DLP Electric

This is the second time I've used DLP Electric, and as with the first time, I am very pleased. Don and his assistant are very pleasant and knowledgeable. I am nervous and pretty clueless when it comes to electrical things, but I feel very confident that everything was done properly and that the information I was given was correct, as well as educational. I highly recommend this company and I will certainly be contacting them again for future needs.

Don was great. He returned my call promptly and even came out that same night to review the project and then provided a written estimate. When I mentioned that I would need to schedule some time off from work to have the project done he offered to schedule for a Saturday. He then showed up at the agreed upon time, completed the work, reviewed everything with me and even hauled away all of the old items/debris. I will definitely be using Don again for any future electrical work that I may need. I would not hesitate to recommend him - I've already shared his info with a friend who is looking for an electrician.

Don was very easy to get in touch with. He managed to fit me in to an open spot on the same day I called. I have used him before and trust his expertise. As it turns out I was not using the switches correctly. Don thoroughly explained the procedure to use them correctly and offered to set up a service date to remount one of the existing fixtures after I contact the owners association to get the right parts. There are very few contractors my wife trusts but we can both say with confidence that going forward for all things electrical Don is our guy. Could not be happier with the professionalism, promptness and courtesy he consistently provides.

Very positive experience. Explained everything thoroughly. Was prompt, professional and an all around good guy. Easy to get in contact with. Prices were competitive with other estimates. Was even kind enough to help with an unrelated pool filter question that another provider might have tried to bill for. Would absolutely recommend and would certainly use again. I'm guessing on the approx cost because I can't for the life of me find what I did with the invoice, so please don't hold him to this for similar services.

Don showed up early and was personable, knowledgable, and efficient. My wife gets very nervous when it comes to electrical wiring and Don patiently explained to her everything he did and how it was safe. He even looked at and answered our questions about wires unrelated to the job. He is definitely our new go-to electrician.

Don did a great job with the job. He was punctual and a nice guy to work with. The job was done quickly. Unfortunately, the lights placement was off because of a measurement error on my part and I had to have Done relocate them to the correct spot. He worked with me with the additional cost though so it was much appreciated. The lights look great and i am planning to get Don to work on another project for me soon.

Don immediately returned my call - set up an appointment and arrived on time. Both Don and Patrick were pleasant and efficient and the job was done quickly. I plan on using DLP Electric again in the near future and recommend their services.

Don came over to satisfy some home inspection issues and did an excellent job. Would definitely recommend his services to anyone else as he was friendly, his prices were fair, and he even called a few weeks later to make sure everything was going well with the fixes.

Don and his assistant showed up early for our appointment and got right to work. He replaced two ceiling fans and was able to use the existing box saving me money! He took a look at a light fixture another contractor installed wrong. He advised what would be needed to properly have the light installed and we could call him when we were ready to fix it. Don was a pleasure to deal with. He is professional and very knowledgeable in his trade. I have finally found my go to electrician.

I needed circuits installed for new appliances. Don was very responsive and fast. He was knowledgeable and knew immediately what had to be done and accomplished the task in short order taking into consideration the workers who were to install the appliances after he finished this part. I would use him again and recommend to my best friend if need ed.

Don gave me an appointment right away after I called. Showed up on time with his helper. Went to work right away replacing the fixture and telling me what someone had done wrong before. Came up and checked out the kitchen fixture, which was bad. Told me to find the replacement one we wanted and call him back so he could install it. Also talked about several other jobs needing done. Didn't waste time, just got the job done.

We are trying to be first time home buyers. We found a home but it has to be rewired due to the knob and tube of the first and second floor. We called around for estimates and it was hard to find someone. One electrician quoted us an outrageous price and another kept not showing up. I called DLP and he was honest about his availability and the amount of work needed. He gave us a fair estimate but unfortunately won't be able to do the work in July.

Don was quick to respond and showed up promptly. He doesn't cut corners and pays attention to detail. While removing our old ceiling fan, he noticed it had been installed incorrectly and was willing to check another one in the house to make sure there wasn't a similar problem. We were very happy with his work.

I will definitely call DLP if/when I need an electrician again. I had a couple things happen in January and unforturnately when I made a note re the expense I did not put the exact date down. It was the Sunday the day before the BIG snow storm that was being forecasted for the next day but never happened! In itself it was not a big or major repair but I honestly did not know exactly how serious or how big the problem to be fixed was. The fact that it involved electricity scared me. My refrigerator is plugged into an outlet on which the other other thing plugged into the other plug on the outlet is a small lamp that we use with very low wattage bulb in it. We have never had problems with that. The bulb went out, I bought a new one in the store early that Sunday morning. When I had replaced the burnt-out bulb with an identical style/wattage bulb and turned the lamp on, there was a "pop" sound and a burning smell. I immediately unplugged the lamp. When I opened my refrigerator I immediately saw that the light was not on and it was not running. All I could immediately think of is "great, it blew my refrigerator and I'm going to have to buy a new one! Where am I going to be able to get a new one (and I don't need or even want a fancy/very expensive fridge) but all I'm thinking about is the timing -- a Sunday morning with a BIG snow storm still being forecasted for the next afternoon -- can I find one I can afford and have it delivered before the snow storm starts the next day. As it turned out, once I took a deep breath to "calm down", I was able to find out that my fridge had not been blown. I plugged the fridge on to a heavy duty extension cord and went to another outlet in the kitchen. It immediately started up again and I started to relax. My only concern then is that I still did not know why the outlet had blown and I was concerned that maybe there was a major problem with the electrical and I did not want to have a fire. I did not at the time have a specific electrician. I went on to Angie's List to see who was shown and after reading about several, my instincts told me to call DLP. It was the right thing to do! Because it was a Sunday (and because my fridge was once again working!), I waited til Monday morning (8 am!) to call. I spoke with Don and he couldn't have been nicer. I explained what had happened, what I had done, and my remaining concern. He told me he would come that morning (I live in Clifton; he was in Bloomfield). He was here by 9 o'clock, checked everything, replaced the outlet where the problem had happened and double-checked to make sure everything was as it should be. While he was here he also gave me some information about whole-house generators and how even a portable generator can be hooked up to the house electricity to help if/when there's a power outage. The generator issue is something I hope to be able to explore in the future. He was gone by 10 a.m.

