+ -1 moreAbsolutely horrible moving company! The movers forgot their tools so they asked to borrow mine. Vaping during the job and they argued with each other the entire move.. I could look past these issues but they broke our dining room table.. Even after breaking this they charged us an additional hour over the original estimate they gave us. We filed a claim for the broken dining room table which was denied because they felt the table broke due to a poor build quality.. It was a $2000 table bought at a higher end furniture store.. it was in perfect condition prior to them breaking it. we chose this company because it’s family owned and run, but they don’t have a family business model. They took no accountability and clearly don’t have any regard for alleviating an unhappy customer

+ -1 moreSimonik sent 3 nice men for my move from a house to a 2nd floor apartment. They were on time and worked efficiently. They handled my items with care. I only moved 7 miles but the whole move was complete in 3 hours. I’m a single, older woman and I would definitely use Simonik again.

Description of Work: Simonik moved our household from NW New Jersey to Gettysburg PA. The it is a large household that required tractor trailer van. However there was no place to park a van of that size on our property in NJ so the goods had to be loaded into two smaller straight vans and transferred to tractor trailer van at their NJ warehouse before being transported to PA. | |My biggest concern with the move was the secured and safe transport of the goods. | |My wife and I (mostly my wife) packed the goods using cartons purchased from Home Depot and boxes from a liquor store. We did a careful job of packing but not as good as professional packers. If the boxes were not handled properly, there contents could have been damaged. All the furnature and cartons arrived undamaged. After 4 months we have unpacked all of the boxes and only one item in a box was broken (that I attribute to my poor packing). | |The day before the move my wife was called out of town so she was not available to help oversee the move as we had planned. So I did not manage the inventory of the loading and unloading as we had planned. (We had done a photo inventory before we moved). Again, after 4 months we have located all of our possessions and nothing is missing. | |The driver and crew were very professional - they new what they were doing. After 30 minutes on the job they had earned my confidence that they would care for our belongings. | |I am extremely satisfied with the excellent service the Simonik team provided. I rated them a B for Price only because they were not the cheapest but they were very competitive with the others we considered. Also they quoted a fixed price without the condition that the weight not exceeded the amount of their estimate. I am glad we did not go with the lowest price offer.

Description of Work: Contents of three room apartment, moved from central NJ to southeastern FL. Movers picked up contents on time and delivery was on time. Tabletop wood surface of new wood dining room table was damaged and was reported immediately. Move took place the last week of November, 2014. Adjuster came to look at tabletop about 2 weeks ago and issue is STILL unresolved.

+ -1 moreThe Packing service was great. They came in with 4 men and packed the whole house in less than two days. I did have everything very organized so that helped. The record keeping was not the greatest because it was done by hand, not computerized. The movers came ontime and loaded up the truck in one day as scheduled. One of the crew was not that good, kind of lazy and on the phone a lot but the other two, the driver and the other mover were great. They delivered on the day I requested in Florida, very fast, no delays. A few issues with some minor damage to furniture and one issue that the packers took apart lamps and TVs from the stands so the movers did not want to put them together (as they did not take it apart). I called the company and they worked it out with the mover while they were onsite. Not perfect but for all the horror stories I hear about long distance movers, I feel it was a very good experience with this company. The packing was SO WORTH IT.

+ -1 moreThere were 4 guys but it wasn’t efficient enough. It took them 8 or more hours to move. I thought that they were slower especially because they charge by the hour. We had some damage through with them which was reimbursed in weight which we didn’t like. I would pick another mover and I would not go with them again. They were not completely lousy. Their price was expensive. They got back to me quickly.

+ -1 moreThe front office was very friendly and helpful. She set up a time for a visit to my house to give me a quote on the move. The man who came was very kind and quickly surveyed my house and gave me a quote on the spot. The quote given was a few hundred more than the ones I went with but I am sure this is a great moving company. I just wanted to go with another.

+ -1 moreIt was done very well except for one of the moving men. He stood around as the other guys were working and tried to start conversations with my husband while the other guys were working. He was very careless with our belongings. When he brought boxes in he would throw them down and they would bump against the newly painted walls. He dropped things and he was responsible for tying up the refrigerator cord when they moved it and it was tied so that the fridge got stuck going out the back door of our house. When we went to plug it in at the new house the pins of the plug had been broken off, which was a 150 dollar repair for us. We took extra insurance but the deductible was a thousand dollars. The company is not aware of the damage because I haven't called them. I actually would have expected a follow up call but that hasn't happened. Overall we are very happy with the cost and the move. That was the only glitch in the move.

