From beginning to end the process was easy and from the sales person Brandon through to the worker crew they were extremely professional and explained everything. The company sends a knowledge book out before they even come in order to allow the homeowner to educate themselves. The book was of very high quality and must cost the company a lot, which shows how they care about getting your business and doing a great job. As for the work, it was exactly as explained. My crawl space was in very bad condition and the house smelled because of it. Their was a moisture issue, and additionally mold, rotted wood, and over 70% of the insulation was on the dirt floor of the crawl space. The house over the winter was freezing because of this, as no heat would stay and the floors were ice cold. I knew this was an issue when I bought the house, but did get the home for cheaper knowing I'd pay later. Although the space was much worse then originally thought, and I don't think it would have been much longer before termites and rotted wood would have taken more money to fix. These guys did a great job, and although others may offer for a little cheaper, well you get what you pay for. The entire crawl space system runs to keep it dry, the water from the dehumidifier is sent to the sump pump and then out to the drainage system. You get what you pay for, and I highly suggest these guys.
Description of Work: The following was performed by the provider. First the inspection of the crawl space and outside house area. Second, a price quote was provided, which included removal of old insulation that fell from the joists underneath the house, treatment of mold, re-leveling of the dirt ground, adding of heavy plastic for barrier, add insulation to the walls of the crawl space, high quality plastic added all around, door in front added to remove the old wood door which is now insulated, addition of sub-pump hole and adding of the sump-pump unit and de-humidifier, breakup of concrete to add a drainage line out away from house quite a distance, and then place back the concrete. Also adding of a super jack and an iron beam to take over for an area of rotted wood. Workers arrived, took about 2 days to complete (ahead of schedule as they originally were to run into part of a 3rd day). This was a major job as the crawl space was in really bad shape with significant water damage.

[Member Name Removed], Thank you for taking the time for the great review, we appreciate it! I will certainly let Damian know how much you appreciated his hard work. Thank you again Quality 1st Basement Systems Team!
The presentation at the design stage was excellent. The basement was inspected, a design plan was drawn up and the products that would be used were discussed. I received a contract with the system features listed with a job detail plan illustrated. We agreed on the price and gave the designer a deposit of 20%. The initial design was done on 3/16/16 and the work was scheduled foe 3/21/16. The work crew arrived about 15 minutes early and immediately started the installation which was completed in about three hours. The crew removed excavated concrete and dirt in buckets and removed them when they left. A sump pump with a battery backup was installed with a drainage trench along the inside wall in the back of the house. A concrete covering was applied on the trench and around the pump. A discharge line was installed that ran out to our back yard. When the job was completed I was shown the results of the work and an explanation of the system along with a review of the warranty and the services the warranty included. The services included yearly inspections of the system. The basement was left clean after the job was completed. From the initial design to the installation and clean up I was completely satisfied.
Description of Work: Design specialist Brandon B. came to the house to inspect the basement. Then he designed a system that would solve our problem. His plan made sense, so we accepted it along with the price he quoted. Work was scheduled for 3/21/16 and the work crew arrived on time and completed the installation as designed.

Quality 1st Basement Systems has saved us a few times already! After flooding terribly in Tropical Storm Irene and then catastrophically in Hurricane Sandy, we finally hired a professional basement company to install their triple safe pump with battery back up. And we have no regrets. Since the pump was installed we were saved 3x already as the pump kept our ground floor dry! Their service and follow through are professional and timely. They will follow up with you for the annual pump maintenance check to help you make certain you don't forget and you keep your pumps in working order. The annual maintenance check is not expensive (under $200) and worth every penny when we see the water in our crawl space being kept below our floorboards by the pumps working.

This morning, as scheduled, Damian arrived promptly as promised, to inspect, flood test, clean and maintain our pumping and air- purifying systems. After Damian had spent approximately two hours making sure everything was operating efficiently and to the proper specifications, he asked if I had any questions or issues of concern that he could address for me. I had none, but appreciate dealing with a professional, polite, technician like Damian. I would not hesitate to ask him back when service on my equipment is needed. Thank you Quality First Basement Systems. We would highly recommend you to all of our friends and family.

