+ -1 moreWhen he went up and went to install the awning he did bring his tools with him. He didn't know how to set up the pulley system properly for the large picture window awning and had one of the cords coming out that tore it at the seams.He didn't put the rods throught the sleeves and the rods through the canvas grommet. He didn't put it up accurately. When I went to the back of the awnings I looked at it and saw that it was damaged. I called him up and all I said to him was to come bring it down and bring it to the awning provider of my choice because he had a pickup truck and it was too large to put in my car. He wanted $50 dollars to drive it to the awning shop.He ruined it and put it up inaccuratly. I'm going to have to charge for repairs. I wasn't going to cancel the $55 check and pay for the repairs that he called. Its actually going to cost me at least $132 to come and pick them up and bring them back and that will not include the repairs. I'm going to be out at least $300 out of pocket because of his incompdence. He is incompedent in putting up the awnings, does not want to man up to his mistakes, and did not want to be corropertive in taking the awnings and bringing them to awning shop to be repaired. I would never use this man again nor recommend him.
Description of Work: I called and I needed awnings put up that were purchased from another awnings company. They normally charge $132.00 because they are professional services for awnings. It was 3 regular window awnings and 1 picture window awning that needed put up.

Description of Work: nELSON qUOTED $280 FOR LABOR AND $70 FOR MATERIALS. hE COULD NOT REPAIR OUR PILLARS AS HE EXPECTED TO. HE REPAIRED THEM AS BEST HE COULD BY SLIPPING A LARGE SHIM TO HOLD THEM STEADY AND USE A LITTLE CEMENT TO HOLD THEM IN PLACE. hE DID NOT JACK UP EACH PILLAR AND SLIP A TILE UNDER EACH ONE AND FINISH WITH CEMENT ON THE EDGES. hE DID NOT REPLACE THE EXPANSION JOINTS. iN THE BATH HE FOUND ABOUT 5 MINOR HOLES IN THE SHOWER TILES AND RUBBED A LITTLE GROUT IN THE SPACES. ALLTHOUGH HE REMOVED HIS SHOES HE LEFT THE FLOOR COVERED IN DIRT. hE LEFT THE JOB SEVERAL TIMES, ONCE TO VISIT HIS LAWYER. a JOB THAT SHOULD HAVE ATMOST TAKEN ABOUT AN HOUR TOOK FROM ROUGHLY 10:30 TO AFTER 3PM. i THINK HE KNOWS HIS BUSINESS, BUT HE THOUGHT US LACKING IN KNOWLEDGE AND PERHAPS OLD AND NOT TOO BRIGHT. i THINK HE INTENDED TO DO THE JOB WELL, AND IT IS OK, BUT NOT TERRIBLY PROFESSIONAL.

+ -1 moreWhile visiting my parents last week, I had Nelson come back again to do some additional work. He replaced a inoperative stove, replaced a leaking toilet, rebuilt a 60 year old furnace, installed a sump pump, and did drywall repair on ceilings that were damaged from the leaking toilet. I found Nelson to do outstanding work and was always very courteous to my elderly parents. He didn't try to overcharge me for any work or recommend items that didn't need replacing. When you need someone to help the elderly fixing things around the house, you can definitely trust Nelson of Nelson's Home Improvements to promptly fulfill your requests. I couldn't hesitate to reccomend him highly.
Description of Work: I was referred to Nelson 0. Reyes of Nelson's Home Improvements by my father's home nurse's aid. Both of my parents are elderly in New Jersey (I am in Ohio), so I was looking for a good handyman to do work around the house as needed when home repair items came up. This past winter when my father's furnace went out with a bad pump, he came promptly to fix it and billed me a very fair price. He did an excellent job.
