Excellent - exceeded my expectations

Markey installed new windows in our home over 10 years ago. The windows have been great, but the seal between panes broke on one window. We have a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer, but when I called Markey, they told me the manufacturer went bankrupt years ago. Still, Markey measured the window, had a new glass insert made, and then came out and installed the insert in the existing window frame. They were prompt, courteous, and did not charge us for this. Fantastic service!

It went fine. I had to order the part, which I was able to do. He was very professional and knew what he was doing. He was in and out.

In winter, I can feel the gold wind blowing through openings in my windows and patio door. I’ve been dreading replacing the 5 windows and patio glass door. One window was a bathroom window and had to have tempered glass. The exterior of the windows and doors had to be brown per condo association rules. The first three vendors I spoke with (Renewal by Andersen, Universal Windows Direct, and Magnolia Remodelers) gave me quotes that ranged from $18,275 to $8,000. That price range was too great, so I decided to educate myself about windows before I spoke to other vendors. I learned that what matter most are the window specs (U factor, SGHC, AI, VT, and CR) and the quality of the installation. I then got quotes from 4 other vendors (Lowes, American General Windows & Renovation, Taylor Rae Construction, and James T Markey.) Taylor Rae and James T were my top two contenders because they sold the best windows of the ones I had been quoted (Sunrise and OKNA) and some of their installers were Installation Masters certified installers (Taylor Rae) or American Windows and Doors Institute (AWDI) Certified installers (James T). James T was my top choice because they offered the best product, the best price, and the sales person (Ryan) was great to work with. However, I was concerned about two negative reviews on Angie’s List that no one from James T had responded to. When I went to the showroom to look at the patio door, I told Ryan about my concerns and he went back and spoke to the owner who came out and assured me that he was not aware of the negative reviews on Angie’s List and guaranteed a good installation of the windows. I went with my gut and purchased the windows and door from James T. They were installed last Friday and they look and work wonderfully. I’ll have to wait until winter to do the “cold draft” test, but I’m very pleased so far. Ryan and the office manager both called separately to ask how the installation went.

It is exciting to have new windows and new patio door. This company certainly knows how to keep the excitement alive. The crew of three people came on time and left at about 5 pm. It was a long day to them. Obviously they were well trained, well experienced, and well organized. What I like most is the patio door. It is very heavy and took all three of them to carry it. However, now I can open and shut it easily and smoothly. David and his team did a great job. Thank you!

"I made the right choice." You can only say that after a job is done and you step back and look at the final product. The folks at Markey were excellent from start to finish; informative, no-pressure sales, talented and thoughtful work crews, and a project manager who ensured my satisfaction throughout the process. At times I had to be patient with the speed of the project, but it was always worth the wait especially when doing a big job. I spent over a year planning the project and interviewed/worked with 5 companies and found many to be lacking in several areas of customer care. Markey was superior in both cost and customer service, and it only got better with the installation of the product. Overall, a fantastic experience.

The service was excellent. The windows were installed within a few hours. The workers were skilled and did an excellent job installing the windows and included all new molding around each window. They were careful to keep the areas in front of the windows as clean as possible while doing the job and cleaned up after they were through installing.they even gave me instructions on how to wash them! The windows look good and have contributed to keeping our home warm this winter.

Ryan came out to my house and gave me an estimate for 12 replacement vinyl windows. It was a fair price, but I wanted another price. I contacted one of the big box stores who gave me the same price because they were having a sale. the big box salesmen stated they used all subcontractors and did not have their own crews. Markey had their own crews. Markey installs OKNA windows and after much research found them to be one of the best. The crew came out in the beginning of December 2014 on a misty day and finished in one day. Our house is a 1,700 sq.ft. ranch and our gas bill for January was $ 95. Markey was fast, very clean, left no mess. We intend to purchase an OKNA patio door in the spring

