Everything about Skydell contracting was excellent. From Kathryn in the office to Alan on the job site all I received was quality. I highly recommend them. My project came out better than I could have wished for.

Skydell uses subcontractors for most of their work. The subcontractors were all good. Skydell is responsible for supplying the materials to the subcontractors. My project manager, Steve, never had the materials that the subcontractors needed. They had to come back multiple times to do the work because they did not have the materials that they needed. Steve would call me the night before or the morning the contractors were coming and tell me I had to use in stock items. The available materials were not the materials I had wanted to use for my project. For example, I was told I had to pick an in stock grout color even though none of the colors matched my tile. When I insisted on getting a grout that matched my tile, I was given a hard time and told that my choice would delay my project. Steve did agree to get the grout I wanted, but he made me feel like I was being unreasonable. The grout was available in 2 days. Not enough flooring material was ordered so the contractor had to come back again. On the second visit, there was still not enough flooring material so Steve had them skimp on the flooring in places where it would not be seen, like under appliances. Even doing this, there was still not enough flooring material, so more had to be ordered and the contractor had to come back again. This type of situation happened with every material used. My cabinets did not fit and had to be re-ordered. My molding looked terrible because they made the end point of the molding end before the cabinet width in some places and beyond the cabinet in others. The cabinet doors had chunks of sawdust painted into the finish. They were taken back to be fixed and came back with the same issues, the door was just flipped upside down. My project finished more than 3 months beyond my promised /contracted completion date. Steve had to install my dishwasher and left a 1.5 inch gap between the counter and the dishwasher so all the insulation was sticking out. It was also crooked. I told him that I did not want to see the insulation and I wanted the dishwasher level. Steve called me ridiculous. At that point, Richard Skydell became involved and I never saw Steve again. Richard did fix all the remaining problems well enough that the job was completed ok. I was pretty disappointed with the project as a whole. I expected a higher degree of professionalism and I was promised that the kitchen would be completed on time, so the extra 3 months was also disappointing. Because of my experiences with the project manager and the constant material issues, I really wouldn't recommend the company. Richard is a nice man, but his employees do not live up to the standards he promised when bidding the job.

Unethical... got too big for his britches... never met is subcontractors... change orders galore... takes on too much work... not a man of this word!
