Emailed DiR Home Consulting to schedule the 2 Hours of Handyman Service (i told them the dates that i was available & what is needed to be fixed & Angie List order #/coupon code, address & my phone #). John responded promptly on the same day to schedule me for 10am-12pm on 12/4/15. He arrived promptly around 10:05. We briefly chatted about what need to be done. He proceeded to work. John was very professional throughout. The work was done very nicely within the scheduled time. Actually they were done 20 minutes early. So I had him give me a quote for another 2 projects on the closet sliding door & deck installation. The quote was fair! I'm going to have John come back to do at least 1 of the 2 projects mentioned above.

It started off very good. John was on time, friendly and finished my jobs in only 4 hours (including a trip to Home Depot). However there was 2 minor problems which I had to call him back about. He promptly returned to address those issues. But 1 issue is still unresolved. I emailed him about it and he has not answered me back (2 weeks ago). I would have paid extra to get it fixed, I don't expect him to keep coming back because my original purchase was for 6 hours. But I did expect a response for my last email regarding the issue. I will hire a different handyman to complete the issue, which is why my overall rating is a "B".

I arrived on time and John was already there. In fact he had already started working before I got there. John took his time to go through every inch of the house. He was very efficient and knowledgeable in all aspects of the home. I highly recommend DIR Home for any of you inspection needs.

The owner, John, came on time and I showed him the first item on my to-do list - hanging two large and delicate antique carvings. He was hesitant about handling delicate antiques, but I persuaded him na he followed through and did a good job. This task took about one to one and a half hour. He told me that normally for a job like that, he would charge $500 and wants to consider it a stand-alone job, independent of the Big Deal I purchased - $119/3 hours. John offered to schedule a follow-up appointment for the same $119 for 3 hours to do other porjects on my list. I agreed to the follow-up appointment for the following week, when he would come with a helper.

Provider is more than a "handyman" - with a background in general contracting and home inspection, he was thoroughly knowledgeable and able to diagnose the problem as well as fix it. Fixed the shelving, hung it sturdy, and cleaned up perfectly in a very short period of time. In and out with no fuss in 90 minutes. Subsequently, he was able to make recommendations and a very fair estimate for installing a new vanity for which quite a bit of re-routing and some light carpentry + insulation. Other vendors were unable to find a solid solution for that project. He got it done in one day. Highly recommend.

I have a walk-in closet with shelves that had come away from the wall; left big holes in the sheet rock and was generally one big mess. I wanted to put the shelves up again to that I could store my many, many purses in storage bins I purchased. John Doering did the work for me and I couldn't be happier. Not only did he do excellent work, explained all the options available for this shelving project. John replaced the shelves and they were better than they were originally. And, he also closed the holes in the wall and the closet is now functional. He was prompt, professional and knows his craft. I plan to use him again sometime in the future and will also tell my friends, family, and co-workers about him as well. Thank you "Angies List," John Doering is the best. For anyone who may be as "particular" as I am about having work done in my home, you can't go wrong with John. He is one of very few craftsmen who really care about doing a good job and making you, the customer happy.

It was actually quite not that good. The guy showed up very late. He showed up 3 hours after he was supposed to get here. One of the things he was supposed to do, he did not do. He said he couldn't do it. The third thing was to replace a piece of wood on a step going out to the deck and he said he couldn't do that. He actually had to go to the hardware store to get the part. For what he did, it was worth the $119. The price was good for what he did. He was a nice man.

Very pleasant experience from estimating to conclusion. John was very creative in his suggestions and didn't push for extras. Work finish was beyond our expectation - very professionally done. Even though he is very busy, he didn't cut corners - we appreciated that. Will use again & recommend to others !

Took a while to make contact - exchange of phone calls, but once date was set, arrived on time and completed work. Also discussed future fence replacement.

John was a pleasure to work with. I wanted to create my perfect football viewing zone in my new home and explained to him over the phone what I envisioned. He said he'd make it happen. Showed up on time, really friendly guy, got the job done -- which require drilling into stone/mounting onto uneven surface/bracing -- and it looks great. I'll definitely call him again with any home projects that are beyond my capabilities.

John was great to work with! He was responsive via email and called prior to our scheduled visit to go over exactly what house projects I needed his help with. He arrived on time and got right to work. He was professional and courteous and an absolute pleasure to work with. He helped with all the projects I needed done in a timely manner. Additionally, John answered a number of questions I had about other work in the house and provided valuable expert advice that was much appreciated as a first-time home owner.