It went excellent. The supervisor Shachon and his two technicians, Damian and Randy were courteous and walked me through the entire process. I was unaware that a pump I had in my system was running sluggish and that the battery on my backup pump was old and not holding a proper charge. They replaced everything and cleaned up as if they were never even here. I would recommend Shachon and these two technicians to anyone looking to have their system serviced and would highly recommend Quality 1st to anyone looking to have waterproofing work done to their basement.

The service Technician Jhon Tenorio performed the a/service for me and it was a pleasant experience. I will let my friends and family know about the amazing experience Jhon provided I'm glad Quality 1st basement systems has such a great asset (J.T) 5 stars all the way.
These guys cost a bit more, but I'm very happy with the quality of the products & the installation. We got a crawl space encapsulation & the "Triple Pump" sump pump. The crawl space is dry & clean. The sump pump is doing what it should. I think you get what you pay for, so its good to go with a company with their level of experience.
Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate it very much!

The work was done in 1 day and the crawlspace looks beautiful and clean; However, my home does not feel any warmer. For approximately $11,000 I expected much more. The floors are very cold, especially the tiles at night. The price definitely was not worth the work. I am very disappointed. I called customer service for assistance and I am still waiting to hear from a customer service representative.

Response from Quality 1st Basement Systems
Ms. [Member name], Thank you for your feedback. We reached out to you today regarding our recent visit to your home and the problem you are experiencing and hope to speak with you again soon. Thank you for taking the time to meet with Sha Chon, one of our System Design Technicians. He was able to measure the temperature of your crawl space with his thermal camera and all readings were between 50 – 70 degrees. This is a great temperature for the crawl space, especially considering the temperature outside has been below freezing. What we did notice upon our inspection upstairs, was that the temperature near your doors was very cold. It could be worth investigating if these drafts are the actual source of cold air. Please give us a call at your earliest convenience so we can further discuss and help you in any way that we can. Thank you, Quality 1st Basement Systems
Believing the reviews on angies list i decided to go to with quality 1st. Their price was more expensive than the other companies that i received estimates from. I had to wait a while for them to actually do the job. So after they did the work, i had to call them back because they left a huge mess and did not put anything back where it originally was. They came back and did a mediocre job of cleaning up (strike 1). I let that slide and just finished picking up the mess. So fast forward, i realized that my floors were beginning to sag. So i decided to call in a structural engineer to do an inspection and let me know what was the issue. He wrote in his report and told me verbally that the drain was improperly installed and whatever discharge was going right back toward the foundation and a repetitive cycle occurs and it is causing the floors to sag and the house to settle over an inch and a half. I immediately call Nick from quality 1st and explain that they need to remedy the situation. After going back and forth and having Nick come to my house and look at everything he then refused to unless i paid extra money put of my pocket on top of the job that I wanted them to do (strike 2). So i decided not to use them for a future job that i needed done. Last month the department of buildings comes to my home and issues me a summons because the work that Quality 1st did was not permitted (no permit filed or requested). I called them again and question them about the drawings and permit being filed. They reply to me that the job did not include a permit. How can you do work in NY without a permit being filed??? I told them that all work needs a permit for the city and that their drawings must have not been from a real architect because the work they did was not done to code and they need to remedy the situation. I gave them a copy of the ticket, but have not heard back from them since. I called several times and I always get the response that a supervisor will contact me back. Still haven't received any calls from them. I think it is time to take them to court to resolve this matter and have them repair the damage to my floors. If they would just remedy the problem I wouldn't have put such a bad review today. Update: After weeks of no contact with the company, they finally call me and want to use their master plumber to remedy the issue. After 5 weeks of fighting back and forth, with them trying to make me pay for the remedy, which I refused, they kept blaming the plumber for not coming and fixing the problem. They always used the excuse that he is extremely busy. It's been months already and they have never called me back or fixed the issue. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS YOUR MONEY AND WILL DO NOTHING TO REMEDY A SITUATION. THEY DO NOT DO PERMITTED WORK AND THEY'RE WORK IS TOTALLY ILLEGAL AS PER THE STATE OF NY DEPT OF BUILDINGS. Good thing I am a lawyer and however long they try to stretch this will not have a financial effect on me. Get ready for litigation Quality 1st or just reimburse me for the work that another company did to remedy the situation (yes I eventually called another company and paid out of pocket to fix the horrible work this company did).