We called to have them come to speak with us and to give us an idea what the job entailed and what the cost might be. We had originally called Sears and were completely shocked at the prices Markey quoted for the different types of windows in comparison!! We were given all details and all our questions were answered completely. We were very impressed with the professionalism right from the start! He was very knowledgeable about the products they carried as well as other products on the market. The windows were ordered and we were contacted to set up the install date. The guys came and completed the windows all in one day! They were so nice and obviously had worked together for awhile due to the way they worked together.. very smoothly. They cleaned up every single thing and even re-hung my curtains! I was asked to check the windows to assure I was happy and was told of the additional work they had done to complete the job perfectly. Last winter our curtains moved with the cold breeze outside... it was always cold in our rooms near the windows. Now? We are SO happy!!!! And warm! What a difference this has made in our home. It's been a rough cold winter this year so far and we could not be more pleased with the work that was done to help us be comfortable. Professional!! Great Prices! Guaranteed! The James T.Markey company was hired to replace 22 windows, siding and gutters .The James T. Markey company performed well above our expectations. We received 3 estimates and theirs was the best. The quality of the work was excellent. They replaced the windows in one day while keeping everything clean and neat. The siding crew was very professional they paid close attention to detail. They showed up early every day and worked quickly, efficiently and cleaned up every night before they left. We were thrilled at the way the house looked when it was finished. It looks brand new!!! Even the house inspector was impressed with the job. Rob and James were always very attentive and answered all questions we had. We highly recommend them and we will use them for other projects in the future.

From the initial visit from the sales representative through the job completion we could not have been happier with the outcome of this project. This contractor is responsible, reliable, competitive, neat and very professional, which you don't always get today. Thank you.

Doubting all the good reviews now. Some small dishonest behavior in the beginning should have warned me off, but I trusted the other good reviews here. Salesman who came to house indicated that when I was ready to finalize the contract, the manager at the office would be able to give me a couple of $100 off from the quote. When I went in to finalize the contract, the manager said he could not drop the quote. Given their good reviews online, I felt a few hundred difference was not that important. Salesman and manager both told me that windows could be installed in 4-6 weeks. Contract signed on October 16 and work wasnt done until January 6. Okay stuff happens, but they were completely unresponsive to my calls. When written deadline in contract passed without any word from them. I was forced to call, call and call again for over 4 weeks. I was given various excuses but no time frame as to resolution -- factory was behind in filling orders, will have to call you back to let you know, we can schedule you on 12/26, etc. No one followed up. Installers were polite. Many things went wrong. They punctured a hole in the drywall removing one window; so now the drywall needs to be repaired. They asked if I would like my blinds put back up and I said yes. However due to increased thickness of the windows, the blind hardware no longer had enough room to turn and would no longer fit on the window. The installers were totally lacking in common sense, so they decided to put them back anyway, knowing that they would no longer work. They put the blind hardware back but underneath the window edging (that is need to seal the window). This meant the installation work they had just done would need to be torn out and completely redone for us to be able to replace the blinds. Their caulking skills were messy, leaving thick globs of lumpy caulk that need wiping to remove from around the window and the wall. It looks like something a rank amateur would do. The prior windows had some dirt coming in onto the sill. They clear caulked over the dirt and now the dirt is stuck there for all to see. I would have wiped it myself if you had told me that you were going to put clear caulk on the windowsill. I complained about the blinds the next day. I was told another guy would come and fix it. The same team of guys came out and they had to tear apart the window edging that they had just installed. They did this in a rush and left very messy looking edges and caulk. They also must have been using some blue cloth to wipe the caulk, as the window trim and caulk is now stained with ugly blue streaks that wont come off. They also put unsightly scratches around a window, as they has to tear out the edging to get to the blind hardware and then replace the edging again. Further, the manager promised they would repair the drywall, but the team did not come with the right materials as they told me they didnt know why they were being sent back. They tried to stuff some white caulk into the hole. Again it too looks terrible. Overall, the windows look ugly and unsightly, probably on par with what I would do (having never done any caulking or window installation). Now I need to repaint, clean up, and retouch all around the windows, even though the entire place had been recently repainted and repair damaged drywall.

The windows were installed timely and look beautiful.

