Phil came at a recommendation from several people that I know that got pools by him. We couldn’t be happier that we decided to use him to do a total backyard makeover. The whole process went relatively quick considering the COVID times we live in. Phil was super professional and had no problem answering questions no matter how many times I seem to annoy him lol. As we all know the most important part is that my wife is extremely happy. In all I would definitely use him again in a heartbeat.

They were very informative and polite. They showed up when they said they would. They are professional and fair. I would recommend them.

I had a very difficult job. Large property but narrow space between houses. I had a very small window to build my pool while my neighbors house was under construction. Phil accommodated me and got the job done. I will always be grateful since other Pool companies in my area wouldn’t touch my job.

I would like to thank Metro pool for there amazing job done in our yard. We had a leak in our pool that was costing us so much money to fill the pool everyday and never be able to leave it running for more then a day without it leaking below the filters... we had so many companies come and give us ideas that cost so much money to fix and we just kept putting it off . Till we came across Metro pools...Who was fair in price and made a valid honest point in how to fix the leak... they fixed it with one try didn’t cost as much as we thought and did an amazing job...phil and his men were so helpful and amazing... they were there everyday on time as promised and explained everything that had and may have needed to get fixed...before hand so there were no suprises ...Phil did everything in his power to work in our budget knowing we didn’t want to go over our budget... and that he did...my yard is so amazing and beautiful.....I am so happy with his work and would recommend him to everyone and have.... thank you so much metro pool for doing our yard on time and perfect... your an amazing company no wonder you have been in business for 18 years... thank you so much:)

Phil has been at this a long time and knows what he is doing. The quote and pool shape selection process was easy. He gave great advice. His office is also very accommodating. I still text Phil to this day with questions and he responds immediately. It took my 7 months to get the permit from my town but Phil was in and out in pretty much 2 weeks!! Better and faster than expected. Safe bet for this type of service in NJ.

My yard was in bad shape for many years. I knew. I was decreasing the value. Pools may not add alot of value at times. But it will definitely hurt when try yo sell. I was going to get rid of it. But the prices to remove it was thousands more to refurbish. After 7 estimates, and several recommendations I just trusted Metro pools. The owner Phil helped me make alot of decisions I would not have been able to make. Exp. He said it depends on the conditon of the pool wall when you pull up the liner. He said he was suprised at how well it held up over the years and nothing needed to be done. A few years before, a branch from a storm ripped the liner and they told me the same thing so I knew he was honest. He is a big Pro and Con person. After the project started I wanted steps to help my mother who had a few strokes for therapy. I was told straight up what they would cost. I also called other pool companies and he was rightvon target. Very compassionate about my mother as well. Con was that it would mean a new liner. He picked the most beautiful liner. It is very dark in my yard so I and getting light next, so I asked about the pool light he said I did not need 2 one would do. The told me to can the water fountains and go for the light. Again right on target with the price. He said the light decision must made before the liner fills because the electrician would need to run the track. Thank God I listened. Of all the things that make me happy, the pool light is my favorite. They were efficient, clean and when I was not sure of something he stopped by after his other jobs. I wanted a salt system because everyone raved about it and he Explained exactly what it does. I thought it was like jumping in the ocean. No red eyes no chlorine on the skin. Phil told me that the PH needs to be monitored at times. Everyone who got in it this summer said it just feels so different. It just glides over the skin. He suggested double skimmers. Which is the new thing now. I have had an 80% reduction of bugs in the pool. I was very happy with the job. I feel happy in the yard and my son loves it!!!!!! Phil did not push anything. I was out of control at times. He saved me from spending unnecessary money. I recommended them to 2 friends.

