These guys are great! Steve came out to provide a quote which was very fair. He described the process and what I can expect afterwards - a dry basement. The crew came out as scheduled and worked cleanly, diligently, and exactly how Steve described: A trench was dug around the inside perimeter of the basement, filled with rock and a pipe w/holes in it to allow water to be captured, and holes drilled into the cinder block to allow water to exit. 2 sump pumps were installed (1 w/battery back up), and they filled in my existing sump pit (it was not properly placed). The exit/drain pipes were run in the trench and up the wall and exit the house. Everything was cemented over. During the work, Giovanni did an excellent job keeping me apprised of the progress. After the work was done, Giovanni went over the work done with me. This set up is way better than what I had. The 2 pumps are very quiet ... a soft hum when activated. I am very excited to have a dry basement - no humidifier (Giovanni explained one is not needed ... and best not to have being it most likely will pull moisture into the basement). No more mold! I highly recommend having any damp basement issues resolved by United Waterproofing!

A team of 5 arrived early in the morning and was able to complete the entire job in one day. They were professional, pleasant and did an outstanding job. I was very pleased with the experience and would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone. They will be the one I call if I need further work.

When Steve first came to my house I felt very comfortable with what he was telling me. I showed him an area in my basement that had a crack in the floor. I pointed out that the water was a little murky and had a sewage like smell to it. Steve stated that he has been in this business for a long time and that water and smell was 100% ground water. I told him I had a concern that it might be one of my cast iron pipes under the concrete floor. Steve again reassured me that it was ground water. Steve also stated to me that all of the signs that he was seeing in my basement was showing that my concrete block foundation was filled with water and when they drill the weep holes water was going to “ POUR “ out. Fast forward to the date of the work. As soon as Giovanni walked into my basement he smelled what Steve said was “ground water”. Once he saw the murky water he stated you have a sewer issue. Once I told him what Steve said. Giovanni said maybe Steve didn’t smell it cause he is an older gentleman and he that his sense of smell wasn’t as good as it used to be. When he called Steve about the issue. Giovanni said Steve told him he never smelled anything out of the ordinary. After speaking with Giovanni he stated that I did have a ground water issue ( a 15-20 ft section of the basement wall had some slight mold ). We agreed to do the job and if their was a sewer pipe issue that he would not be liable for that. After about 2hrs of breaking up the floor he uncovered a 2 inch cast iron pipe was leaking. He called me down to look at the pipe. After seeing water pour out of this pipe. I asked Giovanni that after seeing this broken pipe, the location of the pipe and where my water and smell issues were. That in his professional opinion does he ever think I have a ground water issue. He looked at the pipe looked at the floor and could not even look me in the face. I knew at the point what the answer was. At this point my whole basement was torn up. It was too late to have them stop working. And then when they were at the point to start drilling the weep holes in the concrete block I was downstairs hoping to see the water “ pour “ out like Steve said was going to happen. Well 100+ holes later and 2 holes had minimal water trickle out. Now I knew I should have just told them to leave and not even started the work. $5,400 later and I have not had one ounce of water in my sump pump. I feel like I was taken advantage of. Yes I did have to chance to tell them to leave first thing in the morning when Giovanni told me about what might be under the floor. But once again he reassured me that I did have a ground water issue . One good thing that I can say is that he did jack hammer the floor up around the pipes so I can fix them. I do not recommend this company. If you have the slightest concern that you might have another issue besides ground water. Contact someone else before even thinking about hiring United waterproofing. One more positive is they did a decent job with the actual French drain and sump pump. I just wish I actually needed it.

The technician came within one hour of our phone call. He replaced one of the sump pumps and had a very innovative way to solve our problem, quoted a fair price and advised us that the work would be scheduled as soon as possible.

Had a good experience with United Waterproofing from initial contact to job completion. It started with Steve (sales) reviewing the job and outlining the solution needed to remediate my basement water issues. We scheduled the job for the following month. On the day of the job, Giovanni and his crew showed up on time and completed the work as expected. They installed the pressure relief system around the perimeter of my basement/garage feeding into two sump pumps. Since then we have had some rainy days and we have been dry! Also note that whenever I called Giovanni or Steve with questions, they always got back to me quickly. If you’re having basement water issues I would recommend United Waterproofing without hesitation.

