Henry's Floor Sanding

I have positive feedback for them. I liked the quality of work and the price was good. They do what they say.

The work turned out very well. I had someone else do some work for me and it turned out very poorly, he was able to fix the work the previous company did. He did a phenomenal job and I was really amazed with his work.

I wound up not using them because I chose not to do the work. He was nice, polite, and honest. His price was on the low side.

Henry and his guys did a wonderful job not only sanding and refinishing our 90+ year old floors, but also made sure that all the damage that had been done by previous owners (random holes for coax cables and telephone, obvious pet stains, and some residual fire damage in one area) were flawlessly repaired. In addition to replacing an entire section of stained and damaged wood in one entry, and then staining it to a near-perfect match with the old floors, Henry also corrected several flaws in the Mahogany border detail which were incorrectly repaired at some point. The Mahogany border detail (which is common in houses built in the same time period) is now consistent and flawless, and I could not be more happy with consistency of the color. You will notice I have rated Henry's work as all "A's", but in order to be objective I feel the need to note two finer points of his service, one of which is just for information, and the other is a "I wish I would have". First, communication with Henry over the phone is (at first) a little difficult because he is not a native English speaker. Do not let this dissuade you, because he does speak English well, and one-on-one communication is fine; he was very careful about understanding what we wanted, telling us the cost and schedule, and then making sure we got it. In fact, we enjoyed talking to Henry, and very much appreciated his passion for his craft and the obvious joy he gets from doing it well. I think he was as pleased with the repair work on the border detail as I was. Second, (and the only thing I would change about his work) I wish I would have asked for more meticulous attention to setting and filling the nails on the top-nailed floors. My wife and I are very happy with Henry's work (we will have him back to re-finish the second floor next year), and it was nice to have someone who is accomplished and passionate about his craft work in our home.

Henry is a very pleasant person and provided exceptional service. Henry came out when scheduled and provided an estimate for the entire project. i could tell he was actually calculating the price based on established standards rather than ball parking it. Henry's price was not the lowest I was quoted at, but he seemed to be knowledgable and honest. Overall I think Henry did a nice job. The are places that I notice now when I walk around the house where the sanding equipment scratched the floor, or the staining pooled up, but considering the price, speed, and generally enjoyable experience, it is acceptable. I added a few small jobs in the middle of the project, including pulling some old underlayment i couldn't get to, and sanding/staining inside some window seats and a utility closet. Henry did not charge me for these additions. At the end of the second phase, I noticed that there was a slight color difference between two rooms that were done in different phases. Henry was able to darken the one room to match the adjacent spaces and did so without additional costs. In fact, Henry actually gave me some money back at the end because the work was a little quicker / smoother than expected. I will use Henry again in the future if we decide to replace the existing hardwood floors.

Henry and his crew showed up when they said they would and finished on time. This was very important as I had painters coming in the next day. They did not try to over-charge me for asking for the rush and the floors were dramatically better than when they started!

He was excellent. He was very prompt and did a good job. They moved some heavy furniture. They were not too happy about doing it but they did it. They did a very nice job and it looks really good. I am planning to use them again when I have another floor ready.

he was exactly on time when he arrived for both the estimate (on a sunday) and when he started the work. he's a really nice guy. his team left the house very clean (in terms of trash - there was dust from the sanding left, of course) after the work was completed. the floors look amazing - we wish we had more floors for them to do! to be honest, i didn't get other estimates for the work b/c everyone on angies list raved about his prices, so i can't compare but it seemed reasonable given what i was expecting. i'd highly recommend him.

Henry responded to our call for an estimate immediately. Told us the ins and outs of the multiple types of floors installed in our attic room, then returned a couple of days later to refinshed the floors. He installed small shoe molding around details we weren't even expecting. The floor looks AMAZING.

Henry came on a weekend to give us an estimate, went through our house, and produced a reasonable estimate on the spot. He then scheduled to do the work (refinishing Brazilian cherry floors throughout the house), showed up when promised and did great work -- just as he told he would. Very pleased.