Truly professional from the initial consultation/estimate with Ken Peare through the final completion of the project. The Foreman Jonathan Neira and his crew were hard working, polite and respectful from beginning to end. Jonathan and the crew went above and beyond to make sure the job was done correctly and in a timely manner. I believe Jonathan was honest with me in suggesting some necessary additional work after the debris removal in the crawl space uncovered some more issues. Jonathan consistently checked the inside of the house in tandem with the work being done under the house to make sure the Smart Jacks were working as expected. The entire office staff, Ken, Jonathan, and the crew were great to work with and made this somewhat stressful project a very positive experience. I highly recommend Quality 1st Basement!
Description of Work: Installed Clean Space Encapsulation System and Smart Jacks in the crawl space of my 83 year old house.
On 2/17/15, Joseph from Quality 1st came to our home, explained the system and gave us an estimate to install drains and pump system ?the cost was on par with the other estimates we received. We chose to go with Quality 1st because we were looking for an all-in basement waterproofing company - we plan to eventually finish the basement. The work was scheduled for 3/25/15 ? Victor and his crew arrived on-time and completed the installation in a professional manner. On 3/26/15, I e-mailed Joseph to tell him that the discharge pipe was not draining properly ? the line was full of water. On 3/26/15, Joe forwarded my e-mail to Juan, Production Manager, asking him to contact me and explain ?water saturation.? Neither Joseph nor Juan came to see the discharge line before determining that the cause was ?water saturation.? On 3/30/15, I again e-mailed Joseph, because I did not hear back from Juan (or anyone from Quality 1st), and explained that I do, in fact, understand ?water saturation,? and it is not the reason for the problems with the discharge line. Rather, the discharge line did not drain properly because it was installed into the backside of a high point in my yard. This was immediately apparent to Victor when he returned to my home on 4/1/15. Victor wrote an estimate to lengthen the discharge line, running it to the street ? it would cost me more to have my newly installed sump pump drain properly. The price was high for 30 feet of PVC, but we really had no other choice. On 4/3/15, Quality 1st charged my credit card the full amount of the estimate, though the work was not to be done until the following week. The work was completed on 4/8/15, and Juan offered me a free annual service for 2016. On 4/28/15, I had a plumber at my home to determine the cause of a strong odor in the basement. One of the drainpipes was heavily clogged - the odor stemmed from the fact that the clogged pipe had been cracked and was emptying directly into the new drain system. We also found a second cracked pipe near the main sewer line. Both pipes were cracked just below the slab and it?s clear that they were hit with something. We never had issues with water or odor in these areas of the basement. On 5/7/15, I called Juan to discuss the cracked pipes, and told him what the plumber found. Juan told me (i) they didn?t do it ? if they did, the damage would certainly be worse; and (ii) they are not responsible for ?hidden? pipes. According to Juan, ?hidden? means any portion of pipe that is below the slab, regardless of whether it is obvious that a pipe is there (as in this case). Juan did offer to send someone over to pull up the newly laid concrete so the plumber could repair the pipes. He thought this would save me money. I hung up on him, and am reviewing my contract.