Don and his assistant Pat arrived on time, as he always does, and he quickly and efficiently replaced the corroded old floodlight box. This is the 3rd time I've used DLP Electric when I've needed some work done. Don is very nice and easy to deal with. He's very knowledgeable, has found and fixed some existing wiring problems, and has made several suggestions that I've gone with. On the other occasions, he's put in outdoor outlets for me, and wired my shed for a motion detector, which he then installed. Inside the house, Don fixed my non-working ceiling fan, put in a new switch, and replaced a closet light fixture. I appreciate that Don takes the time to do the small jobs. I've asked for an estimate for 6 high hats for my kitchen, and will be scheduling DLP for that job soon. As far as I'm concerned, I've found the perfect electrician, and I highly recommend him.

Don was responsive and professional. He fixed the motor quickly and even made few adjustments to make it easier for us to change temperature. He continues to follow up to see if everything is ok. I would definitely recommend Don for future jobs, big and small.

Don was very professional. We were able to schedule the work for the day after I called him. On the day off, he finished early and offered to come in earlier than the appointment, to which I agreed. Him and Paul (his assistant) were very courteous and tried to leave the area just as they found it. Work was done quickly and thoroughly. When he was done, he explained how I can wire the dishwasher from the new wiring he installed. Looking forward to doing business with Don again.

Don was very responsive, came out on Sunday morning. It took him a while to find the problem but the problem was solved. Don proved himself to be honest and professional. I have had bad experiences with contractors but Don is one of the best. I would use him again and again.

Working with Don has been very smooth and easy. My husband called for an estimate and Don was able to come to our house the next day. He took his time as we told him our long laundry list of electrical needs and explained to us what would be easy and what would take more time. We give Don a lot of credit, our house was built in 1929, which definitely presented some difficulties...but he always made it known that anything could be done that we needed. Don installed 6 high hats in our living room and the light they give off is beautiful and exactly what we were looking for. We know this was not an easy task, as it was an all day job in our old home. Don also patched up any holes him and his team needed to make in the process due to our house's age. He installed our chandelier in the dining room, a ceiling fan in the living room, installed new outlets in our bathrooms (we were living with no outlets in our bathrooms!), outlets in our bedroom, light fixtures in our kitchen and basements, and an outdoor outlet in our front yard (which was perfect for putting out our Christmas lights this year). In doing all these tasks, Don and his team were clean and efficient. We still have a few more tasks to go and will be contacted Don again for the remaining work. We called several providers from Angie's list as the person we previously used could not locate the issues. Don returned our call, set up an appointment and came for a consultation even before any of the others returned my husbands calls days later. He found a few hanging wires and some other things lose and fixed them. He went over all the issues and told us to monitor the lights and keep a list of all the lights that were affected if it happened again and to call him immediately. He even followed up the next day to see if there were any more issues. We were good for about a week and a half when on a rainy Sunday afternoon, some of the lights started flickering and went out for a few minutes. They came back on but went out again 10 minutes later an did not come back on. The temperature was freezing outside so we were worried because this affected our heating system and the temperature started to drop in the house. We left a message for Don and he returned our call within minutes. Although he had family obligations, he was there in half an hour and upon checking our electrical panel, he realized it was not an issue in the house. He told us to call PSE&G who came out kicking and screaming a few hours later. We have and he had a problem since. Again, Don followed up to make sure that we were ok. He is one of the most thorough and caring providers we have worked with since moving to this house. We need a few updates to our lighting and will definately call him when we are ready to do so. If you need any work done, don't waste time calling anyone else. Call Don immediately.

This current issue was related half ot the electricity being off for the 1st floor unit. It ended up not being a breaker malfunction as I had suspected. DLP ferreted out the faulty outlet and had things up in no tme. In summary... quick, efficient, professional and competent.

Don was very professional and quick. I called Monday to explain the issue and he said my light fixture needed to be replaced. Don replaced the light fixture on Tuesday and even took the old fixture with him. I will definitely be using him again since we will be doing more electrical work this year.

Don was very professional and responsive from the very beginning. He came out on a random weekend to provide me with a quote to install a light fixture on the 2nd story stairwell, as we currently had no lights in the hallway. The job, which we thought would be fairly easy actually became quite an ordeal. To make a long story short, Don was able to get through all the obstacles of my quirky house and he was finally able to install the light fixture. The job required a lot more work than what was quoted, but Don was kind enough to honor the quoted price he provided me earlier. I'll be completing additional electric work in the future and you can be sure that I'll be calling Don and DLP for his services again.
