These guys are great! They do amazing work and are very professional. The guys working for dave are courteous, respect your house and are experts in plumbing. I have a hard time trusting contractors, but only trust Dawson when it comes to plumbing. I've never had an experience where they had to fix anything other than what they were hired for (i.e they dont rip you off and claim other things are broken. Also, they work efficiently.
Description of Work: I've used Dave a few times in the past. Previously for a new hot water heater and oil to gas conversion (new boiler) - they are authorized via the NJ gas rebate program. This time I used them to replace a non-working baseboard heater and maintenance for my boiler.

-Two men cleared drain. Flapper was replaced. ($10.00 for part) Wanted to charge $518.95. -Toilet still running. One man returned, replaced innards of toilet. Wanted to charge $318.00. So disappointed with attempted gross overcharging. Had used them before and, at that time, found them to be costlier than others, but not unreasonable.

This customer was a long time customer who became very irate. The bulk of the cost of the repair was $375 for a sewer line snake which is a fair charge the toilet charge was a repair for a which took an additional hour we charged about 125 plus minor parts her complaint was not accurate and the price was fair for what work was performed . She called about toilet again went there no charge and took care of problem.

Very well - I had several people - plumbers, handymen, friends - try to figure out where the leak into my pantry was coming from, to no avail. One look from the Dawson team and they had it figured out. They returned the next day to make the repair and I couldn't be more relieved. Maybe a tad pricier than I anticipated but well worth it!

Let me say up front, Dawson Mechanical did an excellent job spec’ing, installing and testing the new steam boiler they put in my house. There were numerous issues with my old boiler and hot water loop, Dawson Mechanical fixed them all. Period. Everything works right. The system is quiet. The loop heats properly now, and my Nest thermostat is properly powered. The existing steam system in my house had numerous problems. I spent the better part of a year trying to find a steam boiler expert that I could trust to do the job properly. I had done research on my own to understand what the issues probably were, but I wanted someone that could identify all of the issues so that when the job was done, everything would work perfectly. When Dave at Dawson Mechanical came to my house, it quickly became clear that he knew exactly what was going on. He was knowledgeable and organized. He looked at all parts of the steam system before we talked about what needed to be done. Where other guys made suggestions that were incomplete or showed lack of understanding, Dave presented a few alternatives, and clearly articulated the pros and cons of each choice. Dave was also patient with me. I asked a lot of questions to make sure I fully understood the alternatives. The Dawson Mechanical team was very organized. They worked in finished and unfinished space in my basement, and they were meticulous wherever they worked. I couldn’t be happier with the work Dawson Mechanical did at my house. Highly recommended.

Once again these guys saved my bacon, working quickly and into several late evenings to restore plumbing and minimize a hotel stay. Knowledgeable, professional, and efficient -- and pleasant to deal with. Helped coordinate claim maze with homeowner's insurance resulting in quick claim resolution. If you need to endure a plumbing catastrophe, these are the folks to call.

When we bought our house we had a non-functioning frost-free spigot by our garage and a functioning one in front of the house, however the functioning one had an old galvanized splitter attached to it which had corroded and locked in place over the spigot. About a year in, the galvanized splitter crumbled, leaving part of itself irremovably attached to the threads of the spigot. DMC came out, cut both frost-free spigots out of the concrete and installed new frost-free units. The shut-off valves for both spigots clearly hadn't been turned in years and were heavily rusted, so DMC replaced those as well. On the same visit but unrelated to the spigots, we had an old wet bar in our basement we'd been wanting to remove. Even though it wasn't the issue we'd contacted them about, DMC also evaluated the bar and capped off the two supply water lines there so we could safely remove the bar. They did a great job quickly and at a reasonable price.
Description of Work: Cut two old, non-functioning exterior frost-free spigots out of concrete and replaced with new frost-free units. Added new shut-off valves to both spigots. Also capped off two supply water lines for a basement bar sink.

Came immediately to pump out basement water. Replaced hot water tank, furnace, and sump pump. Also installed back-up sump pump system that works when power is out! It works by water pressure (No, I do not know how) electric source IS NOT NEEDED. Did not know this type of system existed. Price was reasonable (even tho I was in a panic). Will definitely use this company again.

