Chapman Bros. Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning

Installed a brand new boiler and also moved an inactive radiator from the den to the living room and reattached it to the heating system.. If I had been paying closer attention, I would have been able to save some money with a different solution. However, Chapman made a straightforward proposal at what I believe was a very fair price. (FYI, I did not have them install a new chimney liner.) The installation was smooth and clean. They eliminated a hodgepodge of pipes from the old boiler and created a simpler and what looks like a more efficient configuration for the new boiler. The boiler was installed in less than a day and the radiator moved and attached at a later date in about three hours. I have few complaints: For example, it was hard at times to get on their schedule. I plan on using them again for my other plumbing and heating needs.

I found my hot water heater leaking in the morning, and called Chapman Bros, they told me they could have a tech here right around noon. They called me back at 10am and said a tech could be there in an hour. He came installed the new unit took away the old unit and left the basement in good condition. It took him at the most three hours to complete the job remove the old unit and finish the paper work. Very pleased with the tech and his work.

A tech was sent-out to take a look at the situation - I needed to replace the shower hot/cold water diverter. The tech was not knowledgeable and had to call another tech to recommend a path forward and to provide a high-priced quote. I paid them for the visit, but no work was done.

Their pricing was competitive and Tom, one of the owners, was accessible the entire time. When it comes to the quality HVAC / plumbing work, you get what you pay for – a quality job done in tight time frame with a high degree of professionalism.

My parents live in an area that frequently gets high groundwater and sanitary sewer backups, so we contracted Chapman Brothers to install a backflow valve. While they were there I also asked them to replumb some goofy, leaking outflow piping from their sump pump. The owner who quoted us was super-nice, and the price quoted was well less than other vendors. The work was completed a couple of weeks later (thankfully just before another heavy rain event), and was done very well. Unfortunately, this is where things went south. The backflow valve (a Jay R Smith 7150) has a manual gate valve to add an extra level of protection when there is a lot of pressure. Unfortunately the wheel to lower the gate was not included. Multiple calls from myself and my parents over a poeriod of months resulted in a runaround of supposed callbacks that never rang, messages that were never returned, and "we've ordered one" that never materialized. I just had something custom-made by a local metalworker so that we have some kind of mechanism. So the lesson here is that they do really good work, but don't pay them until you have EVERYTHING you were promised.

We are new homeowners and have never had a broiler furnace so when it stopped working we were unsure why. The technician arrived on time and inspected our furnace which was just low on water. He showed us how to refill, which was literally turned a valve for a couple seconds. Then he gave us a bill for ~$150 which was a bit ridiculous.

I called to get an estimate. Receptionist took all of my information and nobody called me back. I guess they don't need the business

I hired Chapman Bros. to re-route the steam pipes in my basement. Prior to remodeling the basement we were looking into having the pipes moved since they went around the parameter of the room, hung low and blocked head space at the bottom of the steps. I had about 4 plumbers come to the home for estimates and while I was trying to find a contract to remodel the basement I had each of them look to see what could be done. Overall there was about 8 different people looking at the pipes. Tom from Chapman Bros. was the only one who could figure out a design without ripping down the walls on the main floors of the home. He took his time to really think about the best solution which wouldn't disrupt the quality of my heat. Tom completed the work in 1.5 days, very neat, professional and easy to work with. In fact, our heat is working better than it did before. I would use him again in the future for any plumbing needs.

He was on time, friendly helpful and honest. He let me know how much it would cost up front and it came in almost exact! It took about an hour to fix as he said it would and it was repaired properly. The price was reasonable and they came out the day I called. I will definitely use them again!

Tom was prompt, professional and did an excellent job of replacing the rusted steam pipe. He called a half hour before coming over as he said he would. Put in a temporary patch so that the house could be heated while he went to pick-up the supplies for a more permanent fix. Once the pipe was replaced, he cleaned-up after himself and was very highly professional during the job. I appreciated his professionalism so much that I have him coming back to perform service on this property as well as couple of other properties. I will be call him back.

Chapman Bros. has successfully kept the plumbing going in this old house many years. Even so, when I made the decision to convert from oil heat to gas heat, I did my due diligence and received quotes from multiple vendors. While not the least expensive, nor the most, I am very glad I made the decision to hire Chapman Bros. for this big job. The office staff, Melissa and Judy, were responsive and helpful throughout this process. And, Tom must be commended for his patience in answering the several lists of questions I submitted prior to my decision. On the day of installation, Tom, Billy and Gary were great. This was one tough job ? up from the basement and through the house (there is no outside basement access) came two oil tanks the size of large refrigerators, the ancient oil burner that was crumbling in place, and all of the massive piping connections. The location of the gas meter made for yet another challenge (sorry, Billy), but these guys just went about doing what had to be done. I did my best to stay out of the way, but of course had to take a look occasionally. All questions were answered and any concerns addressed. In summary, they started on time, continued without a break, and most impressively, the house (basement and upstairs) were incredibly clean when the job was finished. The house has been toasty (and quietly) warm ever since! About 10 days after the installation, a radiator valve failed and the leak ruined a section of newly installed drywall from another project. A tech from Chapman Bros. arrived quickly to stop the leak after my evening distress call, and Tom came the next day to inspect all of the valves. He immediately offered to have the drywall replaced, and that work was completed within a few days of the event ? no hassles. As the saying goes, ?stuff? happens. What is important is how a company responds to a problem, and the resolution of this issue is typical of the fine service I have come to expect from Chapman Bros. Thanks to all for a job well done!

