Alpine Chimney And Fireplace

They were incredibly professional and responsive. They went above and beyond to install the remote controlled igniter, having to make several trips to get the right parts, so that I could surprise my wife for her birthday. I would absolutely use them again in the future.

I bought the townhouse in 2013 and did not want to use the gas fireplace until I knew it was cleaned and serviced. The person from Alpine did a good job and I have no complaints. I felt comfortable and safe using the gas fireplace during the 2014/2015 winter season.

BY FAR the most unprofessional experience i've ever had in ANY form of business. The first time he was SCHEDULED I called him several times as I waited for an HOUR, no call, no show. This was for a house I was buying. He calls an hour and a half later and says i'm here come on back. I'll already back at my house. He fakes like his partner was on the roof checking it out. Neighbor tells me he was alone and never got out of the truck. The 2nd time, he arrived and sat in his truck for over 25 minutes talking on his cell phone while I was waiting for him. He finally comes in and has to plop down on the floor because his was out of breath. The walk was only from the driveway. He was all dirty and had no professional equipment like camera or a real flash light. He had this pocket sized penlight. I told him the report was CRITICAL for my housing inspection, he said he would email THAT night. After SEVERAL calls and email I got it over a week later and it looked like something a 1st grader would do for a report. On a scale of 1 - 10 i'd give him a NEGATIVE 500! TOTAL JOKE!! I couldn't even write this review at first because I was so disgusted!

The service itself was fine. He was going to get me an estimate on the door but never got back to me on that. They are thorough with what they did and did a good job.

I called Alpine to come take a look at my gas fireplace. I was having an issue keeping the pilot lit, and it was becoming a problem as the weather became increasingly colder. I chose Alpine because they were local to me and I read very good reviews on Angie's List about them. I received a call back from Bob Jermyn (who I believe is the owner), and he scheduled an appointment for Saturday January 3. Bob showed up to my home on time that day for our scheduled appointment. At that time, Bob took apart my fireplace and identified that the issue was most likely attributable to a bad pilot assembly, which he informed me was most likely old and generally needs to be replaced every 10-15 years. He told me that a new pilot assembly was the cheapest, most likely solution, but that if it was not the pilot assembly, he could at least rule that out. Bob told me that he would order the part, which he estimated would run approximately $230. Having a non-functioning fireplace, and therefore essentially no choice, we told Bob to order the part. He advised that it would probably take approximately two days, and that he would go ahead and order it on Monday morning. Bob assured me he would call by Wednesday to give me an update. The cost for the service call that day was $155. I never heard from Bob at all that week, so I called him on his cell phone on January 12 for an update, but he didn''t answer. His voicemail greeting said to not bother leaving a message because he doesn't check them and that he would see the missed call on his phone. Having not heard from Bob at all, I called him again on his cell phone on January 20, but again, the call went unanswered. I also never received return phone call. On January 26, I called a third time, this time on both his cell number and the number listed on the Angie's List website. I also left a message on both numbers this time, inquiring as to what was taking so long with the part that he claimed would be in almost two weeks prior, inquiring as to why he didn't bother returning either of my prior two phone calls, and asking him to provide me with a status update as soon as possible. I waited a few days, and still had not received a telephone call back. Thinking that he was simply avoiding my number, I called from a different telephone number, and this time Bob picked up. I identified myself and he immediately seemed caught off guard. He claimed that he remembered me, and that he didn't know what was going on with the part, but that he would know "in the next few days." I then asked him why he never bothered to call me back, to which he literally had no response. Instead, he paused and said, I'll call you when the part comes in. It is now February 8 (over 1 month since my initial service appointment), and I have heard nothing from Bob. Time to move on to another service provider. I will never use Bob or Alpine Chimney again, and warn anyone who plans to use them to do so at their own risk. I only gave them a C for price because I thought that $155 was reasonable for the service call they did make, and that included a $25 discount through Angie's List.

It went well there was an extra $45 charge for the rubber seal and it was provided in the summer time in July of 2014. Upon initial visit he was on time, when he had to bring back the glass with a rubber seal he came on a random day with no appt and just showed up even though we had an appointment and he never showed. Fast forward to winter time when we were actually using the fireplace unit and from the get go it had a gas smell to it. I called the service provider of which told me in July that he will be servicing my fireplace if anything needs to be done he will be here to fix the problem. I called him set up an appointment for 1/6/2015 at 2pm. It was 3pm I called him to find out where he is because there was a no call/ no show. I reached him at his number to find that he was "at another job that lasted too long, I can be there in a 1/2 hour". It sounded as though I woke him up and he was at home. I told him that I will not be interested in his services any longer. My gas fireplace is not able to be used to this day.

