This is a terrible company. Do yourself a favor and don't hire these peoples (Jeff, Bobs, Juan). They are liars, cheats, play dirty, and deal in bad faith. They are actors and act sweet, but they actively work on screwing you if profits are in danger of not being realized. Their workers are all Hispanic immigrants, while the management is all white. The workers are hard working and are not at fault. I believe the company is exploiting these guys, to cut costs and maximize profits. They will get an improper work permit if they believe it will serve their interests in getting work. They are involved in very heavy marketing. If you decide to try to use them even after reading the reviews, you need to protect yourself. 1. Any important questions you have get their answers in writing. If they don't answer your questions, don't hire them. Keep for your records in case you may later need them in court. 2. If any structures to be installed extend into another party's property, no matter how small or if under ground, check with that property owner because their permission is required for the work, as it extends into their property. 3. Prepare to pay double because there will be additional costs. Q1stBS gives you a teaser rate and tells you what additional costs will be, but will make the additional costs look not too bad and unlikely to happen, but will happen and will cost a lot. 4. Hire an engineer for yourself to get a second opinion concerning the project. This engineer may find reason not to hire these guys or if the work is not the right job. 5. Its is in your best interest to hire an attorney specializing in construction to review the contract. Be careful how you sign the contract if you are an officer in a corporation. 6. If Q1stBS recommends you to hire certain individuals for some certain reason, look for someone else to hire. 7. If you hire Q1stBS, demand and get a copy of their liability insurance indicating you and any other property owner listed as additional insured and have an insurance broker review it, before the start of any work. 8. Don't pay Q1stBS any due balance until all work is completed.

It pays to shop around... I asked them for a quote to pour a concrete slab for a two car garage I'm building. Their quote was almost TRIPLE what I was quoted for the same work by a reputable mason! Not to mention it took them 3 weeks just to come out to look at the job! 3 weeks! How they are so busy with those prices is beyond me.

They were very good, they came out and solved my problem and I haven;t any issues since. They were on time and it was even pouring rain that day. Very good all around, I can't complain. They did what they were supposed to, and it was even more extensive than what we originally thought, and they were fairly priced as well.

The sense that I got from them is that they have seen it all and can solve it all. They have a lot of experience and can remedy any problem they come across. They are very responsive and friendly, I had a bad situation and they were able to take care of it quickly and efficiently, and were very easy to work with as well.

They are very professional. Only hiccup was that the radon fan should have been turned off prior to the work and it was not so debris got into the fan and it had to be replaced. Otherwise they were very easy to deal with and did great quality work.

Quality 1st basement was outstanding! Very professional no question about it. They had our job done in a day. Jay Hugee our salesmen was very knowledgeable, likable, and worked with us through every step of the process. He came to our house before and after the job and made sure everything was acceptable to my wife and I. Juan our job foreman was also very professional and explained the project well to us.

I will not do it since this is something they tell you it is done at not cost when they sell you the product and then unexpectedly 3 years later you get a call asking you to schedule an appointment. Only when you ask they advise there is a fee. This is definitely a good business practice.
Description of Work: About 3 years after the work was completed, they contacted me to come and check there are no cracks and the overall condition of the work they have done but the problem is they charge you a pretty penny just to come see the space.

[Member Name Removed], Thank you for the feedback, we will certainly take a look at how we contact customers for our annual maintenance program. We do recommend customers have an annual inspection of the work we performed for them, however it is entirely up to you the homeowner. We do full structural inspections as well as outside inspections to help you prevent any future problems. We do charge for this service. Because your home does not have a sump pump we do not contact you annually because a home without a sump can be inspected a little less frequently. We contact you every 2-3 years typically. A customer with a sump pump we do highly recommend this maintenance be done annually because we clean and inspect the pump which is a vital component to a waterproofing system. Again we thank you for the feedback and will look at our maintenance program to see if we can better relay the message or be more clear on what we do and why its important. If you should need us in the future please feel free to contact us at any time. Thank you Q1 Team

