Apex Appliance Repair & Air Duct Cleaning

I called the prior Friday and was told that the appointment would be the following Monday between 8am and 1pm (their earliest time slot). On Monday I called them and left a voice message at 12pm. They called back at 12:20pm. I informed them that I was still waiting for the repair technician and that it was almost to the end of my 8am to 1pm window. I was told that there was a "mix-up" and that I was actually scheduled between 10AM to 3pm. At which point, I asked them when the repair man would visit, and they told me around 2pm. At 3pm, I called them and left a voicemail. They called back at 3:15pm and hastily apologized and said that the repair man was on his way, and would arrive in about 30 minutes. The repair technician arrived at 3:45pm, and completed all work by 4:15pm. The technician offered no apologies. On the other hand, the technician was efficient was completed the work quickly and expertly. On the invoice, he charged $50 for parts (two gas coils) and $150 for labor. The dry vent cleaning was offered at a $69. What I would recommend to the company is the following: Please do not fault the customer and try to meet your appointment time slot. I don't understand the reasons behind the mix up. Even with the 10am to 3pm time slot, the repairman was extremely late. This is unacceptable. They need to do a better job of communicating with their customers. We can all understand if there are delays or some repairs which takes longer than expected. The company should communicate with their customers by calling them to inform them of delays. While the company responded to my voice mails, it should be more proactive in contacting people to let them know of the technician schedule. After this experience, I would be wary of scheduling future repair work with Apex Appliance.

We called Apex to clean our ducts in our house. I cannot say enough about them. They showed up on time when they said they would, they were very careful and respectful to our home, laying out tarps and blankets to protect our carpeting. They spent a lot of time making sure the job was thoroughly complete. They cleaned out our dryer and the dryer vent, we are very happy they did that because there was an abundant amount of lint built up inside of our dryer. Tom and Thomas were a pleasure to deal with. I will recommend them to my friends and family.

Bad for business when you don't return a call from someone in need of repair.

Repairman came early. He was very nice. He fixed the dryer in under 15 minutes.

Our refrigerator wasn't keeping our food cold, but the freezer was working fine. I called around noon on Tuesday, June 23rd to schedule Apex to come take a look. They had availability that same day within 4 hours, which was great. About an hour later, I received another call notifying me that the technician was on his way. He arrived about a half hour after that. I was already impressed with the immediate availability. The technician was friendly, prompt, and walked me through every step so I was aware of what was wrong, and how he was going to fix it. First, he removed everything from the freezer. He then removed the back panel, so he could access the defrosting element. There was so much frost built up in the freezer, it wasn't allowing cold air to travel into the refrigerator. He removed the defrosting element, and tested it for power. There was no power, hence it wasn't working and allowed frost to build up. He then asked me to get a bunch of beach or shower towels because he has to melt the frost built up. Little by little, he filled a cup with hot water, and poured it on the frost so it would melt. He was meticulous as to not allow any water to soak on the floor using my towels. After the frost was melted, he replaced the defroster, reinstalled the back panel, put my food and freezer items back, and cleaned up. It must have taken no longer than 45 minutes. There really isn't much more you can ask for from a company. Fast service, a friendly, knowlegable technician, and a fair price (though I didn't receive a price quote from anywhere else). Their high ratings are well deserved. My refrigerator is operating perfectly.

My dryer was not working properly so I checked Angie's list and found Apex. The gentleman that handled the appointment scheduling in the office could not have been more helpful or pleasant. I work in NYC and asked if they could schedule my house as the first appointment and they did so that I could get into the office at a reasonable hour and not have to take the day off. They graciously accommodated my request and honored their agreement by not only showing up at the promised time, they called me to let me know that the technician was on his way 10 minutes before he arrived. Tom the owner made the call to my house and like his office manager, he was a gentleman, professional, a straight shooter, and a very, very nice guy. I have been a home owner in Monmouth County for a while and have dealt with alot of tradesmen. It is astounding to me how many of them do not return phone calls, tell you they will be at your home at a certain time and never show up with no call of apology or explanation for the no-show etc. It amazes me that they stay in business.The guys at Apex from start to finish were amazing and I would highly recommend them. It was a great experience and i will absolutely use them again going forward.

Great experience. Tom called before arrival when he was on his way, and arrived at my home right on time. He not only performed the repair, but clearly showed me what to look for on the dryer, and demonstrated how the Drysafer alarm works. He thoroughly checked everything after the repair was done, to make sure all was in good working order. He seemed to really know his stuff, and I would be very confident using Apex again in the future if I ever need appliance service.Tom was very professional and he was also a friendly guy with a good sense of humor. My washing machine stopped working on a Sunday night. I found Apex Appliance Repair through Angie's List and sent them an email message that I would like to schedule an appointment. They called me first thing Monday morning and over the phone I explained the issue I was having with the washing machine. The gentleman on the phone was so pleasant and professional. He explained to me about their service charge to come and look at the appliance and give me an estimate. The service charge would be waved if I decided to use them to make the repairs, and I would only be charged for parts and labor. Then he explained to me over the phone that the issue I was having sounded like it would be very expensive to repair and that I just might want to consider replacing the washing machine with a new one. I thought that was extremely nice and honest of him! He could have come to my house and charged me the service charge and tell me the repair would be almost the cost of a new machine; however, he was upfront while on the phone with me. That was such a pleasant and much appreciated quality in a business. I would definitely recommend them as a repair company and I will not hesitate to reach out to them again if I ever need an appliance repaired!

