About a year ago, we had decided to begin an extensive remodel of our townhouse. We didn't really know of any contractors to call in our area, so we did a Google search and found Kurz Renovations. We set a date to have Brian come over and have a look at our projects. We discussed having him renovate our first floor half bathroom first, and if all went well, we said we would have him redo our master bath and upstairs hall bathroom. We purchased all of the material, with the exception of the rough material (which he included). Brian did a beautiful job on the first bathroom - completing the work quickly and cleanly. He had some great ideas which he shared with us, as far as wall color and trim work. He was very respectful of our home and tried to keep the construction mess to a minimum. The end result was that we were so pleased with his work that we immediately asked him to quote us on doing the other two bathrooms.
Brian fit us into his schedule and began the work on the two upstairs bathrooms simultaneously. These bathrooms proved to be a bit more of a challenge, as we had some pieces - including the master bathroom vanity on back order. Brian did as much as he possibly could to keep things moving for us while we waited for the missing pieces to arrive. In our master bathroom, we had Brian do very elaborate Italian tile work, including creating a free-form custom shower pan, which meant moving the drain. He worked with a reliable plumber to do this part and made great suggestions which saved us money and the end result was amazing. Once all of the pieces arrived, Brian made sure they were installed quickly. After installing the special jetted shower unit we purchased, it was discovered that the manufacturer had sent the wrong part. Brian took care of the problem and made sure that the unit was functioning properly.
Once these bathrooms were finished, we had decided to try doing the last bathroom in our basement ourselves, but after doing the demolition, we again decided to call on Brian to complete this last bathroom. Again, he did a great job and finished it quickly. When the work was finished, we discovered that there was a little leak from behind the shower head. Brian came back right away and resolved the problem.
Now that the bathrooms were done, we began to paint and remodel our basement. While we did a fair bit of the work ourselves, we decided again to hire Brian to get the job done for us. He ended up doing an extensive remodel of the back room in our basement, including building new closets, installing, patching and finishing the drywall, painting the areas we had not painted and doing all of the trim work to accent our new flooring. During the process, it was necessary to repair some areas of the sheetrock that we had to open to run some new wires. Brian did a beautiful job with this patchwork, and you cannot tell where the repairs were made.
During all of the work Brian did in our home, he was extremely professional and respectful. Although he had a key to our home, he never just walked in if he knew I was home and always called or texted to let me know he was here. He was not afraid to give us his opinion if he thought of a better way or design for a project. Brain is always very responsive to our requests and if something needs to be adjusted, he will always make the time to swing by and take care of the problem.
In conclusion, I would highly recommend Kurz Renovations if you are considering any kind of remodel in your home. Brian is reliable, trustworthy, reasonably priced and a really nice guy to work with. We are definitely going to have him do any future remodeling we decide to do in our home.