Update as of 4/12/18: These guys are a bunch of liars and cheats. They had a great deal of trouble with the building department and fabricated a story. They said they can't work here because of fighting between me and my neighbors. I do not have any problems with my neighbors. They refunded the money to the people next door to me, does that mean they have a lot of trouble with their neighbors. The whole problem was that Quality 1st Basements were fighting with the building department. They were using substandard material and refused to follow the building codes. They violated the contract because they did not get a permit. The only permit they got was cancelled because they didn't follow the building rules.
Description of Work: CAUTION BEWARE Company was cited under articles 28-104.2.10 and 28-105.10.1 for submitting false and fraudulent documents and breaking N.Y.C. Building Laws.Indeed, the engineer was called down for a hearing in which he was reprimanded for using substandard material.Indeed, both the engineer and manager were separately fined heavily Engineer was asked over and over to use authorized material The manager broke the contract and walked off the job. Nobody was willing to continue a job that was taken on by another contractor, the manager.I was left facing heavy fines and helpless to do anything about it. I complained to Consumer Affairs and the manager submitted a strange, weird response saying I wouldn't allow him to do the job because it wasn't legal. He claimed I wanted to hire a contract killer to kill my neighbor. He returned the money I gave him but left me with thousands of dollars of damage and nowhere to go.This guy needs help a.s.a.p.

Mr. [Member Name Removed], Our company was hired to make a repair for you. The work was signed off on by a licensed engineer. The said fines and penalties you are referencing for breaking NYC building laws was actually a paper work error on the engineers part, which the engineer did report to the NYC building department and the engineers did correct on their time and at their expense. The engineer nor our company used inferior materials. The project was reviewed and approved by the NYC building department prior to our start on the project. Also note our company was not cited for any violations, the engineer was cited and he did report and address his errors with the NYC building department. Mr. [Member Name Removed] in my 15 years of working at Quality 1st I have never walked off of a job. Our company could no longer work with you when you did in fact suggest that you would hire a hit man to take care of the neighbor you were feuding with. Mr. [Member Name Removed] you began a three neighbor feud prior to our arrival to the site to begin work and continually attempted to get us to make statements or place blame on your neighbors for your homes problem. You made such a problem that there was yelling and screaming amongst neighbors that it was difficult to even work on your project. Mr. [Member Name Removed] you accused me of not filing for proper NYC building permits. We gave you copies of the permits. We supplied you with the Permit expediter information which we hired to obtain the permits. You then called the building department and reported us for working without a permit. I met the NYC code enforcement agent at your home with copies of the building permits and the NYC code enforcement agent verified the permits after looking them up in your presence. After the NYC official verified the permits you called the NYC department of consumer affairs and reported me personally and claimed I was doing work without permits. All of this Mr. [Member Name Removed], forced us to remove ourselves from your project. All of this Mr. [Member Name Removed], made the engineer remove him self as the engineer of record on your project. Our company has great pride in our work and customer service. We will never claim to be perfect, but will always evaluate, correct and work on the customers behalf to deliver what we said we would. Mr. [Member Name Removed] this became impossible once you started actively working against us and making false claims to NYC agencies in an attempt to damage our reputation. We are not happy to have a project we were forced to walk away from, but we know its for the best for our employees. We have fully refunded you all the monies you have paid us. We hope you can find a contractor more suitable to your needs in making your repairs.

The sump install was excellent. They removed the sorry excuse of a sump setup from the previous homeowner (flex hose that had a pinhole leak and the sump float that was set so high to reduce the duty cycle I imagine). The original hole was removed and they added two more for the new PVC piping to pass through. Outside the mated the two pipes as well as the nearby gutter (bonus) to their drain pipe which was lawnscaped out about 15 ft. Excellent results as the high water in my sump was remedied as well as properly sealed! Time will tell on its reliability but it has 3 sumps and a battery backup so I have some piece of mind. They also use Zoeller sumps which I know has excellent reliability in the field. As for my backyard I had one lawnscape done for a gutter but since there was a neighboring one, Raoul and team suggested I run it down a different path so he could mate the nearby gutter to it for no additional charge. Its been working great for the last 2 rain days we had. I am ecstatic. I also had polyleveling done for two slabs leading to my steps. I was skeptical at the solution technique but it was pretty cool watching them perform the leveling. They definitely know what they are doing as they leveled and sealed the slab joints perfectly. No more crooked looking step and bad caulk job to try and hide the work from the previous owner. Kudos to Chris Bowe the sales designer on suggestions and prioritization of my concerns. He never tried to upsell me. Also a huge thanks to Victor, Raoul and his team for the install. He is a very nice and friendly installer that is competent. The polylevel team was also excellent. The work was so efficient and quick. They made it look too easy. Time will tell as far as reliability of the work but I am fairly confident things will hold up based on the quality of parts and care of installation. I would hire them again for future work if needed.