UPDATE/RESPONSE TO VENDOR (9/10/2018): To solely respond attributing this to our budget is shortsighted. You barely showed up for less than a handful of hours to work over a 2 and a 1/2 month time period. You committed to start our job and left voicemails/sent emails saying you'd be starting on a Monday morning and then not show up until 5:15 p.m on a Thursday. You couldn't even handle showing up for the original job we hired you for so there's no way that we would have ever made it an even bigger job thus almost doubling the cost. We lost faith and trust in your ability to perform the work due to your failure to complete the job in a timely fashion. Plus we spent 2 months waiting for you to show up each day when you said you'd be there. You drained our pool, a month later removed the liner and then showed up a month later attempting to double the costs in order to now guarantee your work. You ruined our entire summer and left our yard in shambles having taken sections of our fence down and making it unsafe for our small children. How you could do this to a family is beyond me. Had you completed your job in a timely fashion, we wouldn't be in this boat. Now we have been trying to move on and hire someone else to clean up the mess you left us with. However you continue to refuse to sign the paperwork terminating the contract or refund our deposit as you were advised by your own attorney to do. Again, we are very disappointed to be in this situation and your failure to complete your job in a timely fashion. That is why we have been trying to terminate services with you since mid-end of June, not due to our budget. ORIGINAL REVIEW: We had a terrible experience with Metro Pools which is still ongoing. We signed our contract mid April with a target date to have our pool done around Memorial Day. They drained the water from our pool in the beginning of May then came back to remove our liner the week before Memorial Day. They barely worked a handful of hours over a period of 2 and a half months, did not adhere to the schedule they set nor did they show up for work on our job when they told us they would be here. They would come for 15 minutes here and there then decided to tell us our job would be almost double of our original contract in order for them to now continue to guarantee the work. They left our backyard in shambles before dropping this bomb to increase the costs when we decided that we could no longer trust them as a company. Our yard has been uninhabitable and we've been unable to use it all summer. We have been trying to terminate services with them, end our contract and receive half of our deposit back from Metro Pools since the end of June. We've even had to go to the extent of hiring an attorney, which Phil (the owner) has decided not to respond to. I would never reccomend Metro Pools to anyone unless you want to have a nightmare of an experience. Ours isn't over yet due to the owners failure to respond and our backyard remains unusable with 2 small children as it is unsafe with sections of the pool fence being down, an empty mess and hole which was supposed to be a completed pool in our backyard and a large trench dug with electrical wires hanging out of it. This is the worst experience I have ever had in dealing with a contractor and they are totally unprofessional.

On this large project, Metro Pools was responsible for the installation of the pool, which went extremely well. Phil, the owner of Metro Pools, was directly involved from the planning phase of the project through to the completion of his work and that of the contractors that performed work related to the project (plumber, electrician, fence installer, mason/hardscape). Phil is very accessible, very knowledgeable and easy to work with. His pool work was extremely thorough, precise and the filter system is very effective. Phil had a competitive price and came within budget without sacrificing quality or service.

Metro pool was great to work with. The owner Phil is on top of his game. He walked us thru the process and was not pushy at all. He made our dream into reality. An amazing company to deal with. I will definitely recommend them to my family and friends

Fantastic job! It was a difficult pool to measure and they spent the time to get it right. The only delay was in receiving the liner from the manufacturer. The crew was polite, hard working and took pride in their work. Metro Pools came back to close the pool and fix any small issues with the liner. I would trust them with any pool project.

Phil and his team were great throughout the process. I would recommend Metro Pools.

They took our old, collapsed - full of holes liner out and installed the most gorgeous and inviting liner that sparkles when the sun shines on it. Our pool looks brand new again. Our Loop Loc liner has a beautiful shimmer and sparkle! Makes us so happy every time we look at it :) The project didn't always go smooth since everything being upgraded was ancient, and we were impressed that the owner (Phil) listened to our input and always kept us up-to-date. He put in overtime and went the extra mile to ensure that the end result was more than satisfactory, which was greatly appreciated. Kuddos to Matt and the rest of the staff that Phil employs. Metro Pools took what was a very old inground pool and made it look brand new again. My Loop Loc Pearl Essence liner has a beautiful shimmer and sparkle! Makes me happy every time I look at it :) I also love the permanent stairs that were installed because I no longer have to yank myself out of the pool using a ladder- nice touch. The project didn't always go smooth since everything being upgraded was ancient, but I was impressed that the owner (Phil) listened to my input and always kept me up-to-date. He put in overtime and went the extra mile to ensure that the end result was more than satisfactory, which was greatly appreciated. Alexa manages the office and she is knowledgeable and really pleasant to work with. I have to say that after all their hard work... my pool no longer looks retro because I went with Metro! I added a panoramic photo of the finished product which distorts the pool shape a bit, but you'll see the awesome end result. A+ for a job well done. Thanks Metro, you rock!!

