DAVE'S APPLIANCE REPAIR

Dave came.Very nice man. Had a discount but did not understand how he took it off the bill. Cleaned out the chopper and filter on dishwasher. Felt price was too high for work performed. He had to come back a second time and charged again for the same thing. Felt that was not right. would not ever use again.

Dave was very responsive - I left a message for him and he called back immediately. We scheduled a day and time for him to service the dryer. Not only was he very professional and punctual; he even called me the night before to get the model of my dryer so that he could have parts on hand to solve the problem without having to come back. Would definitely call Dave again for any service needs.

Just as before, the experience was extremely positive from the first call through the repair. Dave returned our call within 10 minutes. He came the next day (10 minutes early!), and explained that one of 3 things could be the problem. Rather than attempt to repair the refrigerator when it could have been a simple fix and have to charge us for unnecessary work Dave recommended trying this step first. We were impressed at his honesty. Unfortunately, the "easy" fix didn't work. We called Dave, he immediately responded, scheduled the appointment and he was once again on time. He took the time to explain what each of the 3 problems could be and the costs associated with each one. He brought all 3 parts with him so he could be sure to leave with the repair done. Once again a great job and the refrigerator is working!! Dave even followed up that night to make sure it was running properly. Besides being prompt, polite, professional and punctual, he is a super nice guy. Very personable and so nice. We couldn't be happier! We would not call anyone else!! We found Dave through Angie's list. The best part is that he was willing to come to our home on Saturday afternoon, a couple hours after we first contacted him.

My dryer loads started feeling damp. I could tell the heat had been on but the load was not dry. This went on for a couple of months and got to be the regular course of events. The dryer was over 5 years old and had never needed service before. I checked The List and Dave was number 1 and also did not charge Angie's List members a service visit fee ($70). Not all vendors do charge this and some charge much less but his reviews were good. I gave Dave a call and he picked up! He took my number and called back in 5 minutes. He asked a few questions, getting more specific. Then he advised me he could be at my house tomorrow but that I might want to clean my vents and see if I that took care of the issue. He did not know I was an Angies List client yet, so that spoke in his favor. I had tried to clean the long exhaust vent on my own but could not, so I made an appointment. He was right on time. After checking the dryer he described what I had been experiencing better than I did and asked if he had the facts right. He told me it was the heating coil which would start up but the dryer heat would then turn off and not turn back on. He also showed me the flame underneath and noted it did not seem to be venting as well as it could. In less than an hour he had cleaned the vents and replaced the coil. He kept his prices for different jobs in a folder (including a vent cleaning) so he clearly wasn't making it up as he went along. Then he set the dryer and told me to check the heat when it was done to be doubly sure it worked. (It did). I don't know if he is the absolute cheapest (not always a good sign anyway) but his price seemed in-line and I will call him again if I need an appliance repair. He also mentioned he did not do installations as they require a second person to do them correctly and he works alone.

I called Dave and left a message. He returned my call within five minutes. He was completing a job nearby so he was at my house within ten minutes. I can't say enough about this old school ( I say that as the ultimate compliment) repair man. He was professional, knowledgeable and honest. If they were all like this we wouldn't need angie's list.

Our clothes dryer was broken, so I called Dave's Appliance Repair in Dumont, NJ. Dave responded almost immediately to my call and was at our house within the hour. After diagnosing the problem, he called us back later in the day with a price on the new motor and labor cost. He was very candid in his recommendation...don't get it fixed, buy a new one, it will be cheaper! Overall, very professional and I would refer him to anyone who asks.

CALLED DAVE AFTER READING THE REVIEWS ON ANGIE'S LIST REGARDING A PROBLEM THAT I HAD BEEN HAVING WITH MY REFRIGERATOR. HE RESPONDED PROMPTLY AND CAME OVER THE SAME DAY EVEN THOUGH IT WAS AFTER HOURS. ALTHOUGH IT TURNED OUT TO BE A MINOR PROBLEM, IT WAS NOT EASY TO DIAGNOSE AND YET DAVE DID SO IN A COMPETENT AND EXPEDIENT MANNER AND CORRECTED IT. HE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS THROUGHOUT AND THE CHARGE WAS MORE THAN REASONABLE. WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HIM TO OTHERS AND CALL HIM IN THE FUTURE SHOULD THE NEED ARISE.

He is extremely punctual about getting back to you. He is very prepared when he comes to your home and is also very knowledgeable about his diagnoses of the problem. Dave is very courteous when coming into your home and is a pleasure to work with. You don't have to look any further for someone in appliance repair because he is at the top. If he feels like the repair is unnecessary he will will tell you to purchase another appliance instead of wasting the money on a repair.

Dave was prompt, professional, and tidy. He diagnosed the problem immediately, efficiently repaired the machine, and made recommendations for maintaining the washer and dryer in good working order. The washer is working well now and we will call Dave again for future appliance repairs.

I left a message and he returned my call in 5 minutes. I told him the problem and he said he'd be at my house in 10 min. He arrived, made a quick and accurate diagnosis. He changed the burner coils and the dryer was working in under 1/2 hr!I highly recommend him and would call him in a heartbeat if I had any other problems with major appliances/!

I left a message to schedule a service appointment and was called back immediately by Dave. He promised to be there between 9 and 11 a.m. He was at my door at 8:45, immediately diagnosed the problem and had the parts on hand to repair my washing machine. He was personable and helpful. I mentioned that my refrigerator was leaking and he offered to come upstairs to take a look. He immediately was able to tell me what was wrong with it, quoted a price to repair and an estimate on how long the project would take.

