cabinet refacing
 + -1 moreWork never happened. Their lack of professionalism scared me off.
Description of Work: They canceled two appointments for an estimate; one of them just 10 minutes before they were supposed to show up. Then the guy on the phone got annoyed when I didn't want to reschedule. Lame.

Description of Work: Home Depot was to deliver and install a Maytag washing machine today. Originally it was scheduled for delivery from 8:00am to 12:00PM. It was later changed to 4:00pm to 8:00pm. At 6:30pm they arrived, and then proceeded to move my current machine. The installer then stated that he could not proceed with the installation as the hose was located in an ajacent room and suggested that I call a plumber. This is the second problem that I have had with this Home Depot location and their delivery/installation service. Two years ago I purchased a GE washer from them and when they went to install it told me the same thing. I then complained to the Home Depot manager and the next day they sent a supervisor to the house who completed the installation. Unfortunately the motor on the GE unit stopped working and it was more economical to replace the entire unit. After the installer left I called Home Depot but this time no one offered to help resolve the problem. I then told them to cancel the purchase but they said that they had to confirm with the service installer that they actually had possesion of the unit, obviously doubting my word. My complaint can be summarized as follows: Don't advertise free installation when you can not, or will not complete the job. If there are limitations on service/installation say it up front prior to the sale. Don't send workers late in the day when they are tired and want to go home when faced with any excuse or reason.

cabinet refacing
 + -1 moreI thought of refacing an outdated 8X10 galley kitchen since I had been told it is much cheaper than remodeling. I called home depot in addition to two other contractors for an estimate. The representative showed up promptly on the assigned date. After measuring everything, he said that just the cost of changing the cabinet doors and drawer fronts along with the cabinet and drawer knobs, with discounts, would be about $9,000. Without discounts, they quoted a much higher price for the same work. One of the things they gave a discount for (which is reflected in the $9000 price) is signing them up then and there, which I was not prepared to do. As it happened, I also got a quote for a gut remodel of the kitchen, and that turned out to be far more cost-effective than the home depot price for just refacing. The full remodel was a few thousand dollars more than the home-depot price for refacing, but hey, it was for a full remodel, not just a bare-bones refacing job. Not recommended.

cabinet refacing
 + -1 moreThe Home Depot Home Services sales rep came to our and was excellent. He explained everything in detail. Next the planner came in for the measurements which was completed in about one hour. We were told that the normal lead time is 24 days, but the fabrication of the doors was complete in 2 weeks. By the end of the third weeks since the sales rep visited us, we had our kitchen re-faced. I am very happy with the results because the cabinets look great. I do however have concerns about the longevity for laminated cabinets, but for 5 years Home Depot has an unlimited guarantee.
Description of Work: The existing cabinets were refaced with with a laminate material. The installer first removed all the cabinet doors and drawers, and the broken lazy susan. He then removed the cabinet above the fridge and built a new one. He also built all new drawers for the kitchen (a total of four). He also made many repairs to the cabinets as he saw problems (he also informed me my microwave over my stove was installed improperly). He sanded the surfaces of all the cabinets, then laminated all of the surfaces. He then installed the new lazy susan and all the doors and drawers with the new hardware. He completed all of this 2 days!

 + -1 moreTHE EMPLOYEE THAT CAME OUT TO DO SOME PRELIMINARY WORK AND GIVE US AN ESTIMATE NEVER GOT BACK IN TOUCH WITH US. WE HAVE TRIED CALLING THEM BACK, BUT THEY STILL HAVE NOT COME BACK TO OUR HOME TO FINISH THE JOB.

 + -1 moreWE WERE VERY PLEASED WITH THE WORK THAT HOME DEPOT DID IN OUR HOME. THEY DID NOT LEAVE BEHIND ANY GARBAGE FOR US TO CLEAN UP AFTER THE JOB. WE WOULD DEFINITELY USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN.
