+ -1 morePeter and his team were very professional, punctual and timely. They did an amazing job and completed the work ahead of schedule. The work is fantastic and should last for many decades.
Description of Work: Peter Traub replaced an existing slate roof that was at the end of its life. He removed and replace the existing slate and all of the copper flashing with new slate, flashing and snow guards.

Does not want to sell you something you don't need and goes the extra mile on things that make the difference like flashing. Sometimes difficult to reach due to demand. No advertising, word of mouth. He is the best roofer in the area.

+ 2 moreHe is a wonderful roofer. They came when they said they were going to. They were very courteous. It was a real pleasure dealing with them. They were careful not to pressure wash the roof too much. He came out and told me that it was a difficult issue because the moss was so thick on that but he came when he said he would and took care of it and we haven’t had a problem since then.
Description of Work: I used Peter Traub to remove moss from the roof and they replaced, repaired and covered some of my gutters. They also cleaned the gutters. I had a small leak and they found the source of it and repaired that.

Description of Work: Slate roof repairs, partial gutter replacement and adjustment of other gutters, gutter cleaning, replacement and painting of broken window shutters, and miscellaneous. Years ago, Peter did most of the slate roof work himself, but since he now relies primarily on his crew, the quality of the work has suffered. However, Peter gets confused about specific work order instructions making repeat visits necessary. Rain water is still entering my house at certain areas of repair. He did stop by my house twice unannounced to attempt to address issues, but I couldn't meet with at the time because of illness in my family. I plan to contact him soon, but I must first prepare a detailed description, with photos, of what must be corrected. Depending on his response, I would consider changing my rating of his services. Although he lost his temper with me once during a water leak emergency call, Peter is basically a nice person.

+ -1 morePeter was the only roofer that I met that knew what slate was on the roof and how to repair the roof with the existing pattern to keep the historic character of the house. He and his crew were very professional, the quality of the work was great. His price was competitive with others. His knowledge of historic roofs is superior. I have used him on other smaller projects subsequent to this project and the level of professionalism, quality and responsiveness continues to be excellent.
Description of Work: Repaired slate roof from damage caused by a huge white pine tree that went through the center of a slate roof causing extensive damage. Matched the original slate and pattern. Replacated snow cards with copperplace snow quards.

+ -1 moreWe were extremely happy with our new roof. We used a highly knowledgeable, skilled roofer who was honest and informative. He was always open to questions or concerns. He explained our options very clearly and provided information so that we understood the process. He roofed our trash shed and daughters playhouse as well as the garage and house. The roof improved our homes curb appeal immensely and we never doubted that our home was secure from the elements. The renovation of the attic at a later date was an excellent collaboration that exceeded our expectations.
Description of Work: We had a new roof installed . Three layers of roofing including original wood shingles were stripped from the roof. A plywood sheath was installed and new 40 yr asphalt shingles. We were considering finishing the attic at a later date so new windows were put in and skylights. Sheetrock was brought in through the open roof for the anticipated attic renovation. Yankee gutters were rebuilt in copper. Peter was the only roofer who offered this solution to the existing leaking yankee gutters. Newer aluminum gutters and leaders would have changed the historic lines of the house. I interviewed many, many roofing companies because of the complexity of our roof. I got much lower estimates and much higher estimates. We never regretted our choice. Later we used his company for the renovation of the attic which became a wonderful master bedroom suite.