The company did an excellent job. They were very professional and courteous. They were very clean. I was nervous of using my fireplace prior to service but am more than happy to use it now. They did a great job.

The gentleman was on time and did a good job - left no mess. I asked for quotes on replacing our old system with a more efficient one, and he gave me two choices. My only complaint is they are hard to get ahold of (mailbox is always full), but he still got back to me in a day or two.

Service was excellent. The gentleman explained everything to me as he worked and cleaned the fireplace. Showed me how the remote worked and got it working. My husband was thrilled that now we just press a button and the fireplace goes on and off!!! We will definitely be getting this service yearly!!

Bob was very friendly and knowledgeable. We have had issues with our gas fireplace since it was installed by the builder. There was a very bad odor that kept us from using the fireplace, and it was very drafty too. Bob identified the problem right away. He inspected the fireplace, added some insulation to it and cleaned it. He gave us instructions about what to expect regarding the odor, a description of what different odors mean and told us to call him if the problem persists.

They do not service my area. It said it was for the Allentown area, but when the SP contacted me he said they are actually in NJ.

Bob first came out and met with me to talk about the job itself. He answered all my questions and was very experienced and knowledgable. I certainly would recommend him for services.

Mr. Jermyn is very knowledgeable about his profession. He came out the same day I needed someone to come and give an estimate when I couldn't get anyone else to come. It had been raining a lot and the fireplace had flooded. Although he didn't have a professional appearance he was courteous and very helpful. Due to the rain, the job took longer than expected. One thing that he could have done better was to communicate when he wasn't showing up. I had to call to find out instead, on some days, when it was not raining and I thought he could have come by to continue the work. His son assisted with the work and was very courteous as well and even cleaned the gutter that was near the chimney area. That was very nice of him, at no extra charge. Mr. Jermyn will come back around September to conduct a cleaning!

All went well. Technician was the owner of the company and had years of experience working on gas insert fireplaces. I was very satisfied with the service, and the unit continues to work properly to this day (2+ years).

The work took place over a 3 day period to properly set the forms and allow the concrete to cure. Bob Jermyn and his son worked this job through to the end and were very professional, despite having a lower price than the other bids I received. They correctly delayed the start by a couple of days because of a bad weather forecast. They cleaned up everything after the job and even helped me with advice on another project I was working on. I would not hesitate to call Bob again and in fact I have already arranged for him to install a new gas fireplace. I am a tough critic when it comes to contractors, but Bob gets my stamp of approval.

Our chimney had been partially toppled (about 4-5 rows of bricks were knocked off or knocked askew) by a shade tree's branch in a heavy storm. I called Bob since he was a local provider, and even though I called on a weekend, he came out quickly the next day to look at the damage. He called me back (after making his initial inspection, during which I wasn't home) with an estimate of $830 to repair the chimney, add a stainless steel cap and crown, and cut the tree's branch back so that it wouldn't do any further damage. He told me that wouldn't be doing the work himself; that he's too old for rooftop work anymore, but that he has a long-trusted employee to take care of it. He also warned me that while they always try to maintain the appearance of the chimney, many of the bricks had been knocked off and might have to be replaced. I didn't get any competitive bids, so I don't know how his price compares, but it seemed fair to me. So, I gave him the go-ahead (along with a $100 deposit) and we set a tentative date of March 30, weather permitting. Of course, on March 30 it rained all day. The next day, though it was sunny and Bob's guy was there from mid-morning to mid-afternoon. He replaced and mortared all the bricks, taking the time to scour the yard for all of the errant pieces. It turns out, he was able to find all of them, and it looks to me like they all went back exactly as they were. He also trimmed the tree and installed the cap and crown, and everything looks great. It was a truly painless process, and a welcome resolution to a potentially costly (and dangerous) problem. I'm happy to have found Bob and Alpine, and would gladly contact them again for any related needs in the future. I understand Bob installs and services fireplaces and BBQs as well, although I'll have to wait for our house to stop having costly accidents before I call him for those kinds of luxuries!
