+ 0 moreRobert was prompt and accommodating in the beginning but soon we started to experience problems and a total lack of communication... unless he wanted to get paid. When he demo-ed the kitchen he threw out our garbage disposal (which he eventually replaced). The dishwasher was left unsecured and the line ruptured flooding my basement. He took 3 of my kitchen cabinet doors to have glass inserts put in. This was never done. I had to threaten him with legal action to get the doors back. He had me order twice the amount of tile I needed for the back splash and then took all the remaining tile without telling me. When I questioned him he said he was going to return it and get me a refund. He never did. I had to once again threaten to get the tile back. I eventually returned it myself and got back over $300. The list goes on and on. Would not call me back for days at a time. Said "we're showing up today" and then wouldn't show or call. I think the worst part of the whole experience is he never finished the job. Just stopped coming and left me with a big punch list that I have to take care of. I don't know how he get's positive reviews. Must be small jobs that can be done in a day or 2 because anything long term there is bound to be problems based on my experience.

+ -1 moreThe worse experiance I have ever had with a contractor. We scheduled 3 appointments for an estimate, but each time he never showed or called even after confirming. This resulted to several wasted hours over a period of two days and over a week delay in getting the project started. If this is the way he treats people trying to get an estimate, I can't imagine that he is reliable enough to actually do the work.

Description of Work: We hired Q&R Home Improvement in Sept 2014 for a stair renovation project and it has been a nightmare. As of December 2014 the project was still not completed and at the very latest--this project should have been completed in early November. We paid Robert $7,500 out of the $12,875 job proposal and the stairs which was the major part of this project is still not completed. Thankfully, we hired another company and when they started the project realized the work which was performed by Q&R was done in error and they had to redo it according the architectural plans. Q&R had these same plans and put a platform in the wrong place. In addition, when the new company started to look at the structural work performed by Q&R they realized it was not performed to code and very dangerous - I have attached pictures. What is the most disturbing about this whole project/issue -- is that I have reached out to Robert several times via phone, email and texting and he has not replied at all. I have amicably offered a resolution - to refund us a portion of what was paid and I would be fine to just move on. Professional Contractors who have seen this work said we are due a FULL REFUND. Unfortunately, now I have the unpleasant task of filing a compliant with the State of NJ and must seek legal action to get my money back.