It went fantastically well. We used to have water leakage and cold air coming through our old windows. We don't have those problems anymore. The basement is nice and warm and there is no leakage. In addition, everyone we dealt with from Markey LLC was extremely professional and helpful. We highly recommend this company!!

Markey's Rocks! Thoroughly professional. Great quality work done by his own employees (no third party contractors or daily laborers). And his staff were solid and knew what they were doing. In 2 days flat they changed 23 windows and a sliding door. All working perfectly and superb clean well finished job. No hassles whatsoever and that's so rare with contractors. A neighbor referred them to me and I was not disappointed. Markeys Rocks! Highly recommend!

The repairman was very courteous and had a handle on the problem. What seemed to me to be a difficult job because of the type and age of this discontinued Double-Hung window, was a cinch for the experienced repairman. He had the necessary equipment with him and the confidence and expertise that he could fix the problem. It was worth the price.

My wife and I wanted to replace the siding on our house. We narrowed the job down to 2 contractors. James Markey and Somerville Aluminum. Both were very professional, and one of our neighbors had their house done by Markey and I could see their work. Although the 1st salesman from Markey that visited us was rather new at the job and didn't have all the answers to our questions. He flat out told us that he just started the job recently and was just learning. That was okay as we all started as a rookie at our own jobs at one time. He called us back and invited us to their showroom to speak with other sales people.....We visited the Markey Showroom in Manville to get answers to our questions. Markey then gave us a listing of what houses in the area that they had done siding on and we drove by them several times, We got the same from Somerville Aluminum as well. Both companies did excellent work. Although the prices between Markey and Somerville Aluminum were very close. We decided to go with Somerville Aluminum instead. The reason..........Except for 1 day when a door had to be replaced, we did not have to be home. Markey said that they needed the homeowner to be there every day that they were working. And since a siding job takes over 2 weeks, weather permitting. I did not have to take any time off from my job.

Good product, workmanship and price. Install went very well, the window looks great. Installers cleaned up after themselves. While they were there, I asked them an unrelated question (was having a problem with a sliding door). The installer immediately figured out a quick fix, and took care of the issue. Would definitely use them again.

The installer was on time, neat and very skilled an pleasant. Igor was amazingly neat and proficient at what he was doing. Very good experience for me.

I am completely satisfied from start to finish. The Markey salesman was low-key, direct, and honest with pros & cons of different window types. Answered all my questions in a straightforward manner all within 15-20 minutes. Took initial measurements and gave me a reasonable and competitive quote with no pressure to sign. Our research of the window manufacturer, model, and pricing was consistent with everything he said as well. Windows arrived and were installed less than six weeks from the point we signed. All 16 windows in my home were installed within one day by a 3-man crew. Extremely professional installers. They were friendly, careful, and worked at an efficient/professional pace. No mess anywhere. A member of the crew returned the next morning to finish some exterior trim and capping. The work site was kept clean throughout the process and all traces of debris were removed. All the windows were installed perfectly, capped, caulked, and finished beautifully inside and out. My windows were in serious disrepair prior to this and the difference in energy use was noticeable the first day - my central a/c barely turned on the whole day. The Affinity windows are exactly as demonstrated. I am very pleased with their initial quality, their functionality, and the design. I highly recommend James Markey Home Remodeling based on the truly outstanding customer service I experienced and the quality and efficiency of their work. Great job!

They had to order my door custom so it took awhile. Once it came in they scheduled the job. Arrived promptly. Finished in 3 hours or less and cleaned up the old material. If I'd known it would go so well I'd have done it years ago.

He was very professional, always on time, worked very cleanly, and was detail oriented. He even worked when it was brutally cold out. He always personally answered the phone. I would absolutely recommend him.

It was phenomenal. It went amazing. You can't even tell that it's vinyl siding. It looks like cedar. It's beautiful. Customer service and price stood out. With the winter storm that we had, with the winds and everything, one of the pieces of siding came down and it was loose. They're coming back right away and no charge and putting that back up and it wasn't even their fault.
