Description of Work: Called for an estimate on whole house central air conditioning. Salesman showed up, took measurements and said they would be back with estimate. Even after phone call to them, never reeturned call or contacted us with estimate.

+ 2 moreNick the owner showed up for our initial consultation. He spent a good half hour with me going through all my options and ways to cut costs but not sacrifice the overall job. He was very professional and took his time explaining all our options. A day later I called to see if someone could come over and show me how to use the A/C unit and also see if they could service the machine the same day. Cole from the office was great to work with and was able to send someone over within three hours of my call. I would highly recommend Argent.

+ -1 moreTech was on time and professional. But the price was way over what I expected when making the service appointment. Was quoted an $89.00 diagnostic fee plus a $55.00 appointment fee plus any additional parts. No additional parts were required, I expected the bill to be $144.00. Instead was charged a whopping $347.00! Did honor my Angies List coupon which brought the price for the 35 minute service call to $318.00. Very glad to get the A/C compressor powered again but I feel the $347.00 fee for a shorted wire was extremely excessive.
Description of Work: Central A/C outside compressor was not working. The tech found one of the wires at the outside fuse box was worn and shorting out. Cut back the wire and insulation screwed back into the panel.

The guy who came knew about steam heaters, which is not a common type of heater over here. They have the specialty in the steam heaters that we needed. They were very reasonable.

+ -1 moreTheir work was good, but one of the shower heads leaked and they had to come back the next day. It was really expensive for them to check the air conditioner. It didn't need anything and their base price was $300. They were very nice, but I wouldn't use them again because they were so expensive.
Description of Work: I needed to have my air conditioning unit checked for the summer. They also replaced two shower heads.

Final billing matched the estimate and everything works. The only compliant is that the clean up could have been better. The basement floor was left stained and dirty.

+ 0 moreHe did not quote a price and when I finally received my invoice, it was very expensive. He then told me if I didn't like the price, I should get two other competitive bids, one from the gas company and the other from a supplier of my choice and he would match that price. When I did and both bids were less money (significantly less), he refused to match the price. After several very unpleasant phone calls, I paid his invoice. I will never, never, never allow him to do any work in my home. He is a cheat and a liar. I should also mention that I had a long working relationship with him. I started working with him when he only had one truck, about twenty two years ago.

+ 0 moreI got Argent Plumnbing from Angie's List. Nick responded to my call immediately and was on time for our appointment. Just looking at the situation he knew exactly what would work best for evenly distributing the heat throughout the house. (See above) He was professional and very knowledgeable. He sent me a detailed proposal of everything we discussed including cost and time factor. The work was done according to our contract from start to finish. They cleaned up everything when finished and put my furniture back as they found it. Nick made sure everything was done correctly.
Description of Work: I had an addition built onto my split-level house to make a mother-daughter set-up. As a result, the current furnace (which is approximately 8 years old) was inadequate for heating the entire house I had 6 different Heating & Cooling Companies write up proposals as to what needs to be done to distribute the heat evenly throughout the house and the cost. Some suggestions: a) purchase another furnace to heat the second floor b) others recommended I replace my current furnace with a larger one c) insulate the garage......... Nick from Argent Plumbing & Heating took one look at my set-up and told me that the best way to solve the problem was to put a mini-split wall mounted heat & cool (air conditioning) unit. All ducts leading to my two rooms were sealed which allows more heat to go to the rest of the house. I have complete control over the amount of heat I want. The winter is now over and I am extremely pleased with the results. I set the remote on 70 and have never had to touch it regardless of how cold it got this winter. As for the cost for this unit, it was alot cheaper than all of the above proposals.

Description of Work: Argent came to my house to diagnose what I thought was a broken water main. Argent worked with the water company to come to the conclusion that the water line was not broken - an honest plumber! I had them do some odds and ends that I needed to have done since they were already here.

+ -1 moreIt was a fine job. It wasn't a major a problem but it stayed fix so I can't complain. He did the job and that was it, it was all pretty cut and dried. If you have a standard plumbing problem he is competent. It is really hard to find a good plumber and the trouble is if one gets really popular or they are doing commercial work they don't necessarily send their best people to do a one time job.
Description of Work: They fixed two toilets replacing the tanks and mechanisms.