There were a couple of scheduled appointments, but the problem with all pool companies is that they do not want to come out to a job without payment. Eventually we gave them a clear idea of what had to be done and they came and took care of it. The company that put in our pool did not use the correct screws for the light niche, so the new pool leaked and original company would not fix it. Metro came out, fixed it and did a good job. Although it was not cheap, I would use them again.

Hired this company because they got top ratings. The day the liner to be placed ,They were behind schedule and I witnessed water tankers arriving and having to wait until they finished the job.. They rushed to complete the job, later finding out that certain areas of liner were not tucked in properly . They opened my pool as well but filter failed to work after the third day and they stated they couldn’t return until the following week because they were too busy and were short of workers. When I called and spoke to the boss concerning my concern of a new liner with no filter running He started cursing at me and making me feel it was my fault. I called another company to help me, the problem was fixed in 10 minutes. I would not recommend this company again. My choice of Liner was nice but the service and consideration for me as a customer was disgusting.

Pool opening and closings are done as scheduled even if the appointment is made weeks in advance. There is never any doubt that they will show up. I have used them to upgrade my pool heater. They took care of everything in a professional and efficient manner. At the end of the 2016 pool season I decided on getting an new pool cover. Metro took care of everything and when the cover supplier was late getting the cover to Metro, Metro called me and informed me of the delay and immediately re-scheduled. The cover was installed on the new day as promised. I highly recommend Metro Pool!

Process went great. If it wasn't for the building department and breaks for inspections they would have finished the pool in a week .

My wife and I decided to renovate a gunite pool. We used a pool builder from the Bergen County area that built a pool about 20 years aho at a house that my wife owns. The pool builder assigned the renovation work to a sub-contractor. We thought we signed the contract with the pool builder but it was actually the sub-contractor. Work on the renovation started off well. We expanded the project to include installation of pavers around the pool and the backyard along with building a separate gunite spa away from the pool. As work progressed we start to see some small problems which eventually became larger problems. Susch as additonal funds need to be added to complete the project. The final problem before terminating the sub-contractor was building a spa with a DE systems without placing a skimmer in spa. We contacted the original pool builder of the problems with the sub-contractor he gave us but unfortunately he did not do the right thing. They claimed that sub-contractor was at fault and they could not help us. We were in a fix and needed a new pool builder to come in to complete the work. Metro Pools was recommended and I met with Phil, the owner of the company, and went over all the issues that we have. He provided suggestions and tried other cost saving alternatives, understanding not only our existing problem, but also the cost already outlaid for the work that was performed. Phil was attentive to our problems, answered our questions and concerns, and provided quality staff to work on the pool and spa. Whether I was speaking to Phil or his Office Mnanager they were both very courteous and attentive to what we were asking. HIs Office Manager was very much on top of all the issues. The field staff were on time when they came to do the work in additon to being a pleasure to work with. Considering our misfortune, Metro Pools put everything right for a fair price and did not take advantage of our situation. I would strongly recommend Metro Pools to anyone. Presently they are used for the maintenance for this pool and spa along with the pool at the other house my wife owns.

The only issue I had them with them is that there was a price discrepancy on the filter cleaning where I was given a price over the phone. The price is accurate, but they neglected to include the separate service call fee that day for about $175. It was too obvious. I said to the girl that it was not a total deal breaker, but that they had to give me all the charges upfront. They cannot just forget about the service call fees especially if that was steep. They apologized and the next price was accurate, but they were overall good. They do good work.

Miserable. They were way late. Says they didn't clean pools. You have to clean the pool, that's how you open it. They were the worst. It took a while for them to come out as well. I don't know what chemicals they put in the pool. I'm not sure that they really did anything at all. Almost $1,000, two other pool companies, and almost a month later, we finally got the pool open. I do not want the provider contacting me about this experience.

Metrp Pool did an amazing job. I was extremely happy with them. I did my research in trying to find a company that would not just drop a pool into the ground and move onto the next customer. I interviewed over 10 pool companies. I did not have any experience with an inground pool and Metro Pool, Phil, made sure I knew everything about maintaining a pool. I would strongly recommend Metro Pool to anybody who wants quality service including my own mother.
