Henry's Floor Sanding

We called Henry the end of June for an estimate based on reviews read on Angie's list. We had just settled on a new home and knew there were hardwood floors under some carpeting and we wanted them refinished. Henry was the best price by a small amount (but that is not the only reason we chose him) and was able to fit us into his schedule. I had read in other reviews that he books up fast and it is true. He was booked a month out but was able to fit us in over the holiday weekend - he is obviously a very hard worker. I recommend booking him as soon as possible (even if you do not have his estimate yet) to ensure you can get the job when you want it. I am sure you will be happy with the estimate. He and his crew arrived on time and finished the job in the estimated time. He recommended a couple of stain colors based on the current coloring of our floor and how it would look. Our floors look gorgeous! He fixed creaks, replaced pieces that had many nail holes from the tack board and also made a couple of transition pieces to rooms with other flooring. He also informed us that there are the same hardwood under floors that have new hardwood on top. We look forward to having those refinished by Henry in a few years!

Henry and his crew came to do some serious repairs on my hardwood floors. I had carpet throughout my house, so I ripped it up and saw just how badly damaged the floors were. There was a lot of water damage and pet stains, especially in the high traffic areas. To be honest, it looked so bad, I really didn't think Henry would be able to do much to restore it to its former glory. I figured it would look ok, at best. The job took 3 days, so my husband and I had to stay in a hotel. When we got home...I could not believe how good my floors looked! They looked like sheets of glass! The wood was restored to its natural beauty (albeit a bit darker because they were in such poor shape) and it was just amazing how good they turned out. Henry came out right away and gave us an estimate. He was professional ,prompt and very nice. The day of installation he was right on time and did a wonderful job.He had the job finished in one day and it looked beautiful! I would call him again for all my flooring needs!

They did refinishing of the floor and basically the first level, so it was living room, dining room and floor. It was hardwood flooring. It was the service that stood out. They did a phenomenal job. We think that it was a good deal.

The work took three days: first day sand and apply first coat of finish. Returned next day and the following day to apply additional coats. The floor is gorgeous! Henry is very professional, punctual and flexible. He is very busy so you have to book well in advance. But his pricing is fair and the work fantastic.

Henry responded promptly to our initial call and scheduled an appointment for an estimate. He arrived on time, took measurements and gave us a written quote within minutes. We hired him immediately based on his affordable estimate and the high number of excellent reviews from Angie's List. An hour later, a second contactor we found on Angie's List came out to give us an estimate that was almost $1000 higher, based mostly on the repairs that needed to be done. Henry arrived two weeks later on the scheduled day, on time, and quickly went to work. He removed varied width boards from an upstairs bedroom closet that was going to be carpeted to use for the repairs. He replaced the boards in the closet with standard width red oak he had in has van, even though I told him I was carpeting over it. He told me that one day I may want to have the bedroom done and that this way it was done properly. He repaired areas that were damaged by termites around our fireplace. He repaired a section that was stained from a dog that we didn't even notice. His helper hand scraped the steps! Henry also made 5 transitions for us at no additional charge. All the repairs, the sanding, and the first coat was done on the first day! He came back the next two days to buff and recoat. Henry did an absolutely wonderful job. He is professional. He knows his craft. He pays attention to detail. And, he was affordable. I would absolutely hire him again, and I recommend him to everyone who sees and comments about how beautiful our floors are. We have fantastic floors in our newly-purchased home thanks to Henry! The previous owners had a dog and a young child so the floors were pretty beat up when we bought the place. Henry came in with his crew and revived the floors and stairs within four days. He also took the initiative to fix the floor where the boards weren't aligned correctly, smoothed out any unevenness, and installed baseboards and quarter-rounds (even where we didn't ask him explicitly to do so) to give us a finished product that looks great! Through the process, he sent us updates through text messaging with photos (since we were out of town). Henry is punctual, professional, affordable, and takes pride in his work. We highly recommend Henry's floor sanding if you are looking to refinish your floors.

