My wife wanted to have a structural engineer to do the inspection as she had some concerns about cracks in the walls of the home. Mike demonstrated his broad engineering knowledge in explaining to us the major concerns and how they could be fixed as well as those issues that are not a structural concern. He also had a very detailed knowledge of building code and pointed out areas that could be potential safety issues. Mike's report was very detailed and more than met my expectations. Mike was extremely thorough and identified issues that potentially saved us 10's of thousands of dollars. He was knowledgeable, responsive, and professional. He did not take photographs which is fairly uncommon among home inspectors these days. However, I carried a camera around and took pictures while he focused on the inspection and pointed out areas of concern. If you are looking for a home inspector who has a tremendous amount of experience, who is not going to rubber stamp a house, Mike is great choice. I would highly recommend Aand M Engineering.

For a home inspector, we would have liked more of the real story behind the house that identified the issues but balance that with what is truly urgent and what isn't urgent. A and M unfortunately mentioned everything as urgent and it was very unnecessarily alarmist which made us very nervous with the house when we didn't need to be that scared. The home that we looked at had knob and tube wiring for the whole electric system and they missed that in their facts report. We ended up having to hire an electrician on top of the inspector from A and M to identify the problem. He missed something critical. It cost almost $10,000 worth of work on something he missed. They offered their inspection document but it was very hard to read. It was like a word document. There were no pictures, no organization of issues.

He arrived on time, respectful of my time and space, and I felt like he gave me an honest, professional opinion of what needed to be done on my home, which was exactly what I was looking to receive. I would highly recommend this company.