To start with the scheduling, it was very easy and they quickly found a time that was convenient for me. They sent out an information packet in advance and the rep (Collin) called and confirmed the day prior and also when he was on his way. We had a few issues we wanted looked out, cracks at the windows and also so peeling of previously applied drylock. the good news was that there were no major issues that need to be addressed. I was pleased that they didnt try to sell me anything we didn't need. I feel this is an ethical company and if I have problems in the future they will be who I will call.
Description of Work: Had the compnay come out to look at a few issues in the basement and to provide an estimate.
We received several drafts of proposals, which were changed to our satisfaction prior to any payment or work. Workers were punctual. The work was very loud, but this was as expected. The house was sealed to mitigate dust exactly as specified in the contract. Overall, we're very pleased with the work. Cosmetically, we'd have liked their proprietary system to be a little more flush with the wall. The system's performance has met all expectations. The combination of the 360-degree protection on the interior, combined with the drainpipe alterations that shed water away from the house, have completely eliminated basement water seepage. I am also pleased that the warranty can be transferred to the next homeowner. We have had the system in place for one year -- it has withstood heavy sustained rain and melting snow.
Description of Work: 360-degree basement drainage, proprietary interior French-drain alternative. Relocated sump pump to lowest corner of basement. Protective ring & drain around water heater plumbing. Replaced windows in basement without altering structure. Altered drainpipes from sump & roof to draw water away from house.
We had small water problems during heavy storms and wanted to waterproof our basement prior to finishing it. We had several companies out to give us estimates for a french drain and sump pump. Quality 1st Basement System was the highest estimate of the three we received. The estimates were all within a $1,000 of each other and I did like the idea of Quality 1st's flat drain systems as opposed to the other two who used the round corrugated tubing. Our salesman, Kenny, seemed very knowledgeable about his product. Aside from the drain system itself, I chose Quality 1st Basement Systems because of their warranty. I didn't dig out my paperwork, but I believe it was 30 years or maybe even lifetime and it was also transferable if I ever decided to sell my house. Our salesman did his best to try and sell us on every product Quality 1st has to offer (dehumidifiers, basement finishing products, etc) . We were pretty adamant about just wanting the drain and sump pump. After much discussion we did decide to add three window wells. Our old wells were simply a sheet metal frame and filled with gravel/dirt. I had purchased the thin plastic covers at Home Depot that needed to be replaced every couple of years due to cracking from the elements. Kenny sold us on these white plastic sealed window wells. He informed us that the white color would reflect more light into our basement as opposed to the old gravel/metal ones. He also told us they are sealed at the top and no dirt, leaves, water or any other debris would get in them. They too were "allegedly" warranted except for any physical damage caused by unforeseen events. We opted to include these with our French drain and sump pump. The approximate cost was about $10,000 for everything. The crew that came to do the work were very pleasant. I believe the foreman's name was Juan and they worked from the minute they arrived until the job was completed. Juan explained what the process was and I was up and down the stairs several times to check there progress throughout the day. All of the work was completed in one day. They did a fabulous job keeping the dust to a minimum. When they left, you would never have known they sawed and chipped out so much concrete. When they were done I looked at the concrete that they finished off the drain with. It looked cheap and a different color than the rest of the concrete floor. I asked if it would harden to look like the rest of the basement floor when it dried. Juan assured me it would. I checked on it the next day after the concrete dried. It still looked like a cheap concrete patch job. I planned on finishing my basement in the future so I really didn't care what it looked like as long as it did the job. Several weeks later I noticed small cracks in the concrete. They were small hairline cracks, but they were all over the perimeter of the basement where they patched the floor after putting in the drain. I called Quality 1st Basement to complain about the cracks and I was told that every basement is different and the cracks are common and they would not get any worse. On a side not, my neighbor had her basement waterproofed approx. 8 years ago by a different company and has had no cracks and the concrete looks like it was never cut. I wasn't happy about it, but knowing I planned on putting carpet over them in the future made it not seem so bad. I was also instructed that if I decided to finish my basement, I was not under any circumstances to put nails in the new concrete. I was told it would void my warranty. When my contractor farmed out my basement he had to use liquid nails (which is less sturdy) as to not void my warranty. When the basement was almost complete and I priced out carpet, I informed the carpet stores that I can't put tack strips down because it will void my warranty. They said that was ridiculous and never heard of that before. They agreed to used liquid nails when installing my carpet. I've only had the carpet in for 2 months now, so I don't know how the tack strips will hold up in the long run. My next contact with