John from DIR Home Inspections arrived on time for our new home inspection. He conducted a very thorough inspection and explained everything he was doing, as well as any observations that were made. He clearly summarized all observations and to everyone after discreetly requesting permission, and I really felt like he was on my side. He provided the list of observations in an email after a couple of days with pictures for reference. I was able to negotiate with the seller to address all issues that were identified, which potentially saved me from anything that may have been missed before closing. I would definitely recommend DIR for home inspections.

Everything went quite well except the price. I paid for the full inspection with a Radon and Wood destroying Insect report. While we were at the house, the inspector said that because the basement was not a living space he felt okay to skip the radon test. Also, he saw previous insect damage that was not active, so did not do the rest of what would be the Wood Destroying Insect Report. He said he would refund the difference of $125 from the normal inspection cost of $375 against the expanded inspection for $500. When I called to ask about the refund a few weeks later, he didn't remember making that statement. I didn't have it in writing, only myself and my agent as witness to his statement. That was disappointing because other than that everything went fine. The report was detailed and clear. It had pictures of all relevant points. Advice: Pay for the normal inspection and add the expanded inspection payment after/during the inspection

Everything went above and beyond what I expected. This man was much more than what I expected. He went out his way to assure me that anything wrong would be picked-up in his inspection. My money spent was well deserved. Give this business a try, you won't be disappointed!

I called DIR Home Inspections and was able to set up for an inspection within a few days. When I met John at the house he was very professional showing up in uniform and in a company truck. He invited me to walk next to him while he was performing his very thorough inspection. At the end of the inspection he gave me a rundown of the all the pro's and con's of the house. He also had suggestions of maintenance items that I was completely unaware of. His report of the house was easy to understand. As a first time home buyer, my mind was put to ease after dealing with DIR Home Inspections. I would absolutely use this company again and I will recommend them to all my family and friends.

Outstanding home inspector! My husband and I first used John's services in the summer of 2016 when we found what we thought was the perfect home. John's inspection revealed extensive termite damage, and mold in the attic and basement. As a result of his findings we terminated the agreement on a "lemon" house. When our offer on another house was recently accepted, John was our first call. He was extremely thorough and covered every square inch of the house - he even used a drone to inspect the roof! John also shared general tips for maintenance as he is inspecting, which is great for first time homeowners.

Excellent. He was very professional, uses latest technology (used drone to see & to show me how roof & gutters looked), very punctual, and very detailed in his inspection. He also educated me along the way about what to look for, how each item would impact me, the home etc. He is also very knowledgeable and he knows his stuff, no doubt. The best value for me though was his excellent advice on how to handle the issues identified with the sellers. He had no incentive to offer me such valuable advice, he didn't have to and that is not why I hired him. Despite that, he gave me such excellent counsel, which I used and ended up getting my way with the seller in the end. Thank you so much John, this value-add from you really made my day! I would recommend him to any one looking for a home inspector without hesitation, you will getting way more in value than the money you will pay him. I did.

Wow!!! What a great find. John was extremely knowledgeable and did an amazing job on our inspection. Nothing left out and couldn't be happier. Would hire him again in a heartbeat!!!!!!!

He did not show up with a pen and paper and missed a number of findings on his report.

We actually ended up hiring John twice-- once for a house we ended up walking away from (thanks to his help), and again for the house we are now about to close on. For the first house, he noted several moisture sources contributing to a visible mold problem in the basement, including pipe leaks inside and rainwater coming in from outside, and strongly recommended that we test the air in the basement for mold so we knew how bad it was. Well, the tests came back showing spore concentrations on par with an abandoned flooded building. With the seller being unwilling to put in a proper drainage system and the house needing tons of work as it was, we felt comfortable walking away from what would have been a persistent and expensive issue. The second time around, he was just as thorough and honest with us, showing us things we never would have noticed ourselves (e.g. failed flashing on one of the windows, history of leaks in one area of the dining room, etc). He doesn't cut corners and he doesn't sugarcoat-- he tells you everything. You can count on him to arrive on time, answer all your questions, perform a detailed inspection, and provide the resulting report within a couple days. Just make sure you stay in touch with him during attorney review to get a sense of his schedule-- he gets booked very quickly! I also like that he is the one answering calls-- no clueless assistant, no customer service, just the guy in charge. He made us feel secure in our investment, and I would recommend his services to anyone.

The guy was okay. He didn't put something in his report. So the seller and attorney didn't accept it. He didn't take pictures or put in his report that there was leaking in the basement.

If I had to describe the home inspection in one word, it would be thorough. John does not leave any stone unturned. He took over 150 pictures and included half of those in his report. He flagged 41 potential issues, several of which were serious and previously unknown to me. Very thankful to have had John in our corner during this process. I definitely recommend and would hire again.

Almost thorough, but we both missed that there was no dryer vent installed in the new home. Took me a day to add one through the attic and out of the house plus about $200 in materials. Would have cost about $700 for someone else to do the vent work.

John did a very thorough job and took pictures of everything. He was upfront and honest about all the issues with the house. He put together an extremely detailed report. I would use him again without question.

Inspection went as well as we could have hoped. John was professional and was very detail oriented. He walked us through every detail of his inspection and helped us with decisions on how to move forward with flaws he was able to find in the property. With John's expertise, we were able to highlight faulty contract work which led to us reducing our closing costs. We would hire John and DIR for any other home services that should surface in the future.

Everything was very good and John was very thorough and detailed in his inspection and afterwards discussing the findings.

John was extremely helpful in answering any questions we had during the inspection. He made sure to explain everything to us in terms we could understand. He used a drone to look on the roof of property which made it extremely easy to view at all angles. He also sent us our report within two days and sent us radon report in less than a week.

John was on time and thorough. He guided us through a 3 hour walkthrough explaining what to look for and what to negotiate during our home purchase. He ended up getting us a large credit back for items that he found.

John was knowledgeable and very through. During the inspection he would point out anything that may need attention but also took the time to explain how things work or what should be done to fix an issue. As a first time home buyer his advice and direction was greatly appreciated.
