entire unit. He told us that if the repair did not work, he would not recommend compressor replacement and that replacement of the entire fridge would be our best choice. We chose to repair and it worked!! Dave put in a replacement part called a capacitor.

+ -1 moreExcellent service. I used a special Angie's List offer to get a lower price, so I definitely got more than I paid for. I saw lots of lint accumulation in my dryer so I knew the vent needed cleaning, even though I had it done 18 months before. In the past, the service people just blew air through the vent system. Dave showed me that the proper way to clean dryer vents is to take the drum out of the machine, since lint collecting in the bottom of the machine is the biggest fire hazard. I sure didn't know that and, apparently, neither did the 2 companies that did my last 2 dryer cleanings. Dave showed me mounds of lint on the dryer bottom, including one area that looked "singed"--he said this is how fires start. I had used Dave's service before for a refrigerator repair. This time, again, he was prompt, very professional, and cleaned up carefully. I was very pleased and have recommended his service to other people, and would call him again for any repairs.

+ -1 moreHe had a very good recommendation and that?s why I used him. It cost me about $96.30 with tax. He was a very nice and pleasant man. He explained what he was doing. He didn't offer all kinds of expensive alternatives. I asked him if he thought that we should just get a couple of pieces for it or if we should replace it. So, he told me that I didn?t have to spend money since it wasn?t necessary and told me that it would work fine. I found him reliable. He came when he said he was coming and it was on rather short notice. The price was very good and I was very happy with it. I would definitely use his services in the future too.
Description of Work: Dave’s Appliance Repair checked out my dishwasher in February. There was some plastic piece and there was debris stuck in the filter. When it rinsed, the water wasn’t coming through with enough force to get the dishes cleaned. He cleaned out the screen and checked everything. He ran it to make sure it worked better and it did.

Showed him the appliance, removed the front panel and tried to duplicate experience. Everything worked beautifully. Didn't need to call him, but he taught me so much, would definitely call him again when needed. Very knowledgeable, professional, and nice.
Description of Work: Our GE Profile Washing Machine made odd squealing sounds when in agitation. Was afraid the belt was off kilter .
