Rocco is highly skilled and completed the job very well. However after he was paid by check on 9/8/2020 , he did not mail me a receipt and he did not submit by email to my management and me the certificate of insurance I requested. He promised to as he called his secretary by phone while in my coop apartment. I have tried to reach out to him by phone and emails requesting paperwork my board requires.

He is a one stop shop, he orchestrated the plumber, electrician, and permits. His workmanship was excellent, from the sheetrock to taping to cabinetry, to tile work, it reminded me of my ancestors who did all the building trades with pride and integrity not normally seen in todays market. The house was an estate, not worked on for over 35 years due to previous owners illness. When I took it over, it was a shambles, everything was untouched from the roofing to the inside, everything needed to be gutted, the sheetrock was actually cardboard, with no insulation, it had mold spots from the condensation, which Rocco explained was because there was no insulation in the walls. He helped to clean out the house, filling dumpsters, and then began systematically re-doing each room, the walls, pergo flooring, insulation, sheetrock, bathroom, kitchen, taping, painting, gutters, new siding, new soffits, and his team of roofers, electricians, and plumbers was excellent, I didn't have to deal with them, the price Rocco gave me at the start was fairly accurate, he kept the subs in line, price wise, and I didn't have to worry about any shenanigans they might try to pull, as I have had bad experiences before with guys who lowball just to get the job, and then tell you halfway into it that things weren't included. Any price changes as we went along were made with my knowledge and permission, so when we upgraded a front door to fiberglass with leaded glass from the original stanley door, I understood that it was a little more money, and I was fine with that. We have become friends since, as he is a very affable person, we only had one minor mis-communication, and that was because of weather delaying the start of roofing. I tend to want things spelled out in great detail, but there is so much room for omissions because I am not a home contractor, and I wouldn't know if a contract was missing something or leaving room for upgrades, but I have to say that Rocco made it easy for me to relax and let him do his job, and also I felt that he could be trusted to watch my back, so his 35+ years of experience could wrangle me the best deals and appliances. For example, he caught a good sale at Lowes in NJ on all of the new appliances, not only did I get a spectacular new kitchen, but also a new LG washer and dryer, AND and a new water heater for under $5000, because he shops smart. I live in westchester, yet he was not afraid to shop around, even if it meant going over to NJ to get me a deal. This savings was passed directly to the bottom line, and left more room for other upgrades and incidentals. I have since brought him in to do another bathroom at my commercial building, with equal satisfaction.
Description of Work: Rocco was great ! He completely gutted and re-installed a bathroom and new kitchen for me at a property I controlled.

We were very happy with the results, and the project ran very smoothly. Rocco was punctual, and made sure that all materials were ordered in a timely fashion so that work never had to stop. The kitchen and bathroom were finished in less than the six week time frame he gave at the outset. Rocco was very easy to work with, and he was also very helpful in helping us pick out appliances, cabinets, etc.
Description of Work: Our kitchen and powder room were gutted and remodeled. All new appliances and cabinets were installed and a wall was replaced by a kitchen island.

It went very well. Rocco knows local suppliers, so it was easy to pick out what we wanted. He contacts and manages all specialists needed. He is conscious of my money and I trust his opinion on what needs to be done. Rocco also remodeled the kitchen in our previous home, a bathroom, and remodeled the backyard with new pavers, new wall, etc. We have worked with Rocco since 2008. My experience with Rocco was much better than with other contractors. Others wanted me to coordinate plumber, electrician, etc. Rocco does all that for you. His work is high quality and increases the value of your home.
Description of Work: We remodeled the basement in an old house we recently purchased. Everything needed to be done. Flooring, walls, insulation, cabinetry, some wiring, new stairwell, new windows installed. The price I noted included materials. I can't recall the breakdown between materials and service.

The guy does terrible work. He is argumentative. He causes trouble in the buildings. He told me I was too picky when I told him the ceiling had too many waves in it. The tiles he put on my floor were each 38 bucks. I drew the pattern on the floor and gave him a hand drawing. I came home on Friday night and the floor was absolutely wrong. I had to get somebody else after I fired him to come in and cut tiles out. Still the middle tiles are not level. I told him the tiles are ceramic and they are tight joints and it should be no more than a quarter inch mortar joint. I got special mortar grout. He told me that I didn't know what I was talking about. That is what the tile store told me and they told me quarter to an eight inch joint. The tiles are not level. They are not sitting on a mortar bed. It was disgusting. Now I have to have another contractor come and lay it in. Every time you are standing in the kitchen without any shoes on, you can physically feel the un-levelness of the tile joints which are supposed to be butted right into each other. When you get a special mortar that is supposed to fit into eight inch joints, you are supposed to cut eight inch joints. You can literally catch your foot on the lip between these tiles. That was just the tip of the iceberg. Even the way he did the ceiling. He just ripped up the drywall and put plaster over it. I have never seen anything like it. He put in the kitchen sink. The counters were professionally installed. He had nothing to do with it. He bolted in the sink. Last week I opened up the sink. Underneath the sink was soaking wet. The brand new cabinets are starting to warp. He never tightened the collar that connects the drain pipe to the gasket. It slid off the fitting, slid down around the pipe and the whole underside of my sink was soaked. I would say not to hire him. He was a clown. He was a hack. My supers, the day guys, offered him the option to throw away some drywall in the dumpster and requested him to place it in black bags. He just took buckets of drywall and dumped them into the dumpster and tracked stuff all over the place. He actually made a racial slur against my super. When the time came to get him out of the house, I asked my super to come up and back me when I was going to fire him. He told me to call the police and get him out with the police. He said he didn't want him around in the building. I had to call the police to get him out of the house because everybody else was so scared of him. I would never use them again. I would have trouble staying in the same room with them.