Responded very quickly, actually the first to respond out of 10 Angie's List A-rated providers I contacted. Unfortunately, I didn't move forward with them for a quote because they charge a $59.00 fee to assess the work. I wish they would've disclosed this on their main page as I would not have reached out to them. They will however "deduct" the $59.00 to the total costs if you choose them for the job. My opinion, they probably prefer larger jobs and knew this one just isn't worth it for them. No biggie. Anyway, I couldn't rate them an "A" because I don't think their practice is quite as honest as other members out there. They really should say they charge a fee for quotes up front to avoid the back and forth. UPDATE: After posting my review, Chapman brothers replied and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. As such, I have updated their rating to an "A" because it does mean a lot when the service provider takes the time to address any concerns. In my experience with Angie's List, those service providers who respond are generally those that are better quality.

Service was excellent and they were punctual, and they took no break and they were completed in 5 hours. Toms Swick was professional and honest throughout the whole process. They were very clean and protected all floors.

I had a great experience with chapman brothers. Punctual, professional, pleasant, but most importantly, effective! I had two other plumbers in to snake the drain in our older home, but neither could do it and either made a huge mess or suggested very expensive alternatives. With a newborn at home we greatly appreciated the options Chapman provided and while we have a short term fix, we will look to use Chapman Brothers for all future plumbing needs,

They were quick to come out and provide an estimate however, when we followed up to schedule the work we never got a call back (after calling 3 times). We really liked the guy that did the estimate but ended up having to use someone else two weeks later since we couldn't get them to return our calls.

Original estimate and diagnosis was very professional. Work preformed efficiently and within range of estimate...very professional. As a result hired firm to maintain furnace a later date.

It was fabulous. They were on time, efficiant, trustworthy. I would definatly recommend them for any plumbing needs. The only plumber I plan on ever hiring.

Bill, the co-owner, proved himself to be responsive, dependable, personable and thoroughly professional, a seasoned master plumber who doesn't cut corners and follows through on every detail. He kept true to the work schedule and was always on time to appointments. The quality of the work was outstanding, I couldn't be more satisfied with the finished project. We had other quotes from plumbers that came recommended by friends but found Chapman Brothers on Angie's List and never looked back - this company stands behind its name: responsive, trustworthy and both customer- and safety-focused. His prices were competitive/fair compared with the other 3 quotes we received. Based on the total experience I have/will continue to highly recommend Chapman Brothers Plumbing to family and friends. We will be using them for all future plumbing needs.

I called this morning hoping to get service today. They provided me with service. The serviceman who came, Paolo was professional and a pleasure to deal with. I have used them before, and I will continue to use them again.

Came in for a leaky sink and to check on the old water heater . Chris was courteous and very knowledgable and even walked through the house to make sure the condition of the other sinks, vents, and plumbing. New water heater installed in about 3 hours. Works wonderfully and it's great to have peace of mind. (I didn't know a 23 year old water heater was risky) Don't forget to use the coupon!!

The provider did no work. Plumber came in and after I explained that my bathtub did not drain he said it would be $175 for him to snake it (which I really didn't need a "professional" to tell me) and that the $60 already paid was just to have him arrive. Complete waste of money and my time. Then to top it off, the guy mutters "p****" under his breath when I don't shake his hand. The deal details state the following: Here's the Deal: $59 for a plumbing service call Can be used for any number of plumbing issues, ranging from toilet repair to garbage disposal de-clogging The Real Deal: Tired of hearing your sink drip or the toilet running in the middle of the night? Call the pros at Chapman Brothers and save time, money, and headaches! So, this certainly sounds to me like they will actually do some form of work-- though, I will admit that the name of the deal says "diagnostic" which I did not interpret as "no work done." Before Chapman responds with: "The fact that we are very upfront, clear and honest about this charge is commendable." as they did in a previous review, I am going to say this to Chapman-- you are not upfront and honest. Your deal description is misleading and the fact that it was pointed out to you in a previous review and you still haven't changed it leads me to believe that this is intentional. If your intent is that the $60 is a fee for your technician to visit the site and provide an estimate for work, then look at what other Deal listing use for explaining this, such as: -Members receive a $250 credit toward necessary repairs with purchase of this deal -$79 for inspection of your roof by a roofing specialist and a $100 repair credit The bottom line is-- what was the point of buying this deal when I could have called any plumber and have them come to my house and provide me with an estimate for service? This "deal" equates to "here is an opportunity to pay us our normal rate up front"-- Angie's List should not allow something to be advertised as a "Big Deal" if there is no discounted offer. I think Chapman is being intentionally vague and misleading to get $60 and their foot in the door to charge more.

They were very fast in response to let me know that it was out of the area that provide.

I asked them come out they will charge me $59 just to come out where the other providers come out for free.

When I made the appointment, my boiler wasn't functioning. The previous owner should me what to do. So when the tech arrived, he spent time with me to answer all my questions. As a first time home owner, I needed to know the basics. All questions answered and he went over everything.