We had been happy with the service before and decided to call United again. They were very prompt in coming to give us an estimate and set a date for the work to be done. The man who came to assess was friendly and explained everything and came up with a solution to our problems with water in the basement that sounded great. When the date came and the workers started to drill, cement started to fall from the ceiling in the basement. They immediately stopped work. It turned out the there was a portion of the basement ceiling that was not stable. They cleaned everything up, and the owner, Giovanni, got involved right away. He came personally to look at the house, and proposed a slightly different solution which was a little more complicated as the situation was a little different than had been originally assessed. We were very happy with the result and the new work was super promptly done, Giovanni came to oversee it all himself, and it seems great so far (we are waiting for a very heavy rainfall to truly see how it goes, but it looks perfect. It just hasn't been fully tested yet :)) What struck me most of all was the sincere care from Giovanni and the fact that he stood by the original estimate, when the work that was actually done was more complicated and likely cost more for them to complete.

They did a great job overall from determining the cause of the water seepage to waterproofing the basement and installing the sump pump along with the drainage system. They were very clean and thorough in their work and were able to fix other issues they identified while installing the sump pump drainage system. A few years later we had a different issue that was unrelated to the installation and they were very quick to respond and again help identify the issue. We are happy overall not just with their work, but also with their customer service and knowledge. I would highly recommend this company for any job that requires waterproofing.

United Waterproofing did an excellent job installing a French drain and two sump pumps in my basement in the spring of 2018. Communication was very easy, and the team that came to my house was punctual, considerate, and left the area very clean. Except for a plumbing leak - unrelated to United Waterproofing's work, but which they came to inspect anyway within the hour! - my basement has been completely dry since then and I couldn't be any happier. I would highly recommend United Waterproofing for any issues related to a wet basement.

Five years ago, with a wet basement problem getting worse each year, we contacted United Waterproofing. They came in and after evaluating our problems, installed drains and sump pumps and sealed cracks. Since then, our basement has remained completely dry and we're thrilled, given how bad the situation was. We just had them come by to check if anything needed maintenance or replacement and everything is working fine. We are completely satisfied with the work they did for us and are happy to recommend them.

He investigated the issue and determined it was an easy DIY job and not something I need to pay a professional like him for. Gave me a shopping list and sent me to Home Depot. Very honest!

These. Guys. Are. The. Best. We had a 3/4 perimeter french drain installed and two unfinished dirt floors paved over with cement. My experience was great - from Steve taking me through the process and discussing options - to Giovanni and his crew getting the work done - they were punctual, courteous, and (boy were they) FAST! Basement immediately started to dry out. I'd say, from what I know, that this company is a bit of a premium, but you get what you pay for - they've got a long-standing presence, so they won't disappear overnight like it seems some companies do. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The job was completed on the date scheduled and within the expected 2 day time frame. The staff were busy the entire time, working all day! They cleaned up the basement as much as could be expected.

I couldn't be happier. Our basement needed major waterproofing with a French Drain and from start to finish, beginning with Steve coming out and giving us a quote and Sammy in the office and Giovanni on site for the work, I am so glad we went with United. Fantastic job, neat as a pin when they were finished and my basement has been "bone dry" every since, and it has done nothing but rain since we've had it done! They finished it all in one day. Very punctual. Arrived before 8 am. Initially, work includes both my basement and garage but after Giovanni looked at the garage, he noticed that there is a foundation issue and recommended that it is best for an Engineer to inspect it first before doing anything. They immediately started working on my basement and completed the work before 4:30 pm. They have covered and secured everything making sure that no debris or dust get into my house. They cleaned up the work area really good and addressed the black mold that have accumulated in the drywall behind the stairs. One of his guys named Niko went out of his way to fix our pavers step after noticing that it was loose. Giovanni walked us through everything that was done and was very patient in answering all our concerns and questions. He even recommend a carpenter to finish the basement and emphasized that we should feel free to contact him directly if there are any issues. Sammy, the customer representative who answers the office phone is always very pleasant to talk to and kept me up to date with everything including potential delay in arrival from the initial estimate, contract signing and reminder of the work a day before. Everyone was very professional. Giovanni and his crew did an excellent job on our basement and all were very polite and respectful. He is very honest and we definitely highly recommend them.