Their salesperson arrived promptly and provided me with a lot of information about their process. An estimate followed promptly as well. I own a condominium unit in an aging community (the infrastructure, not necessarily the residents). As a result there is a lot of concrete work to be done. The board decided to have one slab done with this process and see if it was something we wanted to use in the future. The first time the technicians arrived they were a day late with no call. An emergency had arisen on their previous job and I was only informed when I called and was asked why I had waited until the end of the work day to call. When they did arrive the next day they worked on the slab but were not able to level it. I was told they could put the trip hazard in a less conspicuous area but couldn't eliminate it. They had to come back to seal the joints so I agreed to see what the slab looked like at that time. By the next day the slab had sunk and the trip hazard was as bad as before. I called, spoke to a project manager and expressed my dissatisfaction. When the the crew returned I was offered the same excuses for not being able to level the slab and again an attempt was made to put the trip hazard in a less conspicuous corner of the slab where proximity to a shrub made walking over the hazard less likely. After several more days the slab had again settled. I called and reminded the project manager that they guaranteed no more that 1/4" settlement and that my job had never achieved that level to begin with. A crew was sent out a third time this time with a technical supervisor. Again the slab was raised, the same excuses were offered and the trip hazard remained in the least dangerous place. After a couple of weeks the slab now seems stable if not level. Quality 1st is a victim of their own promotional materials. They promise far more than they were able to accomplish in my situation. They showed driveway slabs, factory floors etc. being leveled perfectly with their process. My job, a single slab of a sidewalk, couldn't be managed. The community will not be using this process or this company in the future.

The work went quite well. the concrete in my basement was very strong and hard to break. It created a lot of dust which was expected and dust managed to make its way into the home. but the work was very professional. I tend to like things perfect so thats why I gave them B on quality but the important things were done well. In the end there was a lot of dust that eventually fell to the floor after completion but as I was having more work done it was not an issue.

Before they show up you get a large packet of advertistments. Once on sight they only have one answer and that's to sell the most expensive option. Several other contractors called in and the problem was fixed for 300.00 instead of the 8000.00 quote we recieved. As noted a pier and reinforcement had already been installed. They simply ignored.

The provider installed to much foam and the cement started to crack and settle. Had them come back several times to remediate the situation. The provider kept telling me that they fired the technician and didn't have anyone to fix it. Provider told us to wait until after winter, then they would have someone come back out. To this day there are still issues. I paid a different provider to fix this issue and they haven't been able to fix the issue.

Like most shore houses post-Sandy, we needed to make some remediation of our crawl space. We did a lot of due diligence and sought several estimates. Even though Quality 1st Basement was a bit higher in overall cost, we decided to go with the adage, "You get what you pay for"; especially when you consider we are dealing with the foundation of the house and not some other arbitrary detail like crown molding or drywall. One service we sought an estimate from actually charged us $99.00 for an estimate, calling it a 'survey and review' and said we could apply that amount to the purchase price if we chose to use them. That particular service was unprofessional, gave us a handwritten estimate on a form letter and then told us we had mold and that it would cost $1300 to remove; meanwhile, the estimator only stuck his head in the crawl space, along with some instrument connected to his iPhone and made that diagnosis - altogether that was one big red flag. His estimate for calculating square footage of our crawl space was also much greater than what Mike from 1st Quality and another engineer had given us. It begged the question, how can you give an estimate for cleaning and removing mold if you haven't looked in the entire crawl space? Again, you get what you pay for! Mike J. from 1st Quality, along with Jose and his crew who did the work were professionals from start to finish and worked with us and our budget. I would recommend using 1st Quality even if their price is higher; ask them to itemize and price out all the options they offer, they will gladly work with you.