Henry and crew were on time and went to work right away. I am extremely satisfied with workmanship, courtesy and professionalism. And I would recommend Henry to anyone in need of floor refinishing or installation.

Henry is a complete professional and good person to boot. I've used him on three separate properties and his work is always incredible. I've never had a problem scheduling him and I think his prices are reasonable.

Very badly. As noted, we had to sue him. The judge did not bat and eye and, to Henry's credit, he did not really deny anything we said.

I think that they are reasonable and do what they say they are going to do. They do a good job. I am not sure about their punctuality but I didn't hear any complaints.

We sold our house and were moving out when our movers put a ~2 foot long gash in the wood at the bottom on the steps. The scratch was very deep and crossed multiple boards. Our settlement was the following day and I called a few companies to schedule with our buyers to have the work performed after settlement. I received phone estimates ranging from $125 just to look at it to $50 a board and none of these companies could come out anytime soon. We plan to move into an older house that will need some refinishing, so I called Henry's Floor Sanding, explained our situation and asked if he did floor repair. Henry gave me an accurate price over the phone - and then said he would come out after wrapping up at a job site today. I went from a phone call to a finished job in less than four hours. The crew was great, they were methodical yet quick and vacuumed while they worked. The house was cleaner after they left then before they came. We alerted our buyer as soon as we saw the damage b/c their walk through was the following morning and their Realtor told us he was on his hands and knees and couldn't see where the repair was made. Great work and I intend to use Henry's Floor Sanding again! I've already told at least 10 people about their work. Thanks again!

My wife and I have not yet used Henry, but we are scheduled to in late August. We called a number of floor refinishing companies and just seemed to get the run around. We called Henry and set up an appointment to give us an estimate and he came right on time. He looked over the job and made some suggestions. He was very knowledgeable and very professional and gave us our estimate right on the spot. We can't wait for Henry to start the job!

Probably the best experience we had working with any subcontractor over the course of an extensive seven month gut renovation of our center city four story townhome. Henry and his men really know what they are doing. I don't think there was another trade we felt we could just leave alone and let them do their work unsupervised. The floors in our home are truly breathtaking. Henry went the extra mile in so many ways to give us a quality job, bringing so many things to our attention that we never considered, and patiently working with very difficult material (end matched wide plank mahogany boards that were improperly milled by Kane woodworking). How many people show up exactly when they say they will, spend exactly the amount of time they said the project would take, blow your quality expectations out of the water, and charge exactly what they said it would cost in the first place? Don't even bother talking to anyone else. This is the company to use if you want the very best installation and finishing for your hardwood flooring.

My wife and I decided it was time to remove the carpet on our first floor to see what we could do with the flooring underneath. That included an enclosed porch, living room and dining room. What we found was 85 year old oak flooring with a one inch cherry inlay going around the perimeter of each room. Overall, we felt that they had potential, but they were pretty beat up in some spots. We called Henry to get a quote after seeing all of the positive reviews on Angie's List. Henry came to the house the same day that we called and worked with our schedule. He was extremely thorough when he looked at the floors and pointed out areas that he could improve. No one else was this detailed. He assured us that the floors were solid and would look great. Henry and his two crew men arrive exactly on time. His guys went to work the second they got to the house. I would normally be worried about leaving strangers in the house for a few days, but I felt at ease as soon as they got her. When we came home after 3 days, we felt like we moved into a new house. The floors still have the charm and detail of 85 year old floors, but also look brand new. Henry and his crew are true craftsmen. I feel as though he went above and beyond with the level of detail that they put into their work. Henry even called me yesterday to make sure we were happy with everything. My wife and I were going to re-carpet upstairs but have decided that we will bring Henry back in a few months to do the rest of the house. I would highly recommend Henry's Floor Sanding and will be hiring him again soon.