My experience with them overall was good. They came out quickly to do the estimate. They completed the job close to the scheduled time. I was just unhappy with one thing, they was just a slight bump in the floor that they could have easily sanded down so that there wouldn't be a hump. Rather than doing that he sort of gave me an unsatisfactory answer about why he didn't do it. When we are putting in $7000 worth of floors it would have taken him just five minutes to make it right but instead he made up a story so that was my only concern with him. Otherwise I was happy with the outcome. I would use him again but I would hang around and make sure he did what he should do and not expect him to do what he should have done. I would also get an agreement in the beginning.

I can only wish that all contractors were as professional and honorable as Henry. I found every interaction with him to be on-point, friendly and helpful. His rates are reasonable (he beat two other quotes by a few hundred dollars) and he was impeccable with his word, showing up exactly on time and finished exactly on the day he said he would finish. I found him to be 100% trustworthy with the keys to our home while he did the work. He called to give us an update at the end of the first day of work and was in touch with me throughout the days he was working on the house, answering my questions, and returning my phone calls promptly. The equipment they used did not spread hardly any sawdust in the house and they were very good about wiping down surfaces after they were done sanding. The work they did is absolutely beautiful. We are stunned at how good our floors look and my only regret is that I didn't do this sooner.

My experience with Henry’s Floor Sanding was great. The price is good. If they need to show up they’ll show up. Henry was really courteous and the floors came out great.

We are very happy with quality of Henry's work. He met us for an estimate and provided his opinion on the work we wanted to have done. We wanted to remove the carpeting on 2 staircases and 1 full floor of our house (2 bedrooms and hallway) and replace the carpeting with solid hardwood. He recommended that he sand, stain and finish the existing pine on the staircases instead of putting in new hardwood to save us some money. At first we were concerned about how this would look alongside the new hardwood flooring we were having installed in the bedrooms and hallway (a dark maple that we bought from a retail chain) - but in the end it turned out great and color matched well. Henry's team was punctual and professional, and the quality of their work was great. They spent 2 1/2 days at the house doing the work. I would highly recommend him for any job and will definitely use him for any future flooring projects.

The floors look great. Repairs were made that did not result in additional cost Communication was excellent, and the price was very reasonable relative to other bids. I would definitely use this company again.

Henry answered all of my questions and I had many of them. He did what he could to ensure that I was a happy customer. He came with his team and they worked efficiently and in a timely manner. Mr. Henry and his team are simply wonderful. He was available for any question I had while selecting my flooring and provided very good insite during the process. He and his crew were on time and worked neatly and professionally during the entire install. I would recommend his service to anyone looking to have a quality job preformed. They were in and out in one day and the work is simply beautiful.

Henry himself was very responsive to my call about getting an estimate. He walked through the house with me and get me a good price and a detailed description of the cost of each bit of work that would be done. ( knowing that we saved a bit in removing the old carpet ourselves). We agreed to sand, apply 3 coats of poly and add 1/4 round throughout about 1600 square feet of my house. It was a 3 day job. The first day he showed up on time and ready to work. We did a quick walk though. He noticed some of the floor had old pet stains hidden by the carpet and should be replaced, the cost was fair so we decided to take his advise. We couldn't be happier, the floors look great and he even fixed some squeaky spots we thought we would have to live with. He was there for every day of work and him and his crew cleaned up well after themselves. The smell afterwards lasted a couple days but it was to be expected. I would highly recommend using Henry's services.

The floors came out beautiful - Henry really knew how to finish the old wood. He perfectly patched some water damaged flooring from a fish tank spill. He arrived and finished without any delays. He sent the right amount of workers to be effective. The end product was fantastic.

They were very punctual and helpful with removing the old carpet. I also had problems with the flooring delivery dates due to bad weather and he was very flexible with rescheduling

I had to reschedule the job several times but Henry worked with me and was very flexible. The floors were in very poor shape due to being covered with carpet for many years and showing the usual wear as kids bedrooms. Henry and his team were very punctual and upon arrival on the first day went to work sanding the floors down to the bare wood. They hung plastic sheeting in the upstairs hallway which helped to keep the dust from spreading to the other areas of the house. Over the next two days they applied stain and several coats off polyurethane, sanding between the first two coats. The final poly coat was applied on the third day, completing the job. The floors look like new and we are very happy with the job. I would not hesitate to recommend Henry and his team to anyone looking to rejuvenate their hardwood floors.