Quality 1st Basement, was two weeks ago. I had had some friend over a couple weeks ago and one of my friends pointed out that one of my window wells was filled with several inches of water. I called to request a service call because the wells were supposed to be sealed and debris/water proof. The water has been in there approximately a month that I know of, maybe longer. It has turned a greenish color. I suppose the sunlight shining through the clear plastic top for several weeks has caused the water to form algae. When I called and spoke to Quality 1st they told me they would go through their schedule and call me back to let me know when a technician could come look at my problem. I requested a morning appointment because I work in the afternoons. I received a call back several hours later and was told someone would be out in a 2 weeks. They told me it will be between 1-4 pm. I asked if they could find me an appointment in the morning because of my work schedule and they told me they could it would just be in 4 weeks instead of 2. Right before I got off the phone I was told if the technician came to my house and there was no problem with the window well I would be charged $109 for a service call. I explained the situation, the warranty and said there obviously is a problem with the product because there is water in it. The woman I was speaking to put me on hold and I was transferred to another person. This guy asked me if I had drains in my window wells. I asked why would I need drains if they are water proof? He said I should probably get drains installed in the wells to keep water out of them. I told him I was told by my salesman that they are sealed and water/debris proof. I also said the whole system is supposed to have a full warranty. He didn't offer any solution. He told me that he would speak to my salesman and have him get back to me. I gave these guys $10,000 for 1 days work. The system has not let any water in my basement since it's been installed. I am thankful for that. I think their customer service is atrocious. How much time would it take for a technician to come to my house look at the window well, see if it has a crack or some other defect that has let water get/stay inside of it. Maybe an hour?? Yet they want to charge me $109? I can only imagine what kind of problems I will have if I ever get water in my basement and I have to have it refinished. I am sure they will not want to honor their warranty. Its been over two weeks now and I still haven't heard back from anyone from the company. UPDATE: I received a phone call from the production manage, Juan. He wanted to know more about my bad experience with Quality 1st basement. I explained to him my disappointment with my experience. We talked in depth about my problems and possible solutions to those problems. Juan informed me that he would have a crew at my house 1st thing in the morning to look at my basement/window wells. He suggested possibly installing drains that would alleviate the water problem with my "sun houses" window wells and possibly re-cementing any of the areas that may have cracks. I accepted his offer and he assured me that the crew would be there no later than 9:30 am. At approximately 9:15 am the next morning I received a text message from the crew foreman informing me that he would be at my house in 15 minutes. The crew was right on time. I spoke with the foreman, also named Juan, who wanted to know a little bit more about my problems with the window wells/basement. I told Juan that I was offered free drains for the "sun houses" which would drain into my existing system/sump. While I appreciated the offer, I explained to him that I didn't want to install the drains and introduce any water to my basement. Juan agreed. He told me that these "sun houses" are a great product and while they are not 100% completely waterproof, they pretty much keep just about all debris and water out. He told me that he would remove the lids, inspect, clean and re-seal all the "sun houses". The crew performed the work in a short amount of time. Juan also wanted to look at the cracks in the cement in my basement. I informed him that 75% of the basement is not finished and hidden from sight. He looked at the unfinished part and inspected the cracks. Juan stated that those hairline cracks are common in most houses after installing a drain because the cement in on about 2-3 inches think above the drain. He said that as the house moves the thinner concrete can develop small cracks. I told him I wasn't interested in having them re-cement my basement, I just wanted to be assured that if the hairline cracks do become a problem at a later date they will be fixed under my warranty. He assured me that they would. Prior to leaving Juan gave me his card and told me to call him if the "sun house" develop the same problem again. He again stated that they are a great product and he has rarely seen water get in them. I was satisfied with the outcome. I received a call back from the production manager later that day but I unfortunately missed the call. All I wanted in the beginning was to have the window well "sun houses" inspected and fixed and reassured that my warranty would cover this type of stuff. Maybe the woman I spoke with from customer service was having a bad day when I called. I was very satisfied with the outcome. All three "sun houses" (not just the one with water in it) were opened, cleaned and re-sealed. Juan also inspected the cracks and tested my sump pump for me. I was very satisfied with the drain system and have not experienced any water in my basement since installation last year.
Description of Work: Installed a French drain, sump pump with battery backup & installed three (3) window wells. (05/2014) A crew was sent to open. inspect, clean and re-seal my window wells/"sun house". They also inspected some hair line cracks and tested my sump pump. (05/2015)