+ -1 moreAlmost half of the numbered stickers were missing - according to the mover, they had fallen off in the warehouse because of the heat in which the furniture had been stored. We selected our delivery date, with the understanding there would be a 2 day window for delivery. We were supposed to have our goods on June 18 and around June 15, they told us the move was delayed because they couldn't find a driver. Now we had to wait until June 28th, at which time they told us the truck was in transit. I called them for another reason, only to learn that the truck hadn't even been loaded. Our goods did not arrive until July 7th. We had to stay in a hotel from the 28th to the 7th. The delivery crew arrived at 6:30 a.m. and wreaked of alcohol. We had all of our goods insured for replacement value. Out of a $5,000 claim we netted $650.00. They did not pay us for missing boxes and they did not pay us for boxes that we packed ourselves. They claimed that the broken springs were the result of 'normal wear and tear', even though the $7,000 couch was only three years old and was used sparingly by two people. To add salt to the wounds, we never even received an apology from Simonik. His only response to us was 'file a claim'. We would never recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: We have moved 6 times in 10 years and never had a problem with a moving company - until Simonik. We moved from NJ to AZ. (Simonik is an authorized Allied Vans mover and storage facility). There was no problem with the crew loading and unloading. The problems, we believe, occurred during storage for about 6 weeks. Our furniture arrived with multiple dings, scratches, and broken springs in both sofas. Wardrobe boxes arrived crushed down to regular packing box size. Of the 260 boxes that we packed, at least 40% of them were crushed and or torn. We had a lot of broken dishes and pottery. Also, there were approximately 4 boxes that were missing. Some items - like our gardening tools and shovels did not arrive at all. The toolbox had missing hammers. A 5 foot Oriental wooden screen arrived cracked and chipped. Also, we paid an extra $241 to have a piece of artwork crated. When it was opened and hung, the frame had separated at the edges.

+ -1 moreThis was our one and only major move ever, so we weren't sure what to expect. The one problem we faced was that on the day of the move when we saw the size of the truck that we were getting, we immediately questioned whether our belongings would fit. We were correct and everything didn't fit. We loaded our cars with whatever we could and the men could barely close the door on the truck with what was left. The guys were fabulous and for them to get on the truck what they did was some kind of miracle. When we asked why the truck was not bigger, they told us it was because things were very busy and that was the truck that was available at the time. We booked this move in plenty of time, so we feel the amount of stuff we had was underestimated. Originally, we were told we would be getting a large truck. The guys arrived on time at both ends of the move. They were extremely efficient in unloading and placed things wherever we needed them and even rearranged things for us a few times. There were a couple of minor things that had slight damage (which we didn't realize until a couple of weeks later) which we attributed to the truck having to be so overpacked. We didn't bother to file a claim since it wasn't worth it to us. Overall, the move went smoothly and we would recommend this company. We would re-verify the size of the truck that was coming if we had it to do over, but we we were very impressed with the employees and how they worked.
Description of Work: The move was from our home in Freehold, NJ to Magnolia, DE. We obtained 3 estimates, but were most impressed with Simonik's representative, Rob Griffett. He was extremely professional and personable. On one visit, he brought us boxes that were included in the price of our move and a good amount of extras. We had 38 years of accumulation and had transported some of our excess and stored items during the summer to a storage unit in Delaware. We opted to do our own packing, or at least that was the intention. In the middle of the end packing stage, Hurricane Sandy hit and we were without power for 9 days. This not only impacted our actual packing, but made it difficult for us to obtain all the boxes we needed since stores were not open for much of that time. On the day of the move, we were still trying to get the remainder of items packed. There were four guys to help get the truck loaded. They ended up helping us get the remainder of our goods boxed to keep us on schedule. The cost of the move was to load the truck one day, hold our goods on the truck for two days and make delivery on the next day to accommodate our closing in Delaware.

+ -1 moreFrom the sales call to the packing and loading and unloading the service was great. Friendly crew that took care not to damage floors walls etc in the house we were leaving and our new home. Everything arrived as promised and not a thing was damaged. I have moved before and that is a first. Clean up was done by them in the old and new house. I was very pleased with the price. My neighbor in NJ packed and moved himself to North Carolina same neighborhood as me. His cost for several Uhaul trailer trips and finally a commercial trailer that he loaded himself was the same as my move. He wound up with strained muscles. I ended up with a professional well done move in one trip and no strained muscles. I would highly recommend Simonik Moving and Storage Allied Van Lines.

The estimator, Bruce, was very thorough and made some recommendations for things we could pack and move ourselves to save money, which we appreciated. He stayed in touch with us in the days leading up to the move and gave us an accurate estimate of when the movers would arrive. Simonik's estimate wasn't the lowest we received, but it was close, and well within the range of what we expected. The movers were prompt, and they worked amazingly quickly. Everything was carefully packed and protected. The guys were polite and were careful to ask me where everything went. They took all their packing materials with them and did not leave any mess at all, which was a welcome change from some past moves I've experienced. Best of all, they took less time than estimated, so I received a refund for the unused hours. Overall, we couldn't have been happier with Simonik and will recommend them to others.

+ -1 moreThey were truly the most amazing and wonderful movers we have ever had in all the years we've moved. They are residential movers they move residential things from one place to another but they are known national and worldwide. They are an excellent company and I think the company overall itself is well run. They were very professional and gave attention to details. They were respectful of our things. They were truly outstanding and beyond any other moving experience we have ever had. It basically felt we were having family movers. Their communication was good. They did all the packing and they were trustworthy. You just don't have to worry about people stealing things. They cleaned up after themselves and they were just meticulous. They were also very efficient. A lot of movers we've used they leave paper, boxes and paper rolls everywhere but these guys were obviously cost conscious which was a good thing. The company also helped us because we didn't have to worry about the leftovers in the house. Every part of the experience was just excellent. Every part of the experience was just excellent. Some moving companies use employees with day labor but these guys were employees of the company.