They sanded floor to bare wood and replaced some wood that was damaged by our aging dog. Floors look new and you can't tell where they patched. They were very professional and clean. I would highly recommend in the future.

This is a long overdue review...we had just purchased a home with original floors circa 1927. Henry's Floor Sanding was referred to us by a friend with a Victorian Home circa 1870. Phuc was knowledgable, explained options and answered a lot of questions. He was extremely flexible in scheduling the job with the total scope TBD as we had not yet closed on our house and could not show him the interior until the day of the job. He also worked very hard to accommodate our timing in his existing schedule. Henry's beautifully refinished our white pine floors on 2 levels in a satin finish. These are old floors and he advised that this will be the last time they can be refinished...they got into hard to reach areas, nailed squeaky spots and filled in old pipe holes and areas that were too weak. We couldn't be happier with our vintage floors.They also did our third floor, which are salvaged wide plank pine in a satin finish. Again, beautiful! I asked a few questions and made a few requests during the process, and Phuc was responsive to everything. I'd recommend Henry's to anyone looking for floor refinishing. His price was fair and the experience was excellent.

We couldn't be happier! From the day I contacted Henry to the day he finished the work everything went great. He quickly came out to discuss our options and give us a quote. Although he is quite busy he was able to schedule us to have the work done within a few short weeks. We spoke a few times before he started the work and each time he returned my calls promptly. He and his team arrived each day exactly on time ready to begin a full day's work. The job was quite big and messy due to all the precision cuts that needed to be made and the detailed work on the stairs but they made an honest effort to reduce to amount of dust, even creating a tunnel around the stairs to prevent the dust from traveling. Henry and his team took no shortcuts with this project and it shows. The finished product is absolutely beautiful and the quality and detail speaks for itself. We are absolutely happy with the results and couldn't have asked for anything better. I would definitely recommend Henry and would use him again!!

Henry (and his staff) were very professional. We spoke to Henry on a Saturday and he showed up Sunday morning to provide us with a quote. Given the excellent ratings, we hired Henry and scheduled the work to be performed at the end of the month. Henry showed up on time each of the 3 days. The first day they stripped the floors and installed the hardwood in the hallway. The second day they finished installing the treads and applied the first coat of stain. The third day they returned for the final coat. The floors in the bedroom have been revitalized .. the one minor downside is that there are a few areas where you can see streaks but given that the parquet design is not all one direction, I guess that is to be expected. The hallway and steps look great .. wish I would have done this work many years ago. I would definitely rehire Henry.

My experience has gone very well so far. He seemed very professional and highly knowledgeable in his field. I really liked that he had the wood samples ready for us to see. He took the time to speak with us and explain everything to us. The estimate price was reasonable. I would recommend this company to others.

Henry was an absolute delight to work with from start to finish. He arrived promptly for the estimate and made it clear that he knows exactly what he's doing, explaining my options in detail, and telling me exactly what to expect and how to prepare for the project. His estimate was so reasonable that I immediately asked him to perform the work that needed to be done. He was busy for the next five or six weeks, but then appeared exactly as scheduled. His crew completed the entire house in three days, sanding, staining and applying three layers of polyurethane, replacing quarter-round trim in several rooms and repairing some broken and loose boards throughout my 80-year-old house. Although I had promised to remove carpeting that had been in two of the bedrooms, when he arrived, I had not yet had a chance to remove the carpet from one of the bedrooms. Henry said his team would remove the carpeting without a problem. When I asked if I needed to give him more money for that, he looked at me like I was crazy and said "it's OK." Not only did they remove the carpeting, they put it and all of the other debris out at the curb so that I didn't have to bother. The craftsmanship in the work that he and his team performed is awesome. When the job was done, I couldn't believe how gorgeous my floor looked. I showed it to my next door neighbor, who took one look at it and said: "I didn't realize you were having new floor put in." I had to explain to her that it was my old floor, which she did not believe. In sum: Henry is an extremely conscientious and ethical professional who does superlative work at a very reasonable cost. The only complaint I have is that I really wish he didn't just do floors. Why can't he do remodeling and other kinds of work? It's so hard to find professionals who meet his standards of excellence in every way.