Communication through messages on here from the start was very good and extremely prompt. Scheduled the appointment through messages, which was convenient seeing as I was at work and unable to call them during that time. They called 30 minutes before their estimated arrival, just as they said they would. The tech arrived, explained what needed to be done and what the pricing was. I gave a "B" for pricing as labor was $150 and it took him about 10-15 minutes to do the work and it seems like this is on the higher end based on research I've done after that fact (since I didn't really know what the issue was when I scheduled). That said, it's not overly high and the customer service alone makes up for that difference in my opinion. I should also mention that he added the Angie's List discount, which I actually had forgotten about, so that was great. They also guarantee their work for 2 years, which is excellent. I would highly recommend them if you have any appliance issues that require inspection or repairs.

Mike arrived promptly and performed an inspection of our dryer and determined that the heating coils needed to be replaced. Once he replaced the heating coils the dryer worked like a charm.

The serviceman from the start told me to consider the age of the refrigerator before he started to repair it. I needed a working refrigerator and had guests coming in a few days. He quickly determined that a buildup of ice between the freezer and refrigerator section was blocking cold air from going from the freezer to the refrigerator. He defrosted all the ice to get a better idea of the problem. He determined that the glass heater was partially burned out, and that was contributing to the ice buildup. He had a glass heater in the truck and, even though it was not the exact one for my refrigerator, he was able to make it work. The refrigerator has been working fine since the repair (about 7 months ago)

They were fast, neat and professional. I have used them before and would use them agian.

They were prompt, it needed a part, and they ordered it quickly and brought it within a couple of days, so they were friendly, and they seemed to know what they were doing. They had the expertise, and I was happy. The experience went fine. They made it easy. They did a good job. The price was pretty high, but I guess it was as good as anybody else would get.

They were on time for the appointment. They came when they were supposed to come. I thought their price was high for what they charged for the service.

I was very unhappy with my initial contact with company and was not going to recommend them, but my contact with Mike the repairman was very satisfactory. I initially used their website 'schedule service' feature - but no one got back to me. So a couple of days later, I called. I spoke to a woman in the office, explained what the issue with the cooktop was, offered to give the oven model #, was told it wasn't needed - that they had many parts in the truck, and scheduled an appointment for a Tuesday afternoon. I went home from work early and waited and no one showed up. When I called at the end of the three hour window, the same woman said that my appointment was scheduled for the next day. Because of work/school commitments, I had been very specific about needing a Tuesday appointment, so I know the problem was on Apex's end. She apologized and when she asked how I heard about Apex, I mentioned Angie's List. She then said to tell the tech and he would take $25 off service call for inconvenience (except Apex always offers $25 off for Angie's members). She rescheduled for Saturday morning between 8-11. On Saturday at 7:15, I got a call saying tech would be there in 15. When I mentioned I was told 8-11, the caller said, no, Saturday appointments start at 7:30. The tech (Mike) was there at 7:30. Opened the stove top, said he had to order parts. When I told him I was an Angies list member, and explained about the missed appointment, etc, he said there would be no service charge. He also showed me how to open the cooktop and replace the element myself. He said it would save me the service call and part markup. I appreciate Mike's honesty and his advice on how to do the repair to save me a lot of money. Despite the issues with the office, I would recommend Apex again if Mike is any indication of the caliber of the people they send out to their customers. Mike also gave me his cell number in case I had questions about the appliance repair.

Excellent service. I called on 9 Apr and they came out on 10 Apr. Appointment time frame was 10-4 but tech showed up by 11. He was very professional and courteous. He allowed me to explain the issue and asked questions along the way. He examined the oven and of course it worked perfectly the first time (things always seem to work when I have the repair person standing there - haha). He discussed potential problems and solutions with me (igniter or maybe internal circuit board) and gave me pricing estimates up front before any work began. There was no pressure to make a decision either way or any attempt to up-sell service. I decided to go ahead and replace the igniter and hope for the best (hoping it is not circuit board - lol). He quickly changed the igniter and tested it a few times to make sure it worked. In all, he was there about 30 minutes and told me to call him if it started acting up again. I do feel the price was a bit high ($250 minus $35 veteran discount) as the labor was $125 and the part was $125 (per the bill) and I have seen the igniters for around $65 on-line (I was not comfortable messing with natural gas so doing it myself was not an option). However, their quality of service makes the price easier to bear. Also, there is a service fee (diagnostic fee) of $69 for them to come out and inspect the issue; however, that fee is waived if they actually do the repair work and I think that is very fair and reasonable. Overall, the service was outstanding and I would definitely use them again for appliance repair needs. Cannot stress enough the professionalism of the tech and the excellent service. Highly recommended!!!!

Although I think the charge was rather high considering it took all of 15 minutes to replace the board, the rest of the experience warrants an "A" from me. I would definitely use this service again.