The install was three full days. They were very organized, professional and clean. Additional expenses at no fault of theirs were: 1) My master bedroom required a separate zone in order to get proper heat 2) The master bath shower was not not getting heat because the flow restrictor in the shower head caused the Navien not to heat the water.

Dave was very quick to return my call and arrived at agreed upon time to provide an estimate. Dave spent about 30 minutes with me explaining what needed to be done and an estimated price. We also discussed when he would be able to perform the work. I told Dave I would get back to him by end of the following day after I got additional estimate. Dave did follow up with me the following afternoon and I told him it would be the following morning I would get back to him. I called him the following morning to let him know I had selected another plumber who had provided a better price and he agreed he would not meet that price.
Description of Work: Provided estimate to replace galvanzied pipe with pvc pipe; install shutoff valve after water meter; supply and install new single bay laundry tub, faucet and washing machine shut offs; eliminate an old line for dishwasher; replace cartridge on bathroom faucet to eliminate leak; install new 50 gal water heater

It went very well. The plumbers installing the boiler, the electrician installing the electrical pieces, and the chimney guys installing the sleeve all arrived on schedule and completed the work in a timely manner. All were very courteous & answered any questions we had. Dave, the owner of Dawson, was on site several times throughout the process to check the work & answer questions. Also the people in the office at Dawson and Huff & Puff arranging the scheduling and handling billing and payment were very helpful.

I have an old house in summit with a steam heating system and the return pipes, which take the water back to the boiler, were leaking. The pipes come down from upstairs and run along the floor in the basement which is partially finished and were behind the wall except in the boiler room. They were all rusted and needed to be replaced. Dave Weinfeldt came to the house and suggested that the least expensive repair would be to run the new pipes along the wall so he would not have to tear out 20 feet of sheet rock to put them behind the wall again and gave me the above price which also included replacing pipes on the boiler. I agreed but when he came over with the sheet rock guy he recommended to do the removal and repair of the walls, my wife decided she wanted the pipes behind the wall. Dave looked at me and said you know that will take more time and will cost more. I agreed to have him make a fair adjustment when the job was done. The sheet rock guy he recommended was great and only made a few holes to allow the plumbers to get behind the wall to connect the pipes. When the job was done Dave said it took a little longer than planned but the price was the same. His plumbers are polite and professional. We have oriental rugs in the house and they were all protected during the two day repair. The basement is cleaner than when the work started. I had a separate problem the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend and the house had no heat. Dave sent his guys out and it was fixed in an hour. In sum, If you have plumbing problems Call Dawson and talk to Dave.

The company did an excellent job of installing our new system. When I was calling different companies for estimates, Dave came in a very timely fashion to look at our current system and to give us an estimate for replacing it with a gas system. He was very knowledgeable in this area and carefully explained the advantages of gas heat and hot water and the type of energy efficient system he would install that would be optimal for our size house. He took out our old system and replaced it with the new one on the designated days, replacing piping as was needed. He has an excellent group of workers and they cleaned up the area very nicely when they were finished. The hot water system is great and the house heats up much more quickly now then when we were using our previous oil system. I would certainly use Dawson Mechanical again and would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: The company converted our heating and hot water system from oil to gas. They removed the old boiler and water tank and assembled and installed a new steam boiler and hot water tank, providing one that was energy efficient.

Dave is a highly skilled and completely trustworthy professional - I trust his advice and recommendations completely. His pricing was also very fair given the amount of work performed. He is incredibly hard working (you can catch him on the office late at night or on the weekends) and fully accessible via cell. His crews are also very professional, respectful and polite. I found his company via Angie's List and could not be happier with the choice. He lives up to his high quality reputation and is somebody who I will turn to going forward for any future plumbing work.

We were referred to Dawson by a neighbor. We discovered our water heater was leaking and needed to be replaced right away.(Thank heavens, it was just leaking!) We called Dave about 7:00 pm and he came right over, assessed the situation, and scheduled a replacement for 9:00 the next morning. His team arrived promptly at 9:00, installed the new heater, and also installed new pipes and valves as necessary to make sure we were up to code. Our house is over 50 years old. They left the area clean and neat. A great professional job!