The experience was extremely positive from the moment I called to schedule the appointment until the time Dave left my home. The woman who initially answered the phone when I called was professional and personable. She took the information on the machine and said Dave would return my call within 15 minutes, and he did. He was beyond nice, and we quickly scheduled the appointment. He called the next day to ask for a little more information. I had to look it up and call him back. He said no time was too late to leave a message with the information. I called at 7:30 p.m. , and he immediately answered the call. Without hesitation I would recommend Dave to others, and if I have a problem in the future I will call him. My cost would have been -0- based on his free service call coupon on Angie's but I forgot to use it!! My bad!! Thanks Angie's List!!

I called his phone service for a problem with the dryer. He called back within 15 minutes and we scheduled a same-day appointment. He came like 10-15 minutes earlier than scheduled. He figured out the problem immediately, cleared out the dryer vent, replaced the coils and that was it. Great job!

Overall excellent experience. I found Dave's Appliance through Angie's List, and selected the service based on other positive reviews, as well as location and coupon offer. My oven would not work properly. The broiler and burners worked, but main oven heating element was non-functioning. I called Dave's Appliance and he (Dave) was extremely friendly on the phone; he seemed to know right away what the problem was, and told me that he had a replacement part available, what the replacement part would cost, and that he could come by almost immediately to repair the oven. Maybe I just got lucky that he was done for the day and nearby, but Dave showed up within about 30 minutes of my call, was extremely nice, and repaired the oven straight away. The cost was exactly what he told me on the phone earlier - no surprises. In addition, Dave was very personable and, upon learning I had just moved to the area only weeks before, offered suggestions for local restaurants and shopping, and was just very welcoming. I would recommend his service, and I will very likely call him again if I need any other appliance repair.

Our dryer stopped tumbling and I wasn't sure whether to buy a new one or not. I went on Angie's list and figured I'd try fixing it and see what happens. I found Dave since he had so many good reviews and called him on Wed. afternoon July 4th. A message was taken and Dave called me back about an hour later to set up an appt. between 9 - 11am on July 5th. He actually showed up early at 8:55 am - took me by surprise! He diagnosed the problem w/i two minutes and replaced my belt. He also cleaned up the lint/dust from the inside. He left his sticker on my dryer in case anything else happens, or his solution doesn't work. I thought he was great! Wish all service calls could go like this one. Of course the proof is in the pudding since I am writing this and he just left and I haven't really used my dryer - but I will definitely use Angie's list if anything changes. Overall - terrific!

Dave called back when he said he would, showed up when he said he would, and was courteous and professional. He promptly identified the problem and fixed it.

Outside of there being a small problem with parking for him, due to emergency utility work being done on my street, everything went perfectly. He gave both a good answer as to how a freaking pencil could have gotten in the vent (falling down into the filter if it had been on top of the dryer, for instance) and also gave me some additional advice about how to care for my washer/dryer. He was very professional, didn't mess around - just got everything done and taken care of. I will note -- this is the first time I've actually had to get an appliance fixed so I don't have a good comparison for how much it should cost, but even with the $70 coupon, a 10-minute job cost more than I would have expected. But, then again, I don't think I would have been able to determine what the problem was on my own and I feel very confident that if he missed something, he would be happy to come back and re-fix. That's worth the price in the end.

Once Dave opened up the machine he found that the pulley mechanism to which the belt is attached had also broken. To get at that he had to remove the entire drum. While the machine was disassembled he also discovered that there had been a huge collection of lint accumulated in the filter which had basically cut off the air-flow to the dryer and was a fire waiting to happen. Over the next 90 minutes, Dave cleaned the filter, replaced the broken part, installed the new belt, set the drum back into place and closed up the machine. Dave was very meticulous in his work, leaving the area in which he had worked in a cleaner state than when he arrived. My wife and I are thrilled that the dryer has worked like new ever since. By replacing several parts and doing some needed maintenance while the machine was open, Dave saved us not only the cost of what were sure to be future needed repairs, but also the cost of a new dryer and perhaps the cost of a potentially deadly fire. We both highly recommend Dave's Appliance Repair and will call him again if ever we need any of our appliances serviced.

I called Dave based on these reviews and was not disappointed. My Whirlpool Duet Washer had stopped draining. After calling, Dave called back in a few minutes, set up an appointment and arrived on time. Turns out, I needed a new water pump (old one was squealing). He was friendly, quick, and gave me some pointers on how to best run the machine. Old fashioned, small-town service at it's best. Highly recommended, and will definitely use again for any appliance.

Things went very well. He wasn't able to repair the problem, but he was very responsive, honest, and thorough. It seems we simply needed a new washer. Furthermore, he charged a very small service fee after spending a significant amount of time on the issue.

Dave returned my call within in 10 minutes and assured at the door less than one hour later. He took care of the problem in a business like manner and I will certainly call him again if I run into any appliance problems.

Because of repairman' advice and because I'm handy, I was able to make the repairs myself and keep the machine. Repairman was prompt and very professional.

I am absolutely thrilled to have found Dave. Previously, I had a repairman advise me that my front load washer, no more than 4 years old at the time, would need to have the entire tub replaced because a ball bearing/tub unit was coming loose and that it would cost over $700 to install a new one. Dave came in, actually took the machine apart and discovered that it was not the ball bearing/tub unit that was causing the problem, but that the pulley system needed to be replaced. Also, we have a range in the basement that was fried after the October snow storm caused a power surge in the house and Dave was able to replace the electronic circuitry on the range and now it works fine. He also made a great suggestion to get our dryer working better, and now of course it works without a problem. Dave was prompt, knowledgeable and above all else, very honest. His estimates for repair parts and time spent to repair/install were accurate. He follows up afterwards to make sure that everything is working fine. Overall, I am very happy with Dave's Appliances and will use him again. I have also recommended him to friends in need of a good appliance repairman.
