After vacation we started the pilot light for our hot water heater and waited for the water to warm up. The pilot stayed lit, but all our water was cold. I called FL Myers Inc. and they sent a technician (Tom) out to my home within an hour. Tom carefully reviewed all the places that the system could fail. He pulled the burner and tested the parts. When he determined that a new thermostat was required he went to the truck and brought in the correct part for our over-sized heater. He emptied the water heater removing most of the built up sediment and then reinstalled the thermostat and thermocouple. After the water heater was refilled he lit the pilot and the burner came on. He told me to expect sediment to come out of the system for a while which it did. He also suggested that I hook the drain hose up to the water heater only when I was going to flush it out. He said this would prevent contamination of the houses closed water system and help us avoid some nasty water borne illnesses.