How did it go? ... It went GREAT! Would I recommend them? Absolutely. I've had a leaky basement since I bought the house in 1972. With the rain NJ got in 2018 it became epic. To say the least, we have not a drop of water in the basement getting in now. The people at United Waterproofing were fantastic. They delivered what was promised and then some. I did expect the inside done because that's what they told me they'd do. But not only did they do the work promised, but they also took care of how the downspouts were directed and brought in yards of topsoil to grade the ground around the house so the water would flow away from the foundation not sit along the base of it. United also bailed me out of a jam when the company I hired to replace my indoor oil tank where the biggest water leak was, wasn't able to show up. Giovanni, their main man, found a reliable replacement the day before United was due to do the job. You just can't beat service like that.

Their sale rep came to my home two times, and after contacting several of their references we decided to sign a contract and give a deposit for them to commence work. Point being, this person clearly knew the constraints of our property. We then waited almost two months for the work to happen because that was a 'discount' that was offered to us in return for having our work done according to their schedule. The day of work, the crew showed up and they were already unhappy as we live in lower Bergen County and our homes are all relatively close together. Despite open parking in front of our house, they were not happy about unhitching their trailer, etc. As the crew assessed the job, Giovanni, the foreman, asked where the sump was intended to drain. When I told him, which was what was suggested and discussed with me by HIS SALEMAN and was in my contract, he said the town would not approve it. After alot of back and forth with the salesman in question by phone, the town, and their receptionist (??) Giovanni refused to even begin to offer an alternative to the situation at hand, was repeatedly patronizing to me as a woman, had his crew pack up and they LEFT. And before they left, he said they never should have taken the job because they don't like working in the 'city'.... nice. Why they waited until the day of the work to call the town and clarify constraints on the permit after waiting for TWO MONTHS I am still trying to understand! I have worked with many consultants and contractors as a homeowner and in my professional life. This was the most egregious abuse of a situation by a contractor towards a client that I have encountered in a long time. We contacted United Waterproofing for a solution, one was presented to us, and we signed a contract and paid a deposit for that work to take place. It was a complete waste of my time and I still have a problem in my basement that I now have to find another contractor to complete! The only bright spots are that these guys did not chop up my house and just leave it, and they also dropped off a check in the amount of my deposit the next day that I insisted upon. Since i took the day off for this work to be COMPLETED. Which as anyone knows, taking time off from work to get work done at home is paramount to moving mountains at times. This was one of the most unprofessional experiences I have encountered in a very long time. Beware.

These guys were GREAT! They completed the work quickly and were neat from beginning to end. I agree with previous reviews that you need not look further than these guys. I highly recommend these guys and would not hesitate to use them again. They were clear on the work to be performed and ensured our satisfaction with the job they completed.

By far the best contractor I have ever worked with and I have worked with many. Everything from the beginning was a breeze. I am always skeptical not having someone on the premises while contractors are performing work, but from reading all the prior reviews I gave them a shot. All of the work that was performed was impeccable. They actually left my home better off than before they arrived. Giovanni is very thorough and takes great pride in his work. He was there to make sure everything went smoothly and that everything down to the smallest detail was completed to my satisfaction. He even quoted me a price to put drain pipes in front of the property, completed the work and then charged me less. At the end of the day you get what you pay for. Its hard finding an honest contractor, but these guys definitely convinced me that there are still some decent ones out there. Don't even bother looking for anyone else. Hire these guys and you will definitely not regret it.

Great- efficient, professional, no surprises

Giovanni and his crew came to our home to install a french drain in our basement and crawl space along with new sump pumps in both locations. The promptness, professionalism and thoroughness of the project was outstanding. Giovanni kept me informed of each step in the process and showed me the work in progress. The original set up was a shallow sump dug out which ran constantly and the house always felt damp. Now, the sumps run only as needed, they are quiet and the house now feels considerably dryer. Clearly, Giovanni and his crew knows what they are doing and are proud of their work - as well they should. I highly recommend Giovanni and United Waterproofing.

Giovanni was very professional and helpful. On the first visit, not only he explained all options I had replacing the failing old sump pump, he also fixed the piping on the pump so that I was not in an immediate danger of getting water in the house. For next several months I called and emailed Giovanni with plenty of questions and always had him responded promptly and patiently. No pressure ever. Installation went smoothly. The crew made sure they left the basement clean.
