LIONI HEATING & COOLING, LLC

Our central A/C had stopped working properly in the middle of a heatwave. Because it is an older unit that had not been serviced in a while, we were anticipating that it might need to be replaced. We called Lioni for assistance, and they arrived at our house within a couple of hours during what has to be a very busy time of the year for them. The technician Mike P. was courteous, professional, and an absolute pleasure to work with. He performed a thorough cleaning on our outside condenser and added refrigerant, and our A/C is now working 100% better than it has in years. This was our first experience with Lioni, and it was an excellent one. We would definitely recommend them, and will call on them again in the future if need be.

We had Rupco diagnosed the problem to be a bad reversing valve stuck in cooling mode. Lioni's agreed to change it out. He came and did the work but the air wouldn't come out warm out of the vent even after a whole day of running it. After already paying him for the work I got him to come back and do more troubleshooting. It took him a week to order another control board and solinoid and eventually he put them in, called it good and left. He had to put in a new transformer in the indoor air handler as well. Then that same afternoon that transformer shorted out and there were smokes inside the unit and got carried into the house. At this point I didn't pay him another check for the 2nd visit and he had quoted me about $600 for parts and labor. Long story short he made another couple visits, each time taking him a week to order more parts because the transformer keeps blowing up. The work including changing out my existing thermostat and rewiring the dc. Some of these visits he had helpers who has more heat pump experience than him helping out and it seemed more promising to me for a short while. Even with a new thermostat something is still shorting out the transformer and they had to put in a more expensive resettable transformer in. They readjusted the refrigerant on the outdoor heat pump too and finally deemed it good. Charged me another $1250 only for me to find out the heat isn't warm and the AC isn't cool. After this experience I put $2400 down the drain so be warned about this place. Somehow I doubt that these parts he put in are the root cause and if the wiring was wrong we wouldn't be able to use it for 9 years weather it was wired correctly for duel stage eat or not. They maybe ok repairing gas furnices but YMMV when it comes to heat pumps.

During the first heat wave of the season, with temps in the triple digits, my central air went out. I called Lioni's from Angies list because of good ratings. He couldn't make it there the day I called but moved his schedule around to fit us in at the end of the following day. he found the problem pretty quickly fixed it, cleaned the outside unit and was on his way in about 1 hour. Very professional.

The technician came on time. Diagnosed the problem and did the work in one visit. When he left, my AC system was working better. The tech added coolant and cleaned the interior and exterior of the evaporator fins. He told me my unit should last another season or two but should be replaced as it was as old as my house (26 years old). I was glad not to be pressured into replacing my AC and heat systems.

We just moved to NJ and were unable to test the A/C prior to closing due to the weather being too cold. Once the heatwave hit, we realized that the A/C was only blowing warm air. We discovered this on a Saturday and after calling 8 or more local companies, Lioni's was the only one willing to come out for an emergency call. Michael came out on Sunday (the same day we called) and got us running again. He seemed knowledgeable and very polite and didn't try to up sell us on anything. We would have liked to have engaged Lioni's for our annual maintenance, but unfortunately their price was at least $130 more a year than everyone else we had talked to.