They came out in 2007. I had a few companies come out. These people were very thorough and professional as compared to others. The price was fair. They answered my all questions, and didn't try to oversell me.
Description of Work: They waterproofed my basement. They put in a sump pump and french drain.

We decided to use Quality 1st, after 3 other estimates from other Basement Contractors-- they were also referred to us by two other homeowners, that were very happy with the work that was done for their waterproofing solutions. Not many basement waterproofing contractors work in a crawl space.. be sure to ask... but Quality 1st definitely does!! We met with the sales representative, who spent time explaining and showing videos of how the system would work when installed. We decided to use this company for several reasons: they have been in business over 20 years, their reviews here were stellar, the price was very reasonable considering the work to be done. Also, the warranty is transferable to a next owner if we happen to sell our home. The company will also service the system Once or Twice a year, depending on your need. We had the Triple Safe Sump Pump system installed on 4/1/0/15. The crew showed up on time, about 9:20am and worked through the day, and were done around 4:30pm. It was a team of 3, and one is a Foreman. The Foreman even moved the actual pump to a better location based on the pitch of the crawl space, as opposed to the original plan set-up by the sales rep. We also thought that the location was a better choice as well... since the pump would be in the location where the water gathers the most. The sales rep did say it was a 1 day job, and it was. They were very neat, organized, and laid down their own tarps to walk through our home. *Note: definitely close heating/ac systems while they are working, it helps to minimize dust spreading through the vents. They installed a vapor barrier, jack hammered 6 inches into the ground of our crawl space to install the trench guard system.. and the concrete poured over the area was done evenly and neatly. Other than the jackhammer sound and seeing them move in and out of the basement with debris, the crew was quiet and focused on the task. We had previously been dealing with cracks in foundation and a foundation that was below grade level... so that meant lots of water when we had terrible rains or the large amount of snow melt that occurred this winter. After a 3rd flooding in 12 years, we were tired of dealing with the water issues-- mainly the constant use of shop vacs and removing gallons of water on our own. I will update this review when the system is first needed to work.. but as of now-- I would highly recommend this company for your basement waterproofing/water management.

They encapsulated and insulated with Silverglow the crawl space under kitchen and laundry room. The temperatures were below freezing even when it was not that cold. Experience frozen pipes under both areas. The have done a great job in about 4 hours. Wilver Cardoza and his team were very professional. I now have an additional storage space that is compeltely sealed from the elements. The price was reasonable except the ever-last door that is built onsite. they cut a piece of material (looks like injected silicon or very hard plastic or something like that to cover the access). The door and the instalation costs about 30% o the entire job so I thought it was pricy seeing the way it looks. Overall, i highly recommend this company to do your crawl space.

They were honest because they told us that they weren't necessarily the least expensive but their work is guaranteed and they'll transfer the warranty if we ever sell the house to the future owner. They told us that we can probably get it done for cheaper but certainly not the best quality of work and we appreciated that. They are in the medium range when it comes to prices but the service and quality is above and beyond. They were excellent.
Description of Work: We had a couple of things done with Quality 1st Basement Systems. We had some basement work done and we also had the gutters extended.
